This place is delicious, in a cute part of downtown near other restaurants and shops, we stopped by here for a tea while waiting for a table for lunch nearby. I loved the extensive menu options, and was delighted to see they have my favorite boba tea option, a coconut taro smoothie w black boba. I ordered a that milk tea (cold) and the child had a mango green tea (cold) for the child who don't like boba, they got a canned coke that was in the display glass. I searched up "boba" and this was one of the only 2 places here that served it. The ambiance was actually pretty nice with its wooden interior and cute decor. As I set forth on an extremely long road trip- 27 hours, to be exact- this was the perfect refreshment stop after the first 9-10 hours! First off, Taichi is in downtown Chattanooga (which it kind of hints to in the name), which is one of the most quaint and charming areas I've seen! Second, once walking into Taichi and seeing what all they make, I really wished I had been more hungry. I was really in the mood for boba, but their poke bowls looked beyond marvelous. And ramen- when can you go wrong with a good bowl of ramen? This was clearly an authentic place, so the answer is you can't. The boba was pretty good- I got the thai tea which I had never tried before. It was really interesting, and I wouldn't get it again but I think Taichi made it about as good as you can get. My dad got a passionfruit smoothie with tapioca pearls and it packed a tart punch and was gone quickly. A last thing to mention is how adorable the whole place is! It was a quaint 1st time visit. I walked over a few blocks from the bank where I had validated parking. I picked a bowl over the burrito because you get more rice. I really liked the brown sushi rice. I learned "sushi rice" has vinegar in it, which I would pick every time. The veggies tasted great. There were plenty of options. The ingredients in our poke bowls were fresh. I would have given a higher rating if the spicy salmon and tuna were marinated in a spicy Asian chili sauce and not Texas Pete sauce. Bundle in the fact that they were handing out free samples of their taro bubble tea and we were sold for at least a lunch! On a very hot summer day in August, I really couldn't deal with ramen, but I got a poke bowl instead. Ordering is completely up to you with the poke bowl, starting with: 1) Your base (burrito, salad bowl or rice bowl), 2) The type of rice you want (brown, white, sushi brown OR white, and spring mix) 3) The type of ingredients you want (no limit to the amount) 4) The type of sauces you want and the toppings. 5) You round things out with proteins. Pick 1 protein for $9, 2 proteins for $11 and 3 proteins for $12. I ordered a 1 protein bowl ($9) and we also got the bowl of spicy miso ramen ($11.99). What we both loved about the poke bowl was just how fresh all of the ingredients were. Very tasty, very fresh and they didn't stuff the bowl full of rice as filler. They packed it all in, very nice! The ramen, we agreed was the lesser deal of the two. The spicy miso ramen was not spicy at all, but the broth flavor wasn't bad. Still, there seemed to be much more noodles than anything else here. Again, of the two, we both came away much more excited about the poke bowl. The interior of Taichi is much larger than you might think. It folds in on itself, because as you walk down one length of the restaurant passing the food display and booths, there's another tucked away hallway with more booths we weren't expecting. There is street parking here, or nearby lots for parking (pay lots). We walked from the hotel so parking was not an issue for us. Still, it is on a very walkable street in town making it easy to discover.
