I contacted Tag Towing and spoke with a customer service rep. I was told that the tow would cost $185 plus $4 per mile. The destination was 7 miles away. I agreed. When I received the bill I was informed that I pay Tag Towing from their location to mine and from mine to the destination and from the destination back to Tag Towing. Additionally there is a $15 credit card fee. The bill ended up being $320. The dispatcher should have told me the fee structure when I called. Not good at all! read more

I needed a jump start 3.3 miles away from their shop, they sent a guy out in a car with jump pack. Charged 210.00 I should have asked what it cost . Never again. That's insane read more

I have not used this business but a white tow truck of theirs and a dark grey one were speeding and driving recklessly on the Blvd of the Allies today cutting off vehicles and almost caused two accidents. If their drivers drive this way I can't imagine how they run their business. read more

Don't even think about this calling this place. Would give zero stars if possible. They are disgusting scumbags. Was charged $191 for 1.5 miles - $150 for towing, $24 for gas and 10% or $17 for using a credit card. No mention of these fees on their website or were they told to me prior to the tow. Went to the BBB site and they also sell used cars as the The Auto Gallery at the same location but different phone number. read more

Horrible service, it is absolutely the worst place I've ever been in dealing with people

Do not agree to be towed by these predators after an accident. You will be sorry if you do. $300 tow. $50 admin. $50 cleaning? And $75 a day storage. Getting an estimate while the meter was running on the storage took almost a week. Completely unscrupulous and unnecessarily vile when talking to them. read more

Tag Towing & Collision - That's some discount! - Towing Near Me - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Avoid! Scammers! Friend of mine took a break from ubering to get something to eat. After she came out her car was gone. Lost half a day of income. In no way shape or form did she park somewhere that was not allowed and only went into the business the parking lot was for. They literally stole her car and robbed her of $250. read more

Driver was rude and seemed to want to get into a confrontation push your car before you let this company tow it.

Tag Towing and Collision is nothing short of a company of thieves. They left my husband waiting for several hours and then he got his car started and called to cancel the call they were suddenly right on site. They charged my husband $85 for a cancelation fee while doing absolutely nothing. Foolishly, husband gave them our credit card number over the phone, since he never saw or had any contact with the driver, and he was supposed to send an email receipt which was never received. I spoke to a smart ass person at their office who said he sent the email receipt six times. No receipt. This company should be fined and shut down. read more

This company is literally the worst! I called to inquire about my car that has been in their storage for about 3 weeks & they let me know I'd have to pay over 4k to get my car out which is more than I paid for it. I was completely floored so I asked to speak to a manager whose name is Brian Haenze. I was told to call back to speak to the manager & I've been calling for 3 days & each time he's not available. I've left messages & still nothing. Today is the fourth day I've been trying to contact them & when I became flustered & asked about a specific times I can call to ensure that Brian will be there, I was hung up on. I kept trying to call & eventually when Brian answered this is how I was greeted "How may I help you nigger" seriously? DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING. I'm so appalled. read more

Left me waiting an hour and a half in the summer heat and kept telling me they'd be there momentarily. When they finally arrived, they basically told me I should just be lucky they came. Incredibly rude and unprofessional. read more

They were hired to tow cars parked in BP gas station next to Fiori's Pizza on West Liberty Ave. Then sat in the lot and on Friday and Saturday nights when the pizza shop is the busiest and when people parked for five minutes to pick up a pizza, they returned to their car hooked up to a tow truck, demanding $250 in cash or their car was going to be towed. People have been parking at BP's huge lot to pick up a pizza for decades. I'm sure BP got plenty of business from these people too. I can understand BP has a right to lose business and not let people park in their lot, but maybe give a first time warning, keep a list of license plates. Or have a bigger sign where people can actually see it. And to charge $250 dollars for lifting a car in the air until the owner comes up with $250 in cash. And conviently the BP has an ATM. read more

Glad these clowns are being taken to court for their shenanigans. They've been preying on the drivers of Pittsburgh for years. A few months back, I parked at a cash-only business in Southside, walked half a block to get cash at an ATM, walked back and found the guy hooking my car to the lift. He proceeded to charge me $250 to unhook it. I called the police and filed a report, but they indicated that it was *technically* legal to tow since I had left the premises. Now I get to be part of class-action lawsuit :). Even if there's no strict violation of the law here, it's good to see these idiots being publicly called to task. Of course they claim that they always wait 20 minutes before towing, but that is categorically false, as demonstrated by dozens of stories from local residents. There's a reason everyone hates these guys. Let me be clear: UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU DO BUSINESS WITH THESE HORRIBLE PEOPLE. read more

