After playing a round of disc golf with my son we were hungry for breakfast. The place was clean and we were greeted immediately upon arrival by our Spanish speaking hostess/waitress. There were only a 3 other customers so of course the service was speedy. I ordered the breakfast burrito with potatoes and a cup of coffee and my son ordered a plate of 3 tacos, El pastor, tripe and carnival asada I believe. We both agreed that the food was delicious and we enjoyed the variety of choices at the salsa bar. My breakfast burrito was huge with just the right texture and a little bit of crunch on the outside. The prices were reasonable, the food was good, service was commendable and the place was clean. I would go back for the breakfast burrito for sure. read more

Been a while since I've eaten here and it was good for the first few visits and then went down hill a little, BUT now the bar has been raised and they are pumpin the food along with the tunes. There is a a little bit of a language barrier but we got through when I placed my order. Chips and water were brought to the table quickly and then I headed for the salsa bar. Standard offerings of salsas and cut veggies all fresh and tasty, the spiciness of the salsas has dropped imo so the flavor of each is more pronounced. Before I returned to the table the food was served hot and fast. My god the torta was HuGE! Probably had at least two whole avocados of guacamole on it along with a healthy serving of meat, beans, lettuce and cheese which was a great! My taco was simple with just meat on a fresh made tortilla, the meat was perfectly seasoned and super tender. The quesadilla was falling apart with the amount of steak filling it as equally as flavorful and tender as the torta. I went today at dinner time, it was a really terrible experience, i ordered a taco plate with 2 asada and 1 barbacoa, my tacos didnt have anything, no onions, cilantro nothing just meat. So I went to the salsa bar and all the veggies were frozen, i asked the cashier/waitress for unfrozen food and she said that was all they have until next day and it was barely 5pm so i refused to pay and eat those plain tacos because they never told me about this when I ordered it. On a last minute quest for finding some authentic tacos, my boyfriend and I stumbled on this place before turning around. I was relieved when I smelt the heavenly scent of carne asada. Authentic - carne asada! We sat ourselves as I quickly scammed the menu. I didn't care about tortas, or burritos, or plates... just give me some cheap tacos that allowed me to eat them in an efficient manner. My mouth started watering when I glanced at people's food arriving at the table. I ran for the salsa bar and grabbed all the cilantro, onions, and lemon slices my little hands could get a hold of (love love love it!). When the food arrived, I observed it - and yes it looked edible, threw all the extra crap that makes anything taste good on top, then stuffed it in my mouth. Yes... definitely was edible. Aside from the major portions of meat that my flour tortillas could hold, the carne asada and al pastor tacos were filling. My boyfriend literally had to roll himself out of the restaurant. Very disappointed with my stop in. When I arrived there was over six empty tables all covered in dirty dishes. I was confused with the set up because it appeared that you order at the counter, but the waitress was going back and forth between the counter and ordering from people's tables. So after I had ordered we had nowhere to sit, and our hands where full with salsas. This used to be a favorite but even before Covid it was starting to decline. Had lunch there this week and ordered carnitas tacos and a carnitas plate. I don't know what they did but the pork tasted unsalted and the taste of lard was strong they looked like they were damp with grease. The four tortillas were old as well. We wont go back. To bad. Pacing myself for the next two stops, I once again had a single taco al pastor. This was outstanding -- luscious little cubes of tender, flavorful meat. No pineapple, though, what's up with that? Maybe you have to ask for it. Dave had ordered extra pineapple on his taco, and they really loaded it up so he shared his supply with me. Adding a gourmet touch, the pineapple here was grilled. Wow, now that is a taco. This was my favorite al pastor of the tour. Everyone seemed pretty well pleased with their selections. The salsa bar is gorgeous and well supplied. The only disappointment is that the beer on the menu has not yet come to pass. Darn. I'm sure that means it's just awaiting approval though, and then -- oh boy. Man was I disappointed in this location. Maybe it was an off day or something. It was Sunday, incredibly busy and the wait for food was terribly long. Oh well, I just got done busting my butt doing some house chores and needed a break so FH and I strolled on down to get lunch to go. I had been to the Colfax location many times and always had tasty tacos. Well, not this time and definately not here. I ordered lengua (tongue) tacos and a barbacoa gordita. My FH ordered adovada tacos. As we loaded up at the salsa station and waited for our order, we observed the one lone gal waiting tables, taking orders, and answering the phone. She was busy! We sat at the bar area (no bar, but looks like one) and watched mexican rodeo reruns for a while, listened to music, looked at the CD's for sale outside and finally, our food came. We whisked it off to home and dug in. What followed afterwards was just plain yuck. My lengua meat was tough, like rubber and full of fat. Did I mention salty? I felt like I was eating meat marinated with salt lick or something. I think I had at least 3 glasses or water to with my tacos. Ugh. As I looked at my orange gordita, I had hope, BUT, was let down. My gordita was full of barbacoa fat. The meat was hella white (full of fat) and floating in grease. *Sigh*. My FH's tacos turned out to be asada instead of adovada and were like eating rubber nuggets. *sigh* again. I guess I could see why the order was wrong. One lady doing all the work could've mistaken adovada for asada while talking on the phone juggling plates. Overall, won't go back. I can get better tacos down the street. read more

