Fantastic, local's, family run spot, that has been around. It's your token hole-in-wall gem, commanding loyalty from regulars of local workers and families. Including me, since I tend to stop by for lunch a lot. If you don't know it existed, most people would blow past it since it's in the far corner of a strip mall, behind the Szechwan/Sichuan restaurant, near the Pick Wick liquor store and the 7-11. Tacos Omanas. It has tacos in the name, so get the tacos! Not that their other stuff is bad. I get their nachos from time-to-time, and I can't say their style of burrito is my favorite. But all the varieties of tacos just hit the spot for me. They come out fast, piping hot, pre-seasoned, pre-salsa. And oozing with goodness. Yes, all the tacos, whether you get it normally or dorado style, there is no elegant way to eat them. They are drippy, hot, and get all over the place. But steak picado, asada, buches, shrimp, and even their fish tacos are oh so satisfying. Not offensively spicy, but enough bite to complement such a beautiful, soulful, home-cooked taste. Wrapped in real tortillias, with real substance and texture. I can't say this is the absolute best, but it's one of my favorites when I'm in the area and need a quick bite that satiates the spirit. read more

Try this little hole in the wall place hidden in the back of the 7-11 strip mall. The cook rolls the tacos with one hand pretty cool. Non stop people for a sunday night. Inside has a handful of tables to sit both takeout orders and sit in's. Not a long wait for orders. Chile Verde burrito very tasty the pork was shredded I am used to chunks it had a little kick to it the beans were very good I would like to go have a bean and cheese burrito. We also tried the steak picado taco recommended as one of the favorites the tortilla was dipped in something but it was good tender pieces of meat bathed in the goodness of onions tomatoes, that makes a sauce. We also had chicken taquitos comes with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, avocado sauce, laying on green chili. I made the mistake and had the cream on the side, but that makes the whole taquito is super good. The cream is very tasty. Wasn't a fan of the chicken that seem like it was overcooked for the taquito. They have taco Tuesday every taco for only two dollars. If you want to try the different tacos that they have. read more

Great small spot for delicious Mexican food. My son and I shared the carnitas plate or rather, my son ate the carnitas plate and I took a few bites. He loved it. My husband and I ate at the El Monte location back in the 80's and 90's and now glad to have the West Covina near home. I love the fried tacos dipped in red sauce. Delicious! Really enjoy the Spanish music played while we sit and eat. Atmosphere is authentic Mexican small taqueria. Breath of fresh air in a city with little truly authentic ethnic food. Tucked away behind a strip of stores with a Laundromat, liquor store, nail salon and 7-11, honestly you wouldn't ever just happen across this place on a walk, but it came up on a search, and it's so close to out home that we decided to check it out. So glad we did! We love the carne asada tacos, served wet with red salsa, messy but so tasty. And for something crispier we get the potato taquitos, which are still loaded with toppings. read more

Excellent service & excellent food. Tried the taco plate today cause get three tacos, beans & rice. The beans are really good. They are not only the perfect smoothness but very tasty. Rice is nice - dry not wet. Now the meats! Three tacos - chicharon (red or green sauce), carnitas, and and buches. All three were very tasty. Buches was new to me but reminded me of pork roast on a minor level. Tasted more like pork than the carnitas. The chicharon was not the chunk of meat version. It's the skin itself so it's soft. Btw, the green sauce is awe--some! My friend had the fish taco (prepared Ensenada style), the carne asada and adobo. She liked all of hers and she went back to get tacos to take home to family. Her brother also loved the fish taco! Pretty much everything is good here. My friend said the steak picado is also excellent! The food was amazing. Went in because the wife was hungry and we just left ikea and thought let's get a little something before dinner. Found this place as we were looking for a street taco stand and went in. My wife ordered two chicken tacos and I got two sopes of asada with a side of rice and beans. Here's where it gets real good. The beans and rice were so perfect and the Asada so good that I had to order a Asada burrito to go just to check if in fact, this place was great so later that day when I got home once I started eating that burrito I could not stop. I ate that thing so fast that I was kind of disgusted with myself. The food was great and as much as I really dislike going to ikea I will gladly go just to get some of that great food. read more

