They charge you 50 dollars to look at strollers. I thought it was a joke. Went a couple minutes away to uppababy and bought one there.

They upped their fee from $50 to $100. $50 is already ridiculous, but $100? When you want to just look at different strollers? Was disappointed in how snobby this place was. Don't recommend. There's an Uppababy show room 2 minutes from here... and they don't charge you to look at strollers. Recommend going there. read more

LOVE this store. Absolutely stellar team, and they had every car seat and stroller in stock I was hoping to test out and get a feel for with my own hands. Don't waste your time doing a bunch of research online! This store has the most helpful staff I've ever encountered. I took my wife and 9 month old daughter for a weekend in the city. WE FORGOT HER SLEEP SACK!!! Tadpole worked with me over the phone to purchase and have one picked up by Uber. They had to endure multiple phone calls, from me and were happy and pleasant the entire time!! A South Ender for many years, I've never been to Tadpole until this morning. What a delightful store. Yes, the products and toys are beautiful and fun but the service is what I'm here to write about. Tiffany was amazing and pretty much knows something about every product in the store. She got to know who I was shopping for, what she likes, her style and needs, etc. She showed me all sections of the store, made personalized suggestions and even went in the back to grab a few books that weren't on display that ended up being just perfect for ny friend and her coming baby. The Tadpole staff picks the gifts and given that everything in the store is high quality with organic products, they did a great job assembling the baskets, wrapping and shipping! I went there to get presents from my friend's kids, the staff were very helpful and helped me pick a toys for 2 kids of varying ages. Most of the toys are for younger kids (less than 10 years old?). Honestly, comparing Tadpole to any other store is unfair. This is premium concierge service with a way to purchase things. We've had stuff come up that made it difficult to come to the store very often, but Lisa and the team have been amazing to deal with almost entirely through email and a couple phone calls. They give you honest opinions, are upfront about stuff, and very fast at responding (on email too!!). Use them for your registry - they'll even store your stuff until you come pick it up so you don't have to deal with a million annoying boxes to breakdown. 100% recommend. read more

I stopped in here on my way home from work to see if I could get my nephew a 5th birthday present as we had dropped the ball on his gift and had to go to his party that evening. I knew that I would be a little sticker shocked, but the convenience for me was worth it. I had limited time so I immediately asked the nice girl working at the counter what she would recommend for a gift. She brought me right over to a small selection of toys and gave me some different ideas and within a minute I had a gift in my hand headed to the register. There was a sign that said "Free Gift Wrapping" but I assumed there would be some rules on that since my gift was only $15 (I'm a cheap aunt, I know, but he LOVED the gift) and when I asked, she said she would absolutely wrap it up at no charge. As she wrapped I wandered the store and found some seriously super cute toys for our nieces and nephews. Prices are a little high, but so is their rent. I'll absolutely shop here for the kids in our families in hopes I'll find something perfect, but since the selection is a tad limited I know it won't be my be-all end-all one stop kids shop. read more

I have been shopping at Tadpole for almost 3 years now since moving back to Boston from NYC. I just recently had my first child but even before I became a parent, I always found the cutest gifts for friends and always popped by to pick something up for a birthday party, etc. I didn't have a clue about babies before having a child of my own and would always ask what a child of a certain age would like as a gift and they were always spot on. I have found Tadpole's customer service to be TOP NOTCH and was most recently blown away with their personalized customer service as I was registered there (along with two others - Magic Beans and Giggle). I love that Tadpole is a smaller scaled store (vs. Magic Beans which I frankly think is too large and hasn't mastered the art of thoroughly training their staff). The folks who work at Tadpole will soon know you by your first name and are extremely knowledgable about their products. They consistently travel to the Kids Show and are in the loop and current with the hottest new items. Anytime I have had a question about an item, they either knew the answer off the bat or looked into it for me and got back to me the same day. If you have shopped at other baby store retailers, I am fairly confident this was not your experience. Their registry offering is fantastic as you accumulate "points" that end up turning into a credit once you close out your registry. You receive 10% back on all purchases made on your behalf from your registry. One thing you absolutely need to keep in mind when you register somewhere is the store's return policy. Tadpole's is exceptional (while I found Magic Beans to have their challenges and Giggle - the store closed in Dedham but is still in NY, etc. to be mediocre). As a first time parent, you don't really know what you will need. I was able to return items that I didn't use almost 7 or 8 months after receiving them. They would return the item and issue me a credit. Anytime someone would purchase an item off my registry, I would receive an email. It found this to be rather helpful as it assisted me in tracking my gifts when it came time to write my thank you cards. Their online ordering system is efficient and quick. Even though I live locally in downtown Boston, the turn around time from someone purchasing an item for you, to it being packaged and shipped is pretty impressive. I would HIGHLY recommend shopping at Tadpole without reservation and would also recommend registering there! read more