I made a yelp profile just to warn others. This company is awful. My car got towed (the visitor tag fell on the floor of the car and was not visible. It's bad luck on my part, but accept that it wasn't visible and so got towed). The man on the line, Brian, said someone would be out in an hour to come and release my vehicle. 3 HOURS LATER a driver showed up. I called repeatedly to find out what was going on and I was hung up on and my calls were ignored. He eventually stopped answering and just text messaged me. The worst part is that when the driver, Sam, finally got there to release my car, he told me no one called him to tell them I was waiting. I have already filed complaints to the attorney general office. Stay away! read more

When I called in to the dispatch office the man (whose name I did not get) was very rude, but I needed my vehicle towed so I ignored it and asked for a driver. Right after I got off the phone with him the driver, a nice man named Ryan, called me to let me know he was on his way and would be there in about 40 minutes. Not even 5 minutes after that I learned that I learned that I left my wallet at home. I called the dispatch office and told them the situation and that I needed to cancel the tow. I was then rudely told that I had greatly inconvenienced them and that there was a dispatch fee. Ok, understandable. What wasn't understandable was the fee was $50. The driver could not have been 10 minutes out and as traffic was, not far from the office. I asked what the fee included. The dispatch man (same one as before) rudely listed off a list of things. 1. fee for gas 2. fee for the drivers time 3. fee for CLICKING ON THE AD to call them. I told the man that I did not click on any ad and that I found the number online. When I searched for towing companies on the computer the number automatically came up and I called from my phone. He proceeded to tell me that I was wrong and had clicked on the ad and that it cost money to run the ad so I had to pay for it. I told him that I had no problem paying a fee because I did understand that I caused them an inconvenience but that I considered $50 a ridiculous amount. He told me I could pay it or he would call the police. He said that any call for service was a binding contract but I could try my luck with the police. I told him to never mind it because by then 15 minutes had passed and the tow driver was almost there and that I would figure something out. I ended up getting my vehicle towed and had to use my boyfriend's card. At first Ryan told me their card machine was down and that I should have been told that over the phone. (I was not) I convinced him to try it and thankfully it worked. The only redeeming quality of the whole horrible experience was that Ryan was very kind and acomidating. He was able to take $20 off my bill for the horrible service but all in all I would not use this company again. read more

I would give them a minus star if I could. I called this company in a hurry because I had an excavator sideways in my yard very close to my front window. They advertise $50 tow but it is just a bait and switch. The owner Brian Haynes answered the phone but would not tell me the cost to pull the excavator backwards. He said it varies. This should have been a warning to me but I was in a hurry and desperate to get the excavator out to finish my digging as the waterproofing company was there to do their work. He did say it was $4 / winch foot but would not say anything else. He said they would be at my house within an hour but had to call again and the driver did show up after a little over 2 hours. It took the driver about 15 minutes to hook up the winch and another 5 minutes to pull the excavator backwards. The fee they charged was $350!!! I called Brian to explain that I would never have had him come out if he had told me it would be $250 plus the winch fee as I had other companies closer that could do it for $85. He gave me a lame excuse and said if I did not pay him $350 in cash he would call the police. I only had $120 in cash and could not leave with the waterproofing company at my house. He said that was my problem. The police showed up 30 minutes later. The policeman was very nice and polite and explained that because they provided the service, I had to pay even though it was essentially extortion what they were charging. I wrote a check for the difference and the driver left. I have never in my 25 years in sales and purchasing roles dealt with a company so unethical and slimy as this company. After further research, it seems that this type of customer service is common practice with Tag Towing and a few years ago was The Auto Gallery. I can only assume the name change due to bad reviews and this type of bad business. My hope in writing this is that someone else who sees this before calling Tag Towing to help them as they will regret it if they do use them!!!!!!!!! read more

Pray that this company never tows your vehicle. I had to borrow my father's car while mine was being inspected. Parked his car in my apartment complex parking lot after 11pm at night. Woke up and went out to the car to leave for work the next morning and my car was gone. They go out looking for people to tow in The Residences Of South Hills. I wish I knew that. Then my father goes to pay the $220 to get his car out, and they say they are unable to take a credit card! What towing company isn't able to take a credit card? I am reporting this company to the BBB. They are rude and don't care what they have to do to make a buck. I've heard from a reputable source that they are a bunch of drug addicts too! Stay away from these crooks! They are nasty people that I pray I never have to deal with again! read more