Located in a shopping plaza just west of Barranca, next to a laundromat, Tacos Omanas has been around over 40 years. Our usual taco place was closed for Labor Day, so I found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Prices are reasonable, restaurant is clean, food is good. We got the California Burrito w/ asada, an asada meat burrito, a carnitas taco and pollo taco. My family still prefers our other taco place, but Tacos Omanas still hits the spot for our taco and burrito cravings. read more

I was in the area and decided to stop by since a good friend recommended this place a few months back. I was pleasantly surprised at the authenticity of the chile verde burrito. Just the right spice and as tender as it could be. The flour tortilla made me feel that I was in Sonora. Will be back for the rest of the menu. read more

Wow, bad experience here. First timer and stopped in for a burrito. Young lady at the register greeted me, which started off good. Asked what the burritos have in them (meat rice, beans, cilantro, onions, etc)...she said beans and meat only. Surprised, I said ok. Ordered the steak picado burrito and man was I disappointed in this Mexican Restaurant. I don't know if I ordered the wrong thing but the burrito literally had just beans in it. No veggies, maybe a couple pieces of meat, it was falling apart because of the massive amount of beans. I couldn't believe the cook actually made it the way it came out. Reading the reviews, looking at the picture, I don't want to believe it but this place is a one star for a comfortable feel while you eat. Tops for the Worst burrito I've had ever. I'm in the area often and would love to stop by again, it'll be tough. For now, I would not return and don't recommend. read more

My coworkers have been here before, but I tried it for the first time today. It was alright, but different from what I expected from a typical Mexican food place. I got the California burrito and it was good. Good sized burrito with the usual ingredients and $11.00 is a pretty good price nowadays. I also got a couple of tacos, asada and chicharron, and they were not as good as the burrito. They ask if you want red or green sauce and they smother it on the tacos so it is pretty messy. I think you can ask for it on the side if you don't want your tacos so messy and soggy if you're taking your order to go. I also didn't see any cilantro and onions that you usually get on tacos. Not sure if you're supposed to ask for them or if they just forgot. Never had chicharron tacos before, but this was just way too chewy and i couldn't eat it. If I'm craving some Mexican food, I might come back and try some other stuff on the menu, but I'll stay away from the tacos. read more

I came in today for the first time, after my sister insisted we come here. We are definitely Foodies and she kept seeing this location all over her Instagram page. So we decided to try it out. Walked in and were greeted warmly by the nicest cashier. Hate that I wasn't able to get her name but she was amazing! Telling us about the food and sharing her recommendations. As I was telling the young lady we are first time visitors, a young gentleman who works there, not sure if it was one of the owners or not, was doing a video for social media of the food and literally offered me an order of nachos that they had been filming. So stoked about that LOL not to mention the nachos were freaking fire! So good and tasty. I think they're best known for their Chile verde, if you're a sissy like me LOL, it might be a little spicy. But the flavor is definitely there. Wasn't a big fan of their crispy tacos as they were a little bit soggy. But overall this was a wonderful experience and we will definitely be back. Using my trusty Yelp app, I typed in Tacos from the bus stop in Via Verde, this place popped up....I'm very familiar with the area...but, =cold not picture this place. After stopping by, it is tucked back into the corner of a small strip mall. I'm sure glad I found this place....I've only had the chicken tacos, which, I asked for as hard....and they are awesome. My Mom thought they were a bit spicy for her, but, for Dad & I, perfect. My son and his GF got the taquitos and they thought those were great as well. Recently moved into the Covina area.. and decided to try these out since I used to go to the one in El Monte when I was younger. Clean establishment and super fast service. There were three orders ahead of us and I dont think we waited longer than 7 minutes for our order. Really enjoyed that. Ordered tacos without the sauce and a quesadilla. Quesadilla was yummy. I like the cheese that they use. The tacos were also very good. I do find a lot of fat on the meat so if you like that, then yay! if not, you will probably have a problem eating them....other than that...Super good! read more