I would bellyflop on burning hot broken glass for good machaca. So, maybe you can imagine how happy I am after trying dozens of small Mexican restaurants that I finally found some. I've eaten here now a dozen times easily. For about 5 bucks I get a machaca burrito the size of a Yule Log. For 6 bucks I can get a machaca plate that's a take out container HALF full of meat. That's gotta be 5000 calories in there. Seriously, I couldn't finish it and I was full for the entire day. The place is clean, and the Mexican "umpa" music is so loud you need to speak up to order. It's also fashionable painted in lemon yellow too. WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE!!! One more thing I love is the salsa cart is very clean and well stocked. My friend has been telling me about tacos y salsas for about 3 years now and have never gone till last weekend. This location is about 200 yards from my grandparents house so it is very convenient. First off, the menu is in spanish which is no problem for me but to others it might be confusing. They place is VERY clean inside and the employees were super friendly. We ordered 11 carnitas tacos, 2 pastor and a side of rice and beans for 4 people (carryout). The salsa bar is probably the best I have seen/tasted and was kept clean unlike some places. We got home and realized they shorted us 3 tacos which kind of sucked but we were starving so ate what we had. The tacos were some of the best I have ever had. They were huge too, usually I get 3 tacos from most places and they dont fill me up. I got 1 pastor and 1 carnitas down and attempted another pastor but could only eat about half. The rice and beans werent horrible but not excellent, could take or leave them. All in all I will be back many times in fact I am craving it right now. I would also like to try one of their tortas. Dare I call myself and my guy a "regular" here? YES YES YES!!! The staff is amazing, there are no words for the feeling you get when you see Mom behind the counter making everything from scratch. The bright yellow walls with the blasting music transports you into anouther world completely. I personally have a hard time with overly spicy food but they do it just right. I love the quesadillas with their homemade Sour Cream you can't go wrong. They have a huge salsa bar that the guy takes part in as I can not handle that hot stuff. I do really like that they have chopped onions out all the time. Never have we had a bad meal here or even a bad experiance with the staff. This is a new location for Tacos y Salsas I believe and its a very clean one at that. Service was prompt and the food was on the grill in no time. The salsa bar was small but had plenty of different salsas, I counted 11, to choose very along with the usual garnishes, cilantro, onions, etc. We got our food and man 'o man, there was alot! The torta was huge and had all the good fixings, and tons of meat! I had to eat it with a fork and knife. The tacos were great as well, served plain with no garnishes but overflowin with meat, tasty delisious meat. The pollo was moist and very flovorful. The beef and pork where good as well, but the chicken stood out for them all. This shop is, as I would call it, open late, "kinda" their open till 1am on the weekdays and 2 on the weekends. so not too bad hours. read more