They do rounds to find vehicles to tow. My girlfriend was parked in a completley empty parking lot at midnight for no more than an hour when they towed her vehicle. $250 to pick it up a mile away less than 2hrs after it was towed. If I could give ZERO stars I would, called to get my keys unlocked out of my car and the guy said someone will be there in 20-30 minutes (I live right down the street). An hour and a half goes by and still no one has showed up. I call again and the guy answered the phone and said "what do you mean no one has come yet" he sounded very frantic, called the drive and then said someone should be there in five minutes. Fifteen more minutes goes by and someone finally shows up in an unmarked car with a young kid in the car around 12 or 13 years old. After waiting outside for over two hours from the time I called someone very unprofessional did show up and it cost 85 dollars. Never again. read more

I wish there were minus stars for them, I have never seen such con-artists in my life before! They are shameless liars! My car was held by them as hostage and lying in an open parking lot for 1.5 months without any treatments. They required me to pay 5000 dollars otherwise will not release my car. I had no other ways but paid them the money. The cause of my ridiculous interactions with Tag is because I had a car accident and they showed up at the time when I needed a towing truck. The two drivers one of them called Ryne disguised themselves as really nice people and offered to tow my car to their body shop for repair. However since then they did nothing to the car with the excuse that my insurance company didn't send an ajuster to their shop (all my adjuster required were just several photos of the car including places that need to be fixed, and my ajuster is in another state, this happens for many insurance companies). The most ridiculous part is they asked for a ''storage fee'' of $75 / day because I left my car in their place (Jesus, I have never wanted to leave my car to these despicable people). 1100 out of 5000 dollars are for towing fees and administrative fees! Have you seen liars and robbers like them? Please, never trust any words of them! STAY AWAY FROM TAG! read more

These people are horrible crooks. Do not EVER TAKE YOUR BUSINESS HERE or let them tow your vehicle. They lied to me on the phone and kicked my insurance adjustor off of the property. Do not let the facility fool you they are horribly unproffessional. I had to show up with a police officer to get my car off of them because my parents chose to go with a different garage to do my repairs and they wouldn't release my vehicle. The insurance adjustor told tag towing and collision that they were towing it to a different garage and when I called them they lied to me and told me they had already starting repairing the vehicle and that I or my parents had given them permission. This was not in any way true. My father is a federal officer and is a very smart man who would have never given them permission without getting all the information and quoted estimate. They are liars and will do anything to rip you off. They have " $50 dollar tow " all over their website and they charged my insurance $775 which sounds ridiculous because IT IS. They tack on charges for things you would consider included in the price of towing like labor. For a tow? Plus they argued with the police when I got there. What kind of business owner who is doing good business and the right thing argues with a police officer. I also had to pay an additional $200 to have them release the vehicle. They also charge a "gate fee" which is $50 for opening their own gate to pull your vehicle in. WHAT?! Charging a customer to open your own door? The police are informing the magistrate of this garage. Terrible... and they argued over the phone with my insurance agents multiple times . My mother and I were forced to take off work to go to Pittsburgh and release my vehicle because they wouldn't without the owner and proof of ownership and an additional $200 from us. NIGHTMARE all around. Also, after looking them up they have received an F rating by the BBB. So please if you are in an accident don't fall victim to any tow truck that shows up. They are vultures who will steal your money and make sure you call insurance right away and ask what garage they would like your vehicle towed to.. if you are unsure. read more

DO NOT USE THEM! I am a tenant in a townhouse by the Craft House. I had a guest come over on a Saturday night at 9pm to pick me up to go out. I was not ready, I instructed him to come inside my home. He wrote on a piece of paper VISITOR PARKING FOR (my house #) and placed it on the front dash. Within 20 minutes, Tag Towing had his car on their tow truck. I heard all of the commotion from my house. I went outside and said excuse me but I LIVE HERE and he is my GUEST. I said that we are NOT going to the craft house and showed him the sign on the dash. They still towed him. They said it was too late, once the car is on the lift we are at their mercy. They said they would drop his car if I provided $250 in cash right on the spot, if not we can follow him to the impound. We were treated like dogs following the truck with my guest's car all the way to the lot. Charged $285 - cash only. My guest gave him $300 and the driver stated he "doesn't carry change." He made an additional $15 off of us. This is beyond disgusting, especially since we have permission to have guests park by us - just not overnight. Overnight guests use the guest lot. CLEARLY this was not the case. The owner of this trash company is a thief and I don't know how he sleeps at night. I have never been so disrespected in my life by a company, for doing NOTHING WRONG. read more

