Nachos with veggies

Outdoor dining, and a fulfilling dinner with leftovers. Their salsas and food are top tier. I have never been disappointed. As of now the dorados and enchiladas are my new favorite. Their fresh agua frescas are a must have, and overall a great experience with dinner during hot summers. This place has my heart, and they always do a good job despite the current inflation.

This is how they sent three tocas horrible presentations

Didn't teste bad but I thought there was only two tocas because it was squished together. The presentation of the food is disgusting I didn't even want to eat it.

My Dog enjoy the outdoor seating. I enjoyed their Bistec Cemitas.

This place has to e most authentic Mexican food in all New York. With the outdoor seating my dog got to enjoy all the action going around. Definitely coming back when I come back to New York. *****

This place should be ashamed of themselves. If you are low on inventory then tell your customers that you are out of items. I ordered enchiladas rojo that were in red WATER (not sauce), I had to scoop them with a chip to eat them. $10 Pico de Gallo that was literally chopped onions and cilantro. It was clearly garnish. Nachos that had NO CHEESE!? Fajitas with TWO tortillas on the side. I feel completely taken advantage of. I was charged $65 for this meal. I left a $10 tip. Crooks.

My dinner was the steak quesadilla and my wife had the carne asada on corn tortillas. I usually order the al pastor tacos on flour which is fantastic! Tonight my newest favorite is the steak quesadilla! I'm coming back for this!

However, I'm happy to report that I dined here recently and had a better experience. Since the time of my initial review, La Casa remained in my periphery - mainly because my parents periodically visited and it was a frequent stop of one of my friends who lives in Bronxville. That being said, I was curious to check out La Casa again - and that opportunity came when my mother chose here to celebrate Mother's Day. La Casa is located just off the main commercial strips. The interior is pretty spacious with a bar towards the front of the restaurant and the main dining room split in two sections. The decor is somewhat under-toned with a cool color scheme and tasteful decor. This is in contrast with other Mexican restaurants that tend to go overboard with the kistch and warm colors. I will say the seats look a little tired, they could use some re-upholstering - and were a little lower to the ground than I expected. In addition to the indoor space, they have an outdoor section which was done up very nicely. The brunch menu contained a selection of apps, sides, quesadillas, tacos, and sides. We decided to start by splitting a few apps: brisket and al pastor tacos, a quesadilla, street corn, chips and guac, and more guac with tuna. All the apps were tasty - the biggest standouts for me were the quesadilla and the tacos which were all generously filled and had good flavor. For my main, I got the camarones a la diabla which were shrimp in a red pepper sauce placed atop beans and paired with bok choy. The dish was pretty good - the shrimp could have been a bit snappier, but I appreciate that they de-shelled them and the sauce and beans worked well with them. Dare I say the bok choy was the star of the dish? It had just enough flavor and added a needed green. We opted for dessert, and I got the grilled pineapple which was paired with (per the menu) vanilla ice cream or guanabana sorbet. I wasn't asked to choose, and was served the sorbet. I would have liked to have been given the option, but maybe that's all they had - fwiw the sorbet was good. The pineapple was candied and came as a large, thick ring - definitely needed a knife and fork to cut it up (which they provided); this was a good dish in concept but I think it can be executed better. Service was good, everyone was friendly and efficient. In my experience, service tends to be the weakest component of a meal on a holiday, but they did a great job. Overall, I had a good experience at La Casa. Even though it's not in my backyard, I would definitely return if the opportunity presented itself.

And they were flavorful, delicious, hearty, and worth every penny. I ordered the fajitas de pollo y bistec (chicken and steak). While the three flour fajitas were found to be lacking for the whole assignment, it's okay--I used the leftover meat (and beans and rice I ordered as a side) to make a lunch plate the next day. A little salty, but mostly well seasoned, moist, and never bland. I also got the burrito de pollo/chicken. I did not eat this immediately, but kept it for lunch the next (TWO!) days. Fat and packed with chicken, pinto beans, cheese, onions, cilantro and salsa, this was filled to the brim with with smoky flavor and a HUGE portion size. The rice and beans were rich, deep, and filling. They have tapas: guacamole, elote, empanadas, tamales, tostadas and more. They have a birria taco platter, sopas, ensaladas, enchiladas, quesadillas of all kinds (chicken, steak, cheese, shrimp, veggie, squash blossoms, corn mushroom). Tacos, chimichangas, burritos of all types of meatiness, chilaquiles, Platos fuertos (all sorts of blends of chiles, nuts, peppers, meats, sauces, etc). And so much more. Based on how great my TAKEOUT was! I can't imagine how amazing it is in house. Would definitely try again and again.

Everything felt watery, and while I understand that some locations may cater to people who prefer milder food with more moisture, it just didn't work for me. I had the beef birria. The texture was all right, but it was very saucy without much kick. It honestly tasted more like a generic meat filling rather than something with the bold flavor I'd normally associate with birria. The rice was forgettable, there were a lot of chips, and the drinks were okay. This was just an average spot. I wouldn't come back unless they made some noticeable improvements. Maybe if you're tired and just need a quick pit stop, it could work as a one-time group experience.
