We got our dog groomed here accidentally (I had made an appointment elsewhere; my boyfriend brought her here) but Tails definitely won themselves a repeat customer. Not only were they accommodating about the appointment confusion, they were excellent with my dog, who is usually so afraid of water she won't cross the bathroom threshold. I love this place. More importantly, my puppy LOVES this place. I am not one to bother writing reviews -- but Tails deserves it. The staff shows my puppy so much love. On the ride to daycare, my puppy sticks her head out of the window and yells with excitement once we hit Centre Street. She leaves exhausted and goes right to sleep. I have no complaints. The store is great too because they sell Orijen dog food. I used to have to buy it online because no one sells it anywhere. It's great to have a store that carries the good stuff. They're very personable, always remembering my dog from the first time we came there (and we're not really regulars, taking him in only a few times a month!) I even saw one of the guys that works there at the park once and he was very excited to see our dog (as was our dog to see him!) We send our puppy here for daycare. It is close to my job and we love the people. He gets to play all day long. He comes home exhausted and goes straight to sleep. I love the staff and they do a great job with my puppy. It is good to know he is in great hands while I am at work. read more

Excellent Service! Just went here yesterday to pick out a leash & collar for my pup and the staff was really friendly and helpful. They even gave my pup a treat! We tried on a bunch of collars which could be annoying but they staff helped us with each one and even recommended a brand that will give you a free replacment collar if your dog chews through it-like my dog. read more

I'm extremely happy with Tails. I drop off my dog Harry three times per week for day care, and he seems to love it. The moment we round the corner, he's yanking on the leash trying to run to the store's front door. Great for cat-sitting! Moved to the area shortly before a two week trip, and was worried about who would take care of the cats. Did my research and picked Tails. The process was easy, and Tails asked for plenty of info about who to call in emergencies and all about what the cats like and don't like---even more detail than I would have thought to give. Came home to find they did a great job. The cats are happy and healthy, have new toys, and there was a note all about their adventures and describing the cats' personalities enough to know it wasn't just a script. read more

I have been bringing my 55-lb dog to Tails since 2015 when she was a puppy. I have since moved out of Boston and still drive 45+ minutes (often out of my way) to board her at Tails when needed. Yessy and her staff were an amazing resource for me when I first got her as a puppy (day-care a few times a week and boarding as needed) and have helped me address and manage behavioral issues, all while loving her as much as I do. She has always been nervous with men and I have witnessed multiple male staff members "win her over", one who even spent extra time with her every visit until she trusted him. I have boarded my dog at other facilities, in which she showed extreme anxiety to the extent of having accidents in her crate (which has never happened with me). She would refuse to leave the car and shake when I tried to bring her to these facilities. On the complete opposite end of the spectrum, she DRAGS me into Tails and "thanks me" every time I drop her off. It is the one place I can truly have "peace of mind" when I leave her and not experience any guilt as I know she is loving every minute. She comes home happy and exhausted every time! The Tails family is a wonderful group of people who I will always be grateful for and will continue to entrust with my most valuable possession- my dog! read more

Tails is great! I love them. I have been using Tails for private walks, daycare and boarding for my dog, Artie, since February 2015. We've also used them for cat services. Everything has been amazing. I can't say enough good things about them. They have been so accommodating with schedule changes, too. I sent my 2 dogs to Tails for a couple of years until I moved. The staff is professional and they care so much about the dogs. When I board there, they treat my dogs like they're their own pets. Good dog daycares are hard to come by and I couldn't recommend Tails more. read more

I have been going here for a year to get my cat litter because they carry the brand I like. However, I don't think the employees really know much about their products, or pet care (they are always friendly, however). Example 1: I called and asked if they carried Nature's Miracle, which anyone working at a pet store should at least be familiar with. But they had no idea what product I was talking about and said they didn't carry it, but I went in the store the next day and sure enough they had a whole shelf. Example 2: I went in and asked for guinea pig hay, employees had no idea what I was talking about, and pointed me to the small animal bedding. Anyone who works at a pet store should know that small animals like guinea pigs and rabbits eat hay, nevertheless that it is a very important part of their diet. read more