I have never left a review for any company, as we all have an off day and have never felt any company or business ever did anything so terrible that it deserved a negative review. This company is a scam they quoted one price and when they showed up at 9 pm told my employees it would now be triple thd price cash only. So i thought maybe driver was just tring to make extra money, called the office number and right away gof yelled at by the man that answered. He stated we had to pay even if we did not use his company and that if we didnt pay him he would call the police and i would go to jail. Civil matter police dont get involved. Not sure how anyone still uses this company as they have over 150 1 star reviews that i was able to find. I'm not from the area and had a car wreck in the rental I had just gotten to drive back to Rochester. I didn't even know where I was when I called 911, but Ryan from Tag towing was an angel in all the chaos. He waited on the side of the highway for 90 minutes with me for the police (who never came). He agreed to tow the vehicle to the place I told him, even though it was not his body shop. He warned me about scams and pitfalls that could happen with insurance claims in the accident aftermath. He explained the area to me, and gave me directions for getting where I needed to go. He went out of his way to make sure I was safe until I got into another rental. I wish I could leave these people zero stars. They are crooks, plain and simple. I admit that I parked illegally, but they refused to bring my car back, and said it was being held at their lot.. Which was 6.5 miles away. And of course their driver refused to drive me to the lot. The tow fee was skyhigh robbery. The guy on the phone hung on me, the employees were rude and mocked me while I stood in their showroom demanding to get my car back. Even after I paid them they said that my car was off-site and left me waiting. They wouldn't even get my car without me giving them the key. I feel like the only way they stay in business is towing unsuspecting people. I'm sure they make a killing with this racket. It looks like I'm just one review in a long list of bad reviews for this place. I would recommend steering far away from them at all costs. It's one thing to tow an illegally parked car, but it's something else to be complete pricks after the fact. Way to be professional guys. read more

I admit that I parked illegally downtown in a what I thought was a CVS parking lot. The parking was entirely my fault as I didn't see the "do not park" sign in the snow and dark conditions. I admitted defeat and called the number on the sign and was directed to this towing company. We had to get an Uber to a location that was 30 minutes away from where I was parked. I begrudgingly held out my card to pay the $250 fee to be told it was cash only. I didn't have cash on me. They then offered to "drive me to an ATM" in an old, filthy car. As a small female at after dark this situation immediately had me on alert for my safety. My car was not visible at this time. I asked to see the car because I was unsure if this business was legitimate. There were around eight men in an office who were all standing laughing at me and my question. The owner came out and told me in a threatening manner he would "kiss my ass twice". They then asked for the keys to my car to show me that they actually had it. So now they wanted $250 cash and the keys to my car. I was very frightened as these men were some real shady characters. It was clear they were consuming alcohol as there were cocktails laying around. This place looks more like a money laundering front than any kind of car sales and towing business. I'm extremely happy my boyfriend was with me and would caution anyone calling these people for a tow. I will be filing a report to BBB due to this threatening and unprofessional experience. read more

My 29 year old daughter with three kids had an accident on the highway. Dewey came to the seen of the accident while my daughter was on the phone with my wife to have her call AAA. he told her and the officer at the scene that the first tow was free. He also told her that they would store it free. They gave my daughter a ride home. Now anyone with any common sense would have them drop the car off at their home (since they were already there), but the tow truck driver told her they would store it for free and have his boss call her. Long story short, the accident occurred last week. They told her today that if she did not have it out by the weekend it would cost her over $700.00 to get her car out. Her car wrecked is worth about $2000.00 to $2500.00. What a great pay day for Tag Towing and collision. This will break my daughter. Please, beware of wolves in sheep's clothing. Educate yourselves, your wives and kids to the evils of people like this. I will personally make it my mission to tell anyone who will listen about this company. read more

Is there a "0" star review by chance? I was towed from a parking lot in the South Hills area that was not marked "Private" or "Permit Required". The owner, who would not give his name, was extremely rude, and confrontational. He threatened to raise the cost to get my car back for challenging my citation and He told me to "Go waste my time fighting this" and informed me that I would just be wasting more money. I gave him the chance to make this right by waiving the ridiculous fees of $220 and he refused. These towing predators can not be allowed to have free range and ultimate power to hold our vehicles that were towed illegitimately ransom for any price that they see fit. Our city and/or state need more strict guidelines and laws set in place on companies like these. The owner of this company is a bully and I refuse to sit here and take a beating.