The prices for gear are comparable to anywhere else (including online), and the owners and employees really know their stuff. Plus, no sales pressure whatsoever (unlike, hmmm....Isis?); they even told us not to bother with the $1000 Bugaboo as the $500 Bumbleride was better for Boston sidewalks. The store itself is super cute. Unfortunately, I had a terrible first visit and not sure I'll be going back. We went to check out a specific stroller, even called beforehand to make sure they had a floor model. When we arrived, the sales person asked if we had an appointment. I said sorry no we were not aware we needed one and no one mentioned it on the phone. She says it says it online. (I checked afterwards and it does not. You can book appointments but it does not say you NEED one to check out strollers). Anyways, she says she's busy and she can't help us. I asked her if we can play with the stroller ourselves, we just wanted to check it out before spending almost a grand on something. She said no, because of covid we can't touch them. I understand there are protocols but this made no sense to me. All the other toys were being constantly touched and handled in the store - how is a stroller any different? Also, the stroller could just be wiped down afterwards when we were done. It took us a lot of effort to wrangle our two little ones out of the house to make it in time before they closed and I felt disappointed that I was left with no options because I didn't have an appointment. Terrific customer service. We were looking for an inexpensive gift and decided to try Tadpole because we had limited time and live in the neighborhood. They have two stores on the same street; one for clothing, strollers, beds, etc. and the other had toys. We entered the former, explained that we were looking for a toy less than $30 and then we were directed to the toy store. By the time we arrived, the sales woman(evidently notified by the other store) knew what we were looking for and our aforementioned price range. She wrapped it beautifully, free of charge! Tadpole has absolutely adorable toys, books, and baby things that make one-of-a-kind presents. We received a gift certificate there when our baby was born, and we've been back to get unique things I haven't seen anywhere else (most recently - the cutest miniature backpack with dinosaurs). I can't say enough good things about this store and its staff. Dave, the owner, and Lisa, in particular, helped us set up our nursery and guided us through all the baby gear for our twin girls. They not only gently nudged us in the right direction, but also stayed on top of all the orders and diligently monitored stuff that was back ordered or not currently in stock. We are so very pleased with all their recommendations! The world of baby gear is an overwhelming one with a bewildering array of choices and Dave and Lisa greatly helped in sorting through the different options to pick what worked best for us. Gifts were always spot on and the gift wrapping was always commented on by the prospective parents! When I got pregnant, we were overwhelmed with the choice of car seats, strollers, etc from our online research. I should have just gone to Tadpole to begin with! Dave and Johnny were so knowledgeable about all types of baby gear, let us borrow strollers to take for a ride on the bumpy South End streets, and helped us find the best choices for us. Dave is also very knowledgeable about car seat installation and helped us make sure our car seat was properly installed. We've been going to Tadpole since we were expecting our 1st child (they are now 2y and 4y). The staff (esp owner Dave and manager Lisa) are SO knowledgable and helpful on all baby gear (which can be overwhelming to evaluate yourself). Since they put everything together themselves, they can suggest cribs, strollers, etc that are easiest to assemble (which is key for our family). Both of my kids had special needs which they were very considerate about helping me pick the right carrier, toys, etc. The entire store is so well curated always w/fresh inventory-- our kids always find something fun there (not just a throwaway toy) and whenever we go to a birthday party, I just tell the staff the age and they always have great suggestions (and gift wrapping!). I wish they had a store the next level up from Tadpole so we can keep going as our kids grow up! They really make shopping a joy for the whole family and not a nuisance. read more
