When we used to live in Scottsdale we'd frequent Julio's Too at least three or four times a month. The food was so tasty and affordable and the atmosphere so casual. It was such a cool place to hang out. Fast forward to 15 years later, it's just not the same. Obviously prices went up and that's totally understandable. However, their food just didn't taste how it used to. Salsa was on the bland side, my pollo magnifico was greasy and soggy, it used to be so good, now it's just sad. One thing that did stay the same was the prompt friendly service. Order at the counter, take a seat and they bring you your food. Parking was a little tricky during lunch time, just an fyi. Maybe on my next trip to Scottsdale, I'll give them another shot. read more

Great service, very kind people working there, small location worh only 6 tables inside. Food was meh. I ordered a chicken and cheese quesadilla but it had tomatos onions and celery inside, very liquidy and wet quesadilla. Maybe add that, that stuff is inside the quesadilla so people will know. read more

Julio's is one of the best deals in Old Town. Food is always good, fast, and consistent. There are a lot of people who work in Old Town and you can always see them eating before their shifts in the night clubs. Ordered the green chile burrito enchilada style. Pork was tender and green chile was super flavorful. The rice needs a little moisture as it feels a little dry. Wife ordered the carne asada chimichanga. Food very flavorful and we added more hot sals. Chips and salsa comes with every meal. Great place to stop by and get delicious food fast. read more

When my husband and I pulled up, there were four police cars pulling out. I told myself that either this place was delicious or ghetto. It turned out that the food was a hit! The staff told me the spot was 40 years old. We got more than enough food for our family of four at only about $60. Four tacos, pork, rice, beans, two burritos... everything was delicious. The only thing I'm bummed about is I think they forgot to give me the chips that were supposed to come with the salsa. I got salsa, no chips. Other than that, we really enjoyed the food. So did the children. I would definitely like to return to try some other options. Also, the staff was very kind and helping me choose an item since I have a food allergy he was very patient and made some recommendations, even pointing out some options that would not work for me. Kinda low end, with relatively inexpensive, relatively flavorless food and a vaguely icky room and patio that didn't really do much for me. Inexpensive drinks and great HH pricing are a plus. The service was just lovely, though: our counterwoman was a charming delight. I don't want to discourage anyone from coming: Julios, Too may be just what you want. Don't hope for a knock-you-down/revelatory foodie experience, though. It's a hole-in-the-wall, but it's not THAT hole-in-the-wall that you sometimes dream about. read more

I've been coming here for years. Small parking lot and 1 handicap parking space. Cute patio and small indoor seating. This is counter service. Staff is always kind and helpful. I have tried most items all food. Great lunch specials. Today I got the chicken mini chimis. This is a off menu item. It comes with delicious dip of cream cheese with green chilis. Plus they give you fresh chip and salsa They will give extra if you ask. I get 2 meals out of it. $13.51 with tax. Good value. read more

Been awhile, but stopped here for a $13 lunch special. I tried the pollo ranchero which was oddly like a Mexican chicken parmesan. The sauce wasn't too bad and the cutlets were easy to cut with a a plastic knife and fork. The bad things were a giant bucket of not si fresh chips sitting on the counter and the rice was not good at all. Still no white meat unless you order what got or fajitas. read more

I stopped by Julio's Too for lunch and was authentic Mexican food! They have some great lunch specials that are definitely worth checking out. I ordered the chili relleno and my friend got the two crispy chicken tacos. We both enjoyed our food! We also had the pomegranate and watermelon margaritas which were good! What really stood out to me was the rice--it was SO good! Perfectly seasoned with peas and carrots. It was a great compliment to the meal. The service was friendly and quick, and the prices were very reasonable for the portion sizes. read more

Julio's may be the heaviest, lard-centric Mexican food I have ever sampled. Even having small portions makes me feel slightly queasy for the rest of the day. It isn't particularly tasty either. I only eat it because our office sometimes has lunch catered from Julio's. Give this place a pass - there is much, much better Mexican food available in Scottsdale/Phoenix for a similar price. read more

Coming here was a real treat for me. My girlfriend in high school and I ate at Julio's former full-service restaurant on Indian School Road all the time back in the day (called Julio G's). It was our favorite place to eat at. Julio G's opened in the late 80's and was pretty popular back then. This location is their second restaurant down the street and is a quick-serve version of Julio G's (hence the name Julio's Too). The full-service restaurant eventually closed and I haven't been back since. I was driving down Camelback Rd and was surprised to see that this take-out location was still open. I thought for the longest time that all of the Julio's locations had closed up. Julio's Too is still mostly take-out, but does has a small area with tables for dining in. Julio's Too serves traditional Mexican food and does it in large portions. I love Mexican food that blends all together. I grabbed some food to-go and enjoyed my stroll down memory lane. Everything was wonderful and I'm looking forward to a return visit next time I'm in Scottsdale. read more

