We've been numerous times to Taffer's and each time have enjoyed the upbeat, fun atmosphere. The service has always been on point with our servers and love the low key ambiance. The restaurant itself has great lighting and outdoor patio looking out towards downtown Alpharetta which is fun. Our wait on Mother's Day for the two of us on the patio was zero. Our server Adriel was pleasant, attentive and great attitude as a server. Helped me decide on my drink after looking at all the great choices. Many were very yummy sounding but either to sweet or just not my taste so after everything I stuck to my go-to drink, a margarita. Wasn't disappointed! My husband said The Campfire was very good and very smooth. He found it interesting how it was presented with smoking the chips next to the drink; however, upon asking it's just for the smell of the chips smoking nothing more to add to the drink. We opted for an appetizer which we usually don't order, but the Artichoke dip sounded amazing. We were very very pleased with it. Lots of cheese on top, and enough warm baked pita slices. Most of the time you never get enough to finish off the dip of any sorts, but this appetizer came with a lot which was great. Didn't need to ask for more which is the case most of the time at most restaurants. Our shared Tavern burger was excellent and cooked to medium just as we requested. Very juicy & crunchy with the BIG onion ring on top of the meat. Excellent bun and flavor throughout! We opted for onion rings and they were very good, not too much batter and not over cooked. My husband and I tried Taffer's Tavern on a late night Saturday to great service. The restaurant is located in downtown Alpharetta (a heavily populated weekend spot), and is the product of Jon Taffer, host of Bar Rescue. It offers both indoor and outdoor seating. When you walk inside it's as if you have stepped into a fancy getaway. The staff was great, and very helpful. Given that we arrived quite late (past our normal dinnertime), we opted for a nightcap each as well as an appetizer and one main entree to share. We ordered the Spinach Artichoke Dip and the Salmon Cakes. Both were bursting with flavor and very tasty. Very disappointing experience. The service was mediocre at best, but the biggest issue was the cleanliness. The menus were scratched up and worn out to the point that they should have been replaced a long time ago. There were dozens of flies all over the window next to our table, which was honestly pretty disgusting while trying to eat. On top of that, the light fixtures and window ledges were visibly dirty and dusty. If this were a cheap restaurant, maybe some of these things could be overlooked, but the prices here are definitely not inexpensive. For what they charge, I expected a much cleaner and more professional environment. Unfortunately, the whole experience felt neglected and unsanitary. read more

The food and drinks here are superb, but the service is constantly a miss. I love their grilled chicken sandwich and pretty much get it every time. The margaritas are also very good. We sat at the bar and were ignored by all of the people working. At one point there were like 7 people in uniform walking around behind the bar and we tried to flag anyone down but they intentionally wouldn't make eye contact. My coworker resigned recently and we hosted his farewell party at Taffers. I had heard about Taffers before on television and social media however this was my first time dining here. I found the food and drinks to be creative and high quality. We ordered a variety of appetizers and cocktails and everything was outstanding. Our server was super efficient and friendly. Parking is free in the covered parking deck nearby. The dining room is elegant and beautiful. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. We love this place. The food is excellent, service is attentive, and the atmosphere is pretty much perfect for us. It's not somewhere that you fee you have to whisper, but not loud enough as to be distracting. John Taffer knows how to do it right. The food is tasty, well presented, and always cooked well. For example, we have never gotten fries that looked like they were cooked in old oil. I know from his show that is one of his trigger points so I'll bet they keep the fryers and oil clean. Drinks are a little expensive but that's to be expected as this type of establishment. The service is always good and the servers are invisible but they always seem to know when you need something. Not constantly checking on you, but accessible when you need a refill or something. On this particular occasion, I had the roast beef as jus with fries. I was pleasantly surprised that the roast beef was actual carved roast beef, and not the deli sliced that you find on a bunch of these types of sandwiches. The ciabatta bread was fresh and had a great texture, perfect for dipping. The dipping sauce had a great flavor and complimented the roast beef sandwich perfectly. They have 50% off starters from 4pm-6pm daily. If you watch their events you may even be able to meet John. He will come by a couple of times a year and do a table touch at every seat in the place. Love coming here when in the area- they have fantastic cocktails. The guys always get the tequila with jalepeno drink and they scorch the jalepeno in front of you. The espresso martinis are done to perfection. My only issue is we received our apps before even getting our drinks. Small pet peeve but worth the wait. Bread was so dry and also there's mayonnaise on it and some herbs which ain't called out on the menu. The chicken sandwich was comparable to a fast food and honestly just mediocre. I had the Campfire, which is a Browned Buttered Rye. It was good, but maybe a little sweet for my taste. The presentation was interesting as the server charred the hickory chips on the side. Delicious. Had the herbed chicken and the mashed potatoes are divine. All appetizers from the pretzel to the jalapeño poppers to the spinach artichoke dip to the pork belly were wonderful. Nestled in the heart of trendy Downtown Alpharetta is an upbeat great vibe place called Taffer's Tavern. Yes it's Jon Taffer from Paramount Networks, the Bar Rescue show. Walking in I was impressed with the decor and massive bar area with impressive chairs and many selections. Our party was 21 people and the table was already set up and waiting for us. We had only one server taking care of our huge party and I was a little nervous how he would do but my fears were