I absolutely love this place... But more importantly... My pup can't wait to go to school everyday at tails! The workers are so wonderful and friendly not to mention skilled in working with the dogs who attend. They even go so far to hand feed my pup when he's being finicky at lunchtime! To make it even better, the owner is a vet the and highly skilled at working with dogs no matter the ailment. Full disclosure, my dog was playing with another dog and the two of them accidentally bumped another dog who was sleeping. The one who was sleeping attacked my dog and bit his ears causing some damage. Luckily, there are workers always with the dogs and they were able to pull the dog off of my pup very quickly (and luckily that dog went after my dogs ears and not his throat!). I wanted to mention this due to the incredibly professional manner in which this incident was handled. The wire cleaned up my dog and called the vet to see if he should be seen. They showed my husband and I what to do to take care of him. The next time I brought my pup to tails, he kissed all of the workers and could not wait to start playing with the other dogs (a testimony to how well the family of workers do with all of the dogs). I wouldn't dream of bringing him anywhere else, even with this incident behind us. They are absolutely awesome!!! read more

My Chloe recently started at Tails' daycare and has been doing really well. When she gets home, she is tired out from playing all day, which means we can get in some good training sessions before she passes out. Overall the place seems clean, and the workers are very nice. I have been taking my dog Dolly to Tails for daycare a few times a week since September and we both couldn't be happier. We used to go to a fancy doggie daycare in Coolidge Corner and it was more expensive, worse facilities, and less flexible hours. Tails is such an upgrade! The staff is so friendly and helpful and I know Dolly is being taken care of. The dogs have indoor and outdoor space and are taken on walks throughout the day. I once was running late and they were about to close, and they stayed open 15 minutes late until I got there and didn't even charge me extra! read more

In this day and age of below average products and service, Tails stands tall as one of the few businesses that not only carries excellent products, but more importantly provides outstanding customer service, consistently. Yessy, the owner is absolutely awesome and cares so much about her clientele, particularly the 4-legged ones. And, the young men and women that work there follow her lead. They are great! We bring one or both of our Beagles there almost every day for daycare. They love it and come home tired and happy. Our younger guy was never as content or calm at night when we brought him to our previous daycare facility. I take my incredibly energetic 7-month old puppy here for daycare and she loves it! The staff are friendly, enthusiastic, and really get to know the dogs who come in for daycare. I have lived in the JP area for a few years in the past, and have been working in the JP area for many many years. I couldnt believe someone finally opened up a "Pet Shop" in that part of JP.. Much needed!! I was so happy to see this place up and running! I stopped in one day, to see if they stock my dogs food- "Taste of The Wild"...THEY DID!!! I was so happy...I no longer travel to Quincy Or Dedham to get my pooch his meals.Even if they didnt stock my dogs food, I would stop in and shop for things.They have a great variety of Hollistic/all Natural foods for cats & dogs. This place is people friendly, owner is very knowledgable, and when she doesnt have something in stock, she is more than happy to order for you-cant beat that! Prices are great too! They also run a doggie day care, very cute, I will be trying them out very soon too...they show these poochies lots of love. I always get a good genuine vibe from them everytime I go. Such a fan of this place! We adopted a pup a few months ago and it's great to have a local place a few blocks away. They offered to order her food when we mentioned that it wasn't something they carried and they went above and beyond trying to help us find a harness that fit our mixed breed pup (not an easy task). The owner's daughter was really great with our dog who can be very anxious around new people too. We ended up only buying a few treats on our first visit and the staff was so polite and courteous - that first interaction has kept us coming back. We were in short need of someone to take care of our pet rabbit while we went out of town and Tails came through and provided great service. As other rabbit owners will know, finding a service that will take care of them is tough as most seem to be comfortable with only cats and dogs. Tails was more than willing to provide care for a rabbit and seemed knowledgeable and experienced in doing so. They came over each day and checked in on her, doing everything we asked for and more. I LOVE Tails! I too am writing my very first review on Yelp and it is to express my strong recommendation of Tails. My dog Zen was the first dog to attend daycare at Tails back in October and he absolutely loves going to Tails, he can't wait until the next time. The owner, Yesse is running a fine establishment, very professional, and cozy. Seeing her, and her family shed so much love to my dog fills me with warm fuzzies. Josue, Luis, and Lisa are staff members and they are super attentive, friendly, and they make sure Zen gets plenty of love and attention. I have been a JP resident for over 20 years and a daycare on Centre Street for dogs is probably the best thing that has happened to the neighborhood. Aside from daycare, I can also buy Zen's food and there are many options to choose from (grain-free). Prices are so reasonable, you can't beat their deals which let's you know they love their furry friends. I highly recommend Tails for your four-legged friends. read more

My dog is not normally a huge fan of daycare or boarding but absolutely LOVES to go to Tails. I bring her in for day care usually twice a week, and she tends to board there around once a month. She runs to go into the store in the morning when I drop her off and doesn't even notice when I leave to go to work. She has a great time boarding with the owner's family and has adopted them as her second family. I love knowing she is in great hands and having an awesome time. I highly recommend them. read more
