a close up of a tortilla

I've bee going here for years, it use to be great . today I ordered huevos rancheros , it was the worst I ever had here. they always put onions bell peppers, etc . today is was plain nothing on top. tortilla dry eggs dry , no yolk whatsoever. ordered mole, got no meat, and waterey mole. not thick all. the mole . in the market iat actually thicker and taste better. got flour tortillas hard burnt not warm and taste like old outdated thick masa flour tortillas. ordered carne asada plate , but got desmillo meat instead, but charged or asada. Today walking I to pick up order, there were two new waitresses and I guess a new cook. I don't know if there new owners or what. but food really sucks now.

Walked into this place just to walk out. The place smells like old human urine. Frankly, I'm surprised the city of Los Angeles' health department rated this place an 'A.' Although It was super sketchy outside, I was willing to give it a try. No thank you!

Tacos Los Betos is a local hole in the wall Mexican restaurant that serves many traditional Mexican dishes as well as burgers and fries for low prices. Their Taco http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/tacos-los-betos-el-monte?userid=IS9yw8P2uAPBX6FNLLX4KA#LANvKeXaV4r0CXiml3AeWA is no longer $1, it costs about $1.25 after the tax. Their salsa bar is quite good which includes the avocado sauce, similar to, but better than El Pollo Loco. They've got a TV showing a Mexican channel. Parking is convenient, with a lot and plenty of street parking. It's close to the I-10 Freeway, on Baldwin Ave in El Monte. Don't come here if you want healthy food, as some of the meat, like Chorizo, is actually fried to a crisp. Torta and Horchata are also available here. For under $5, you are better fed here than you would be in a McDonald's nearby.

They take a long time to cook your food just joking around, also when you walk in you get a smell of fish tank.

Ordered fish tacos, the filets were almost burned, dry, and hard and hard to chew, had to throw them away.

The chicken soup is not worth the money. The service was slow even though there was little business. I wouldn't recommend this place

I've been here a grand total of twice…read more My first experience was problem free. Kudos. The second visit "could've been better" (which Yelp suggests that a 2 star rating would be appropriate to indicate): we placed quite a simple order - 2x Strawberry Sundaes. We took our number placard (#52) and sat at a table to await our order. After patiently waiting what I would estimate to be approximately 15-20 minutes and seeing quite a few other people served their orders, I did find it odd that it was taking so long to prepare 2x sundaes, so I located the young man who took our order and politely inquired about it. He looked a bit confused, exchanged some unintelligible words one of the guys on the grill, and then looked back at me and said it was not our turn yet (or something to that effect). Okay, fair enough. Maybe there were many orders ahead of us. I took it in good stride and went back to my table. After waiting approximately another 15-20 minutes and seeing that *Order #70* was being given their food, I realized that there was a problem and went back up to the ordering counter. I ended up talking with an old man (who I presume is the owner/manager). I explained the situation, and he inquired who had taken our order. I looked around, and the young man appeared to be nowhere in sight, but I did mention it was he who had had taken our order. The old man apologized and assured us he would take care of our order right away. Sure enough, I saw him beeline to the ice cream machine to start our sundaes, and he delivered them to us within 2-3 minutes. He apologized a second time, stating that it was the young man's 2nd day on the job, and that he otherwise would not have forgiven the transgression. In my experience, the resolution to the absurd wait could have been handled worse (in theory, the old man could certainly have told us to pound sand rather than apologizing and immediately attempting to correct the problem and quickly getting our desserts after being made aware of his employee's failure), but also could have been handled better (comping us for the trivial cost of the sundaes as a remedy/cure would have more effectively salved our irritation from the unnecessary waste of 30+ minutes of our life, and would have been in-line with remedial efforts I have experienced at other eateries, including similar fast food/burger joints). All that said, the sundaes were quite good. They would undoubtedly have tasted better had they been served in a time frame reasonable enough to not spoil the mood. I get that this is not a fine dining restaurant of any sort, but I still expect staff competence to be no worse than that of a McDonald's baseline level. I also get that humans make mistakes, but ... how did a simple order of 2x sundaes get botched this badly, particularly after a good faith attempt to bring the matter to staff's attention??

Tonight we decided to switch things up a little, and hubby ordered the bacon cheeseburger. Normally we prefer the quarter-pound patty, but this one was slightly thicker, which definitely made us feel full a lot quicker. That said, the burger was still super juicy, had the right filling-to-meat ratio, and came on that perfectly soft bun that holds everything together without falling apart. Solid choice. I stuck with my usual chicken breast salad, and it was delicious as always. Fresh, satisfying, and dependable -- although I'll admit I'm still not a fan of bell peppers, so those got politely pushed to the side. One thing I have noticed over time is that the fries seem to be getting a little smaller in portion each visit. I also miss the thicker-cut fries from about six months ago -- those were my favorite. The current ones still do the job, but the old style definitely had my heart. Overall, this is still a definite must-try spot if you're craving a good burger. Consistent, satisfying, and always hits the spot. Happy eats!

It definitely helps to know that they use fresh instead of frozen ingredients. I like that the burgers are very customizable. Personally, I am a fan of a protein style double-double burger with grilled onions and raw onions. Sometimes I'll order their fresh, hand-cut french fries if I'm feeling extra hungry. However, the fries do not taste very good in my opinion. They can be dry and cardboard-like, but adding some spread or ketchup helps make them better. Prices have remained very affordable here. It would be great if they had some indoor seating though. Unfortunately, there is only minimal outdoor seating available. If you don't want to use the drive-thru (which always has long lines during peak hours), there is a counter to order from outside.

The food was delicious and exactly the fresh quality you expect from In-N-Out! However, be warned: this is a tiny, takeout/drive-thru only spot, and the logistics are tough. Do NOT park in the lot, there are barely any spaces, and I got completely trapped trying to leave because the endless drive-thru line blocks the exit. Walk here if you can! It might be because I parked and ordered at the window, but the wait time for the food was around 25 minutes. I recommend just sticking to the drive-thru.