Dinner at Taco's y Salsas. Kids had Asada taco's and a plate of rice. The rice wasn't anything impressive and the asada was OK. Mama had the Chile Relleno plate. The beans were tasty, fresh and flavorful and the relleno was smothered in a green chile sauce, Mexican style chile sauce, not Denver style pork green chile. I had tacos...muchos tacos. The taco's were fat, on fresh tortillas and full of meat. There was some lil lady there, pressing out tortillas. God bless that lady, they were the bomb. Fresh made all the difference. The Deschada (?) was good, flavorful i dig it. The Al pastor was good, a bit salty for my liking, but delicious none the less. I dig it. The Adobada was good. its a spicy mother (shut your mouth). It was missing the pineapple I've become used to at other taceria's. Not my favorite of the 3, I was expecting carne off the honey comb but i got minced meat tossed in red sauce. I wouldn't kick it out of bed for eating crackers..but I wouldn't go out of my way for it either. Overall the place was pretty good. I think we'll be back. Word. read more

yum! this place was delicious. i had steak tacos and a carnitas gordita. when they first came, i was disappointed because they were a little bare. i asked the waitress for some lime wedges and she pointed me to a salsa bar! there were at least ten or twelve compartments in the salsa bar, which was a free-for-all. i loaded up on lime wedges, three different kinds of salsa, and pickled radishes. best part was that i didn't have to pick onions out of my tacos - i could just not get them at the salsa bar! it was also ridiculously cheap. i had two tacos, a gordita, a jarritos soda, and the boyf got a flautas dinner plate with rice, beans, and guacamole. we were uncomfortably full and the bill was still under $15. yessss. my only complaints would be that the guacamole was kind of tasteless and they did not have tamales. read more

The prices are reasonable. Vast menu from Tortas to burritos to tacos and everything in between. They dont serve alcohol here or have fountain drinks its all in bottles besides the Fresca drinks. Let me just start off saying that we went to this place on a hangover..... BIG MISTAKE.... I ordered a chicken taco for my son, chicken and pastor tacos for my BF, and a chicken taco for myself and a "chicharron" taco... Now I don't know about you, but when I hear chicharron I think of crunchy yummy goodness.... So naturally who wouldn't want a chicharron taco.... WRONG..... My tacos came out and my "chicharron" taco was this white blubbery blob if fatty shit in a corn tortilla... It was F'N SICK! Did I mention I was on a hangover??? Just the stench alone from the taco was making me nauseous... it smelled so bad I couldn't even eat my other taco. So I sent it back. Not even taking one bite out of my food, my appetite was ruined at this point and I didn't want anything else. I just wanted my money back. I asked the waitress and she refused to give me a refund!!! She said they don't do that there. I asked her to speak to the manager, she has another guy come and talk to me, and he tells me the same thing... So at this point I'm livid. And I'm telling at the waitress to give me my money back. She says the owner isn't there, so I told her she better get them on the phone. She does.. And finally I get a PARTIAL REFUND. I love this place, everything is fresh and very plentiful. I've only purchased tacos there, which I absolutely love. I've seen the soups (caldo de pollo/Cameron/Rez) and they look delicious. I always order One of each taco lingua, bucche and carnitas. They have hey huge salsa and chili bar , plenty of condiments/sauces and peppers to go with your meal. For $2 you get a taco that is incredibly delicious and huge. I highly recommend this restaurant if you enjoy tacos and Mexican food. read more

