You walk into a simple restaurant layout with a few tables outside. You order your food and they take the food to your table. The cashier was pleasant and provided excellent service to my wife and I. The prices are on the higher end but they do provide a good sized portion. I ordered the Queso Birria Tacos and my wife ordered an Asada Flaming Hot Burrito. Additionally, we got a Michiagua de Pina (Sweetened Drink of Pineapple w/Michelada Sauce) to share. The tacos looked delicious and the cheese was crispy around the taco. The birria was packed inside taco itself which I was happy about considering the price. Unfortunately, the meat was bland which was disappointing. I only tasted the onion, cilantro, cheese and the sauce. I wouldn't recommend the queso birria tacos for this reason. My wife's Asada burrito was really good. The meat was soft and was full of flavor. The meat paired well with the Mexican rice, beans and hot Cheetos. I would definitely recommend the burrito. The drink was also delicious. The miche sauce mixed with the pineapple juice was a perfect blend of spice and sweet. I gave this place a 3 star review due to the bland meat in my tacos. Downtown La Verne has so many options. I'm a fan of Mexican food so I dropped in this place. It's nice and spacious inside. Simple layout with a very clear and bright menu. They have a self service monitor where you can order or you can order at the counter with the staff. The food was good nothing mind blowing but it is quality meat. I wasn't a fan of the sauce in the California burrito it caught me off guard. The habanero salsa has a good kick and great flavor. The horchata was good but we aren't here to rate the aguas frescas. If I could leave zero stars I would. The customer service was terrible. Waited for over 45 minutes for our food. Ended up asking for a refund to go elsewhere. We have come here multiple times as we love to support small businesses however, the feedback seems to go unnoticed and again we end up with food that was cold and not cooked to order. We were the only people in the restaurant and it took 40min for two meals. A burrito and chilaquiles plate. My beans were so cold they must have just been pulled out of the fridge and my eggs were not medium like I requested, in fact they were so chopped up and over cooked they were almost non existent. I was excited to try this taco place out for their bird Birria tacos. I got carne asada tacos for my son and I got the queso Birria and Birria fries. The carne asade had not flavor and very bland. The Birria was not Birria no flavor and the sauce also had no flavor and not authentic at all. Food was very expensive for my son and I. Ambience is crowded and disheveled and unorganized. When they to turn on the jukebox, it's too loud to even have a conversation. Maybe this was a soft opening, but actually received the worst service. Extremely disorganized and nobody knows what they're doing. Maybe in several months we'll try again but for now I urge you to stay away. I waited in line for a while, and when I got up to the register, they told me to take a seat that someone would take my order. Never saw a server for a while. Several families behind us proceeded to order at counter and sat down. They actually got their food before us. I advised the staff that we hadn't received any orders and all their excuse was that they are backed up. The female employee in the red hat appeared to make sure her friends or family were served their food first before several people that were in front. An hour and a half of waiting and my 4yr old daughter was hungry. We were about to walk out. It was then that we did receive our food that was not even worth it. We couldn't even enjoy the food. We left, paid and left a bunch of tacos on the table. We went to a fast food drive thru on our way home. We are regular customers here, specifically on taco Tuesdays. The food, specifically their chili verde deserves a good 4/5 stars with their pastor deserving 3.5/5. I've had better pastor but for the price, I'm content with these flavors. My suggestion for the pastor is to add more flavor and minimize the water build up which make the pastor taste bland, thus taking away from the flavor. My boyfriend enjoys the chicken 4/5. The servers are a 5/5. Very sweet and kind. One of them has even remembered our order. They're always so accommodating and attentive when they can. Suggestions bc we enjoy coming and support small business: -Minimize the wait time. Too many workers to be taking this long for tacos. Have one taking out orders, distribute the chips and salsa, ... establish a system that's more efficient. What is established does not work for the busy days. I think the wait time will sabotage your Yelp reviews...definitely a growth area. This establishment has a lot of potential.
