And now it made it that much better. I substituted the fries for cheese balls. For a little up charge and then put some cheese balls on the burger. I'm drooling right now as I'm talking about it. But all that for about $8 made it even better. And the quality was not missing. I came back that night and ordered the fish Sammie which was just as delicious. Again served with fries and the fixings. The fish Sammie was a long crispy fish filet fried to perfection. I added cheese on it too. That was about $7. I washed both down with a double of Tito's and club. Which was also nicely priced as well. Shout out to my bartender Jordan she was awesome!! Definitely a Gem in this beautiful city. As with any bar they have a plethora of beers and liquor, although with this extremely small town bar, the options are surprising. My favorite hands down food item is their horseshoe (or smaller portioned ponyshoe) sandwich. A Springfield Illinois original consisting of a layer of toast, then hamburger patty, covered in french fries, and smothered in cheese.... Mmmmm. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since eating it! This is my first experience and I have no idea where else serves it in the central IL area. I've never had one from Springfield which is the horseshoe sandwich mecca of the world, but I am happy to support this local small town establishment's take. They have a lot of deep fried foods here including: pickle spears, mushrooms, cheese, jalapenos (called "bottle caps" that are super hot), peppers, et cetera. They are pretty typically slots compared to other bars but one was obviously not working with the graphics on the screen very hard to see. They should strongly consider putting an out of order sign on the machine. Service at the bar was friendly and the drinks were good. My only complaint would be the wine glasses were shot plastic cups, similar to what you would find in a hotel room. It doesn't seem like a biggie, but having wine glasses for the wine would be a good investment.