It is always outstanding. I love the employees too - they are always super friendly. The salsa bar is to die for! I load up on every last option (not like I'm going to dump them all on my burrito, but for later!). I probably look ridiculous hauling around 18 of those little containers, but I don't care, I'm a glutton for salsas. We were in this neck of the woods today visiting Rancho Liborio and decided to give T & S a chance. I am SO glad we made the drive across town! I pretty much knew it was going to be good when we walked in and noticed that we were the only non-Hispanic people in the restaurant. My brother and I each ordered 3 tacos and a Mexi-Coke. I had the al pastor, asado, and barbacoa. My bro got asado, barbacoa and carnitas. He liked all of them but thought the carnitas was a little dry. My hands-down favorite was the asado. It was crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked and seasoned. I believe in lime and some cilantro on my tacos, so that's how I had them. The tangyness of the lime went really well with the flavor of the meats. I also was feeling adventurous and decided to order a lengua taco (tongue). Not something I would order again. Some of the pieces were soft and stringy, while others were fatty and chewy. I couldn't stop dissecting my taco to look at the meat (what are all those little white circles?!?). I couldn't make it through the whole thing. Loved the salsa cart, too! Tried all of them. I'm not a pansyass Gringa where spice is concerned, but I definitely found the salsas to be pretty spicy. Finally, I tried Tacos Y Salsas. I am so glad I did! I went with my husband and as usual, we ordered a lot of food to get a fair sampling. Three tacos (chicken, carne asada and pork) and also a gordita. The gordita is a type of sandwich and was HUGE and also very tasty. The tacos were also delicious and we were happy to see that they do not skimp on the filling. My favorite was the chicken, though the carne asada was a close second. Best of all, everything was super affordable! Tacos Y Salsas has a full salsa bar with lots of goodies. We loaded up and also asked for sour cream, which they provided in generous amounts. The waitstaff was extremely helpful and polite and the entire experience was a good -- and delicious one. So good! We will definitely be back. Like, maybe even today. read more

I don't know what happened here. I really have no idea. I read all these reviews and they were all super positive. My girlfriend and I went and I was not impressed. The food was decent, but nothing spectacular. She got chicken flautas and I ordered the asada quesadilla. Neither of us were wowed. The waitress gal wasn't super helpful or friendly either. The restaurant was dirty and while I like dives, disappointing on the whole. There's divey and then there's dirty and this crossed into dirty. I did like the salsa bar, but we only got 1 basket of chips. The waitress came over once but that was it. This place may be a hybrid waitstaff/counter service, I'm not sure. No one else was going to counter asking for anything. I'm going to come back here again, probably by myself because the lady wasn't impressed, and give it another go. After my first trip to Tacos Y Salsa I've been back numerous times. I've tried every taco on the menu now and I have to say the tripe is pretty tasty. But the pollo and carneceria are by far the two best. Both are pulled meats cooked on the flat top grill. They are so succulent and juicy yet have a little crisp to the outside of them. I'm a fan of quesadillas and they do them up plain but right. Cheese and your choice of meat. Served up with some guac and sour cream then it's up to you for salsa selection. The gorditas are a bit greasy for my taste but once again they use those meats muy excellente. ** Now I don't know why it took me multiple trips to realize what I was witnessing but they are making their own tortillas fresh throughout the day at Tacos & Salsa. That is always a killer bonus in my book. You knows it's going to be good when you walk in and are literally the only white people there. The entire menu is in Spanish, which luckily I know. For those that don't, be prepared with a translation app ;) We started with chips and guacamole. The guac was very tasty and fresh, but very heavy on the tomatoes. I'm not a huge tomato fan so I just picked them out. To eat, I had the quesadilla al pastor. OMG amazing! The meat was so flavorful and juicy, almost like an Asian flavor. Huge portion but I ate it ALL. My husband had the chicken enchilada plate with rice & beans and a pulled beef tostada. The enchiladas were very spicy - beware! Both items were absolutely delicious though and again, big portions. Our waitress was less than attentive to our needs. She was running the whole place solo and there were probably 6 families there and at least 3 walk-ins while we ate.