quickly put to rest as he started taking and delivering drink orders after drink order. Wow. And it didn't stop there. All food orders ( app and mains) came out hot, correct and to the right person. He did have some help bringing out all the food but awesome kudos the servers, kitchen and bar for really putting on a great performance. The hit of the table was the TT Poutine, Tater tots topped with shredded braised short rib, decadent mushroom béchamel sauce and creamy cheese curds. My beet salad was amazing, so fresh and flavorful. My only disappointment was the French Onion Soup. It presented beautifully but really seemed to lack flavor. This is a pretty cool restaurant. I really liked the design of the interior. We met up with family for lunch, but this looks like a great place for drinks or dinner in the evening. We ordered a variety of items off the menu. Everything was good and the prices are fair. But service was so incredibly slow. Mind you, we got there when they first opened; so maybe that was part of the issue. But the restaurant was also mostly empty; so it was hard to understand why our waiter would disappear for such long periods of time and not be available to refill or re-order drinks. I wanted to give this restaurant 5 stars, but to be completely honest, the food is just mediocre. I am a French onion soup connoisseur and was so excited when I saw it on the menu at Taffer's, but it was probably one of the worst versions of French onion soup I've ever had. First of all, it was only slightly warm, and the flavor of the broth was just all wrong and quite watery. Maybe it was just a bad day, but I don't think I'll be ordering that again. The grilled Chicken Avocado Sandwich was pretty good, but for $17, not sure it was worth it. The drinks however are fantastic! Everyone at the table thoroughly enjoyed their drinks, and it became clear that the bartenders know what they are doing. The Lost at Sea and Cloud 9 were top favorites, and the presentation was also beautiful. The restaurant has beautiful decor and interior, and tons of booth and table seating. They also offer outdoor seating with nice views of the square in downtown Alpharetta which is right across the street. Parking is limited, but you may get lucky enough to find a spot in the small lot directly behind the restaurant or even street parking. read more

This Swanky restaurant and bar owned by Jon Taffer from bar rescue was surprisingly very nice. Service was spot on with no complaints. The drinks were fun and mixed to perfection. I had the lost at sea with a small mermaid hanging off the side, and let me tell you, I was lost in my thoughts at the first sip. The price point was pretty standard $13-16 definitely not your happy hour prices, so don't act sticker shocked. Everything has gone up as you should already KNOW! Now, the food we decided on lighter bites, being that it was getting late and we weren't that hungry. The appetizers were alright, nothing to brag about, but I would definitely return for dinner to try other options. Taffer's Tavern sits on a busy corner on Main Street. Want to add a new review for Taffers Tavern. I came here back in September as I was back on another business trip. I brought a coworker with me as I told him this place has great food, and he too is a Bar Rescue fan. I ordered Taffer's Chicken and Waffles, some of the best chicken and waffles I have ever had. My coworker had Taffer's Roast Beef Au Jus with some mac and cheese.... He raved about it! We left and when I got back to my hotel, I realized I lost my credit card. I called Taffers and the waiter and manager kept it safe knowing I had left it. I came back and they handed it to me! So thankful they saw it and held it! No pirates in this barrrrrr.... Eh? I was in the area and had to give this a try. It's all about standards. The first night we came, we went to order two things for dinner, and they were both out of those items. In turn, I ordered a grilled chicken cobb salad. I also ordered double eggs, french onion, and chicken club. When the French onion came, there was no broth in it, leaving me unable to consume any of it. I showed it to the server, and he agreed. The deviled eggs were eeeehhhh, and there was nothing special about them. The grilled chicken avocado club was good. The server was hit or miss for us; sometimes, he would be on top of us, catering to our needs, but then other times, he would completely disappear for a while, leaving drinks empty and us wanting additional items. The following day, we returned with an additional group of business people. When we came in on Friday night, we were seated and waited over 18 minutes for any form of attention from a server. This is all while management walked past our table, servers, and hostess countless times. Finally, we asked management if we could get a server for our table. Management would have apologized and got us at least started in on drinks, but they did not. We waited another 3 minutes and 37 seconds for a server to come to the table. Once the server got there, the service was on point. The roast beef sandwich was not that amazing, and the fish and chips had a heavy batter on them. However, the grilled chicken club was still good. When the owner/management responds, revisit us, and it will be different. We did it twice, and the service was the same subpar and even worse on the second experience! Everyone missed the mark for a place that is supposed to uphold standards, from the hostess to the server to the management. Is the vibe inviting on the inside? It is. Funny u read another review with the exact same compliant I have, and sadly the response doesn't sound like they will address the issue: I asked for a patio table and 2 there were 4 tables available of different sizes, 2 through 6 seats. I was told that there was a 15 minute wait. When I asked why the wait, they told me that it was because of having a list and I had to wait. I asked her why they weren't calling the people in front of me on the list, but she didn't give me a reason. Incidentally, there was a party of 4 that was there before we got there, and they were given one of the open tables after 15 minutes of us being there. If they would have told me that they were short on staff and couldn't service all the patio tables, I would have understood, but that is not what they said, and reiterated that I had to wait for my place on the list. We ended up leaving after 25 minutes waiting and now 5 tables open. I don't think I'm going back. read more
