Birria Con Consume
Alan G.

What a great find to stumble on. It was quite by accident, we just pulled into the parking lot to "Yelp" a spot for a quick lunch and there it was, and the few reviews on Yelp were all five star. And those five stars are deserved. Between us we have the Birria Con Consume and and Huevos Rancheros. Both dishes were great! From the house made tortillas, to the often over looked refried beans (which we're the usual mash and either soupy or too thick, these were perfect with just enough whole bean left to give them a nice 'bite'), every item was done with care. Even the chips and salsa were not the standard obligatory kind, the chips were house fried and the salsa as good as any. As others have mentioned the place is spotless, I think they've only been open since earlier this year? (2024) The pricing is very reasonable too. Can't wait to go back, likely this weekend.

Shoutout to my friend Eri G who turned me on to this spot. She had good things to say so I was eager to give them a try as they are a new business in Oxnard. Tacos Mis Gallos is tucked away in a more hidden section of this shopping center so it isn't easily seen from the Main Street or drag. I can sense this is why this spot isn't more busy, we need to get the word out there! The interior is still a little stark and maybe with time they'll get more tables. That was the only part that didn't reel me right in from the outside but once I really walked in I could see they have cute murals on the walls and the small attention to detail on the tables was much appreciated. Adorable salt and pepper shakers (see my picture). They are new so they don't have a wall menu up yet but outside they had a chalk board menu and at the register they have their menu laid down on papers. Didn't mind this but you're not able to stand back from afar and read any menus. The staff were very sweet and nice. You could tell they were excited to get new customers in and were attentive and made me feel welcomed. Definitely love supporting local small mom and pop restaurants for this reason. I ordered a asada taco and a pastor burrito. They had my food ready within 5-7 minutes so that was great. Everything was hot and tasting fresh. Both meats were very yummy. The asada taco was a classic, not much I can say other than it hit the spot. As for the burrito I normally don't get pastor but I'm really happy I ordered this here! The meat was flavorful but didn't have that overpowering pineapple flavor that some places overdo. It was mild but flavorful. I was also in the mood for simple burrito toppings and I like that they don't dump too much in this burrito. It came simply with the meat, rice, beans, and onion. Really tasty and made me appreciate each bite. Prices were also super reasonable I couldn't believe it. A massive burrito and taco for under $12. A real steal if you ask me. This spot is cute and I definitely can't wait to come back! The perfect spot for a simple but tasty meal.

I was feening for some tacos and remembered a good friend recommending Tacos Mis Gallos, thanks Eri! I love a good mom and pop spot with delicious food and enthusiastic service. Tacos Mis Gallos is exactly that hole in the wall - until word gets around! I ordered an asada burrito and three pastor tacos to go. The meat was so flavorful and tender, you can really tell they marinated it a good while. The food came out quickly and prices are a lot more reasonable than surrounding spots. I'll definitely be back for another quick fix or to try other items on their menu!

Great place ... a hidden gem for sure! Only open for 6 weeks! Took the place of Chingon bakery in this strip mall! I love burritos! The burrito de asada did not disappoint and for $11, a great price too. I loved the flavor of the asada, the rice was fluffy and the beans greatly seasoned. The salsa casera .. uff. I asked for more. To drink , I got Jamaica. Very refreshing! I also really liked the murals on the walls. They also sell housemade pan ( Mexican bread). Place is kept clean. Great customer service! I will def be back! There weren't many customers that stopped by while I was there. Fam run and you can tell they care about what they do! I highly recommend you stop by and try this locally owned spot! So happy I did!

Underrated spot for sure. Highly recommend. Prices are low compared to a lot of other spots, but the food is top tier and delicious. Service is really good too. They don't make you tip when you pay. They give you free chips too. We asked for a water cup and they gave us a water bottle for free. And they both the yellow lemons and green limes. We went in during the last hour of it being open and didn't see anyone in there eating. I highly recommend it as a small business to support. We need more great businesses like this in the community.

A place recommended by a contractor who fixed our windows in Oxnard California. The man claims this…read moreis the best Mexican birria he's ever had in his life. With that being said, I wanted to try it out. This was about 2 years ago prior to this visit I had today at this location. I jotted the note down after overhearing him talking about it while watching Netflix. When arriving, the environment outside is run down, old fashioned and in the scary graffiti, homeless surrounding. Parking is difficult to find, but we got lucky me and a colleague. The place is on a road side where parking it located a few streets between about 100 feet away. The surrounding had graffiti and loitering which was unpleasant and I would imagine it is worse at night, be careful here! Inside, a wonderful aroma excites you as you enter the restaurant. Booths all around and hard uncomfortable seats. A lot of people came here today on Sunday afternoon. Customer service was excellent, the guy at the front was very chill, polite and acted as if I was his homie, buddy or good friend. This is what I like. I ordered the birria of course, a meat drenched in a bunch of flavors for days to keep the meat juicy, tender and moist. The variations ordered were three tacos plate with birria, onions cilantro and a consome that was massive. This meal was $17. The other order was a four piece birria quesadilla that was absolutely delightful, succulent and had a delicious hunger craving aroma and flavor that any starving or hungry person would die for! This plate was $14. The tacos did come with beans and rice. Between the two dishes the birria quesadilla was my favorite however, the tacos tasted better. The tortilla of the tacos was fresh and made with love. The value was regular, something I expected compared to taco trucks and side vendors of Mexican food. This place is extraordinary. I felt guilty after consumption because it was fatty, juicy and everything you would want in a pleasurable meal, but it was heavy on the calories and filling. It was a messy meal, I added salsas, more seasoning from the condiments bar. There were so many different sauces and fillings like lemon etc. to balance the flavors of the birria. The console incuded was an added kick that I loved. Definitely one of the best if not the best birria I ever had and I highly recommend this place if you like Mexican cuisine at its finest. An absolute hidden treasure that you need to try! I'll come back after a month of consistent cardio and strength training to burn enough fat and make room for another appetite that soothes my brain cells.

Food was delicious, we had it delivered and it was packaged well, food was hot and arrived quickly.read more