I've dined here for over 20 years but enough is enough. Since COVID the quality of their food has drastically gone down along with their portion's. Their use cheaper product which leaves the food well below the level they once were putting out but yet their menu prices are going in the opposite direction. Unfortunately this seems to be the way of the new world we live in. All this combined with them closing an hour earlier that the hours posted on the door is enough for me to cut them from my rotation, permanently! Very bad way to do business. Ok, this was the best burrito I've ever had. When we walked in, we overheard a debate about Julio's t-shirts and I thought. "C'mon, who wants a T-shirt from a Mexican food joint". I get it now, the food was amazing, fresh ingredients and care in preparation, the music was all over the place, but didn't disappoint and even the counter service was amazing. I'm new to Phoenix and this is officially my favorite burrito joint. Well done Julio's Too, I'll be back. read more

What a fun spot. Just east of Fashion Square mall. My friend told me it's one of the surviving spots in the area for decades as other bars and trendy clubs have gone into old town and the area. It's got a 50s diner vibe, playing oldies on the speakers. Super friendly staff. Good prices and lunch specials. Their beans and rice were very tasty. They give you chips and salsa with each meal, which is legit. Can't believe some Mexican food places who charge for chips and salsa for the table, especially any here in the valley. Not a lot of parking and limited seating, so come prepared. Great stop for some quick Mexican food. read more

Julio's was my go to place. Recently, we ordered to go at lunch, the Magnifico and a cheese crisp. The crisp was light on cheese and no chilis. The magnifico was very little of the cheese sauce ( which was a stand out) Like someone forgot to smother ? The chips and salsa were great! Hopefully it was a short staffed day read more

Man do we miss Julio's Too, when we lived in Scottsdale (44 years) we would eat Julio's at least once a week for lunch or dinner. We now live in Denver and trust me the only place to get REAL Mexican food is in Scottsdale / Phoenix area. Hands down the area has the best Mexican food in the western states. with Julio's being in the top 3. We have drove to Scottsdale area from Denver 870 miles just for the Mexican food. We have a trip coming up for 5 days 1st of March. This trip we will be bring Julio's to Denver using dry ice. read more

A local gem!!! We went to Scottsdale for a conference in 2021 and learned that Scottsdale is known for chimichanga. Julio's Too popped up on the search at a reasonable price, so we decided to give it a try, and got hooked. Julio's chimichanga is absolutely delicious! We got green pork chili, red meat chili, and shredded beef. All come with a choice of green or red sauce, very generous amount of guacamole and sour cream, shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes, rice and beans. We went with green sauce and it was so delicious. The burrito is huge and filling is generous. Lunch special is from 11am - 4pm, and it's around $10 per dish. Hot chips and salsa are served while we wait for the food. Service: Beyond excellent! Every single staff is very friendly and helpful, especially David. David really enjoys serving people and it reflects on the way he takes care of us genuinely. We stopped here on a trip and wanted an easy lunch. This came up on the way to hotel and it was easy to order, good food that was done quickly. Perfect for us! I wish we could have sat outside, but the weather didn't cooperate. They have a small dining space, but it accommodates small and bigger groups. Large lunch portions too. Overall, the food was DELICIOUS. That was probably one of the best Mexican food places so far. They also gave my son a Sprite for free! The employees said we were nice, so they just gave him one right on the spot. We ate outside in the nice 71 degree weather with no wind. The seating was nice, it was pretty clean, and I think it was great. The food portions were really huge. We had multiple To-Go boxes of food. Something I might do next time is order a little less food, though (even though it will be hard because all of the food is so good.) read more

This has been my go-to guilty pleasure Mexican food place for the last 5+ years. The service and people behind the counter have always been so genuine and friendly despite the ups and downs over the last few years with COVID restrictions. I always get the Julio's appetizer platter which comes with a wonderful array of different types of foods. I use to throughly enjoy this place but the last couple of times have been a bust. While picking up my food tonight, one of my tacos (1/2) came completely broken and my food was very cold. The tacos were very greasy and the cheese was all clumped together. I was craving tacos but these did not cure that craving. This place slaps! It's got the best hometown vibe with a retro flare. I've had many quesadillas in my life and am pleased to say this on ranked high up on the list. The spinach con queso is the perfect consistency for chip dipping and just mouthwatering. I've had great meals on their outdoor patio and enjoy the big portions so I have leftovers! I'm excited to see they have great lunch special and look forward to coming back to try more of the menu. We wanted to try something off the beaten path and with more of a neighborhood feel. This place hit the mark. They have lots of outdoor shaded seating and 9 tables inside. We gave our order to a nice guy at the counter and took our complimentary chips and salsa to the table to wait. The chips were fresh and still warm and mixing the mild and hot salsa created a great blend for us. We both enjoyed our lunches - good flavor and nice portions. They may not have been the best we've ever eaten, but they were solid and we had no complaints! We got our drinks and sat outside and in no time our food was hurried to our table exactly as ordered. The chips were crispy and the food was not only huge but was wonderfully flavored. My sister and I ordered different menu items and we were both groaning about how good everything was. E could have easily split a meal but next time I come I won't split anything but will take leftovers home for sure. Yum! Service was good, the cashier explained the menu very well. Great portions and reasonable price on all. Parking was ok a little tight for a suv but we managed. Food came out pretty fast. My issue was later the food was a bit greasy that I needed Tums, other that everything else was fine The place would not hurt for new decor needs update since it's dated and a sticky and smelly.
