Poor excuse for a veggie taco...
    Shazad B.

Update: after writing my honest 1 star review below, the owner decided to privately message to let me know that I shouldn't have left a nasty review. Not only is food mediocre, but customer service is also horrible. Super disappointed - I ordered a veggie taco and received a store bought tortilla, packed with lettuce, cheese and slice of avocado and a small cup of salsa on the side. The taco was 90% lettuce while the menu explains the base as bean and corn salsa. Don't waste your time!

I was fortunate enough to have found this truck to attend our neighborhood community get together this past Friday and the food was awesome. My wife and I specifically loved the pork belly tacos. The meat was perfectly cooked, tender and flavorful. Not only was the food great, the truck was impeccably clean. The owner / chef, Jack, was a pleasure to work with and very good at what he does. Highly reccomend.

    Salmon Sushi Tacos!

Have you ever seen a SUSHI taco before? Neither have I. Tacosaurus rolled into Mizner Park on a Friday afternoon for a "Lunch On The Lawn" event at the Mizner Amphitheater. I'll admit, I peeked at each of the food trucks' websites/Facebook's for photos of the food prior to waltzing down to the lawn. The gentleman taking orders was super friendly and nice. When I asked if he thought the salmon sushi tacos were good, he said yes. He promised me they were "photo worthy" and that was definitely true -- see my pics! For about $14, I received three tacos and a water. These tacos are seriously some gourmet eats. The shell is made of seaweed, the innards were sushi-grade salmon, sushi rice, spicy mayo, cucumber, and jalapenos. I demolished them!! (This is a good thing, in case you were curious.) Overall, I can definitely recommend Tacosaurus and urge you to give 'em a try!

Today we tried…read morethe rotisserie chicken and the Weekly Feature aka the "WTF" taco which was a lemon pepper chicken taco. I loved the pickled celery on it. The margaritas are good for a chain and a mix. I always add a Grand Marnier floater! The gentleman who cashed us out and took our order was friendly and helpful. He made my margarita full to the brim and rimmed my cup with extra Tajín! Then when he brought it out to me he even pointed out where there were extra limes. ‍

I liked it. I didn't realize it was an order at the counter place but that's okay. The staff brings…read morethe tray right to your table when it is ready do that was nice. I looked the staff. Super nice and attentive. There were only two people working that I could see, a gentleman who may have been the manager and a young lady. The man was so respectful and helpful when we said it was our first time. He pulled out the menu and went through it with us. The wall menu is also super helpful. As the tacos are mostly over $6 each, I noticed they have a combo for two tacos, a side and a drink. Great deal if you add two tacos, guac & chips and a drink up separately and compare to the regular price. I ordered the CHIMICHURRI STEAK* grilled steak, basmati rice, chimichurri, avocado, pickled fresnos, queso fresco, flour tortilla. I found this flavorful but I didn't thoroughly read about the rice. I don't care for rice in my tacos. But other than that. I liked it. I also ordered the HATCH CHILE PORK. guac, poblano slaw, pickled fresnos, queso fresco, micro cilantro, corn tortilla This was nice & spicy. Tortillas and all the ingredients seamed very fresh. For my side I ordered the guac and chips. The guac is delicious. Very refreshing. I think the chips are store bought but they are blue corn which I prefer anyway. My husband ordered the GRILLED SALMON. napa slaw, lime crema, pickled fresnos, corn pico, avocado crema, micro cilantro, corn tortilla. He said it was delicious. He also ordered the QUESA BIRRIA. pulled pork, gruyere, queso listo, pickled red onion, micro cilantro, griddled corn tortilla, birria consomé for dipping. He said it was good but lacked flavor. My only negative, and I don't want to necessarily blame the staff as it is the owner's duty to hire enough staff to care for the place. But the floors had little pieces of food spilled everywhere and the tables were sticky. Same with the soda and condiments area. It needs a good cleaning through day. The staff were super busy making food and serving guests. They need to add an additional employee to assist these guys. I'm sure we will be back at some point.

While they don't have a…read moreparking, it's located in the heart of Old Town so parking is free on the street and in most surface lots. I found a spot in the surface lot right across the street from one of the most popular Mexican restaurants in town. Ambiance (4/5): The Mission is a nice restaurant. There's a small patio in front and a large patio out back. Sit at the outdoor patio if you can pull it off. Inside is great too, and there's nice artwork both inside and outside. The only issue? It's a popular restaurant and they try to pack in as many people as possible so space is at a premium. That also means that if you come at a peak hour, like we did, it's going to be pretty loud. Service (4/5): There was a wait when we arrived and the bar was full (first come, first served). Luckily, a group was leaving right when I lingered by the bar and we were able to snag the seats. The bartender did a pretty good job taking care of us. There was room for improvement as far as her efficiency and checking in, but overall, given how busy the restaurant was, pretty good. Drinks (4.5/5): The Mission has an interesting cocktail list. As you'd expect, it's tequila-focused but there's a good variety. You'll find creative cocktails which is always big in my book. Plus margaritas like prickly pear margaritas. I went with the correndo na chuva which has cachaca, passion fruit, lemongrass, sherry, and lime juice. Cachaca is a Brazilian liqueur which you don't see in many places so this was a treat. It was a refreshing cocktail. Lots of spicy cocktails are available, too. Food (4/5): While the brunch menu is pretty extensive, I think there's a clear winner: the all-you can eat whole roasted pig out. For $19, and only on Saturdays and Sundays during brunch, it's a steal of a deal. You get pineapple roasted shoulder and pork belly carnitas tacos served with your choice of one of five sauces. There's a little buffet stand where a member of their staff will make the tacos for you. I had about 10 of them and they hit the spot! Nice variety of sauces so I tried all of them except for one (two spicy for my blood) and you can request flour tortillas if you prefer that over the corn tortillas they have. Between the two proteins, I thought the pork shoulder was more flavorful and tender. It's no surprise that The Mission Old Town has some of the most Yelp reviews in town. It's a popular restaurant. Just make sure to make a reservation or stop by outside of peak hours or there's a good chance you'll have a wait.
