    Steak tacos

I was in the mood for tacos and my daughter recommended this place. We decided to eat there and the food was fresh and delicious. Steak tacos were on point. My family ordered the suadero tacos and we loved it. My hubby even got the tripe soup and he was so happy with the big bowl of soup. Definitely coming here again!

Great Mexican spot that opens till 1am. You can trust locals and it's always packed with them. Tacos are awesome, regular sized tacos are massive. Soups are amazing tons of flavor and it's also great potions. Weekend's are the always best for dinner because they are so lively and filling warmth and fun!

Anyone who lives in Sunset park knows this restaurant is nothing short of a neighborhood institution. With flexible long hours and fresh food at reasonable prices, there is so much to love about this neighborhood staple. Nestled right by the 45 St R train, this place has been dishing out succulent delicious tacos and I am absolutely here for it. Their truck on 5 Ave is a neighborhood gem but I also love coming here for the sit down experience. This time around I ordered chips and spicy guacamole- loved the flavors in the guac but the serving was a little small. My friend ordered tacos and their birria is my favorite. I love that they added the cheese option as well now, so do good! I went for the quesadilla trio because I heard a lot about it. My only complaint is that the quesadillas could have more cheese inside, but the beef was absolutely delicious and chock full of meat and a total dream. Their chocolate mousse cake is my favorite dessert in the neighborhood- but it always arrived frozen rock solid whether you deliver it or have it in the restaurant. They really need to stop storing that in the freezer, it completely ruins the dessert. Other than that I love that service here is always no frills and that they're open late. A true neighborhood gem!!

Guacamole is 9/10, I would've liked it a bit spicier. Birria tacos were very good, the consume was on point, 8/10. Bistec encebollado portion was very small but the steak was tender and flavorful, 7/10. The waitress was meh, not very familiar with the menu. I asked her what kind of beans came with the plate , she had to go back and ask someone in the kitchen. Then she told me black beans and gave me refried beans. I wasn't a fan of refried beans, I would've asked for no beans.

No frills spot for good fresh tacos with different protein options and upgrade options (add guacamole)! There is a cash discount but the establishment also takes cards.

One of the best spots for authentic Mexican food. It was a rainy day and decided to stop by the restaurant to dine in. Me and my bf got the mix green enchiladas and tacos, both were really delicious. Can't go wrong with either dish. Portions were huge and reasonable price. Tacos were $3 and mix enchiladas was $16! Food came out quick, server was nice. Definitely coming back when I'm around the area.

    Saying ramp available upon request

They have a label saying "Ramp available Upon request" sign We have ask for a ramp and they decline the request and to lazy to pull the ramp outside until we told them we will leave , as soon as we about to leave they saw me on a wheelchair paraplegic, they decided to pull the ramp

Great service, happy people, fresh food and improv music. The service is great. Our waitress is always smelling and making our dinner so welcoming. She gave us extra salsa and chip. There are lot of space for seat service and it wasn't busy for our dinner time. Food is delicious. Someone else ordered fajita but I settle for a burrito. It's filling and good amount of food. There are so many things on the menu and I need to come back. Occasionally there will be people playing music for tip while you are eating. It's something to just accept.

Quesobirria taco with consomme - super delish!

Recently came back to eat here & tried their special (quesabirria w/ consomme) & their spicy pork tostada! We also ordered 3 al pastor tacos which was our usual! Quesabirria w/ consomme - this item was listed on their specials. WOW! I had no expectation for this, but this item wowed us! The cheese birria taco was so deeeelicious! It was super cheesey w/ super soft stewed meat (I think it was beef) that was marinated so well! That consomme was crack! I would reorder this! Highly highly recommended! Spicy pork tostada - Another must order! I loooove tostadas because of their super crunchy texture! So much textures & flavors! Super delicious! Highly highly recommended! I would reorder this again in a heartbeat! Al Pastor Tacos - I always order this because I just think their al pastor tacos are one of the best in NYC! It never disappoints & always has so much delicious flavors! It even tasted good when I dunked it in the birria consomme & added the red & green sauce! Staff was very friendly and attentive! Tons of seating inside & outside. We went on a very busy sunday during lunch time, but I was happy to see that this shop is doing very well! I want tacos el bronco to continue to be successful!

Excellent tacos and burritos! The decor won't win any design awards, but the food is delicious. Extensive menu with lots of different Mexican options, from tacos to large platters. Service was good, it just took longer than expected to get both the food and the bill, so plan accordingly.

    Torta barbacoa (goat) $10
    Xavier I.

Sunday 6/2/2024 I got a takeout order of 3 small tacos (pollo, pastor, suadero) $3 per taco and I got a torta barbacoa (goat) $10. - tacos (pollo, pastor, suadero) * the suadero was my favorite: it was tender, flavorful, and tasted authentic. * the pastor was decent and it even comes with the little pineapple peices to help add to the flavor. * the pollo wasn't bad but it was pretty underwhelming. The meat was dry and didn't have as much flavor to it when compared to the other tacos I got. - Torta barbacoa * when I first tired it, my stomach reacted poorly and I think that was due to the variety of flavors I tasted that were mainly coming from the the jalapeños and avocados that were on it (note: I'm not a fan of avocado). * once I removed those 2 toppings its was more tolerable but it was just okay. Bread was decent and the meat was average. Overall, my experience was okay but nothing special. I also wouldn't completely write it off as they do have many other dishes outside of their tacos & tortas that could be significantly better. Note: I forgot to try the sauces that came with the tacos so maybe it could've changed my opinion for the better but it is what it is.

For all the hype about these tacos, it was really nothing to write home about. Ordered carne, cabeza and tripe tacos and was excited to see cabeza on the menu as it is hard to find here in nyc. Tripe and Cabeza had flavor but were both dry. Had to add a lot of salsa, at least that was good.

We ordered the Lengua, suadero, fish, chorizo carnitas and cabeza tacos. Not many places do cabeza tacos so we were definitely excited to see this on the menu. We ordered the large tacos so it came with the guacamole. It definitely needed the guac because all the tacos lacked flavor and tasted very similar except the fish and chorizo. I could not even tell the difference between all meats. I usually love the cabeza for its fattiness and the Lengua for its tenderness, but all the meats here were just dry. The tortilla was very good and fresh though.

I arrived at 12:15 p.m. on a Thursday and was seated immediately as a party of one, despite the restaurant being completely packed. If you're hoping to grab lunch--especially with a group of two or more--I highly recommend getting there around 11:30 a.m. The service was thoughtful and attentive even at full capacity. I started with an IPA before ordering the star of the show: the Dry-Aged Cheeseburger (recommended medium), priced at $34. It completely lived up to the hype. Easily one of the top three burgers I've ever had, alongside Au Cheval and Nowon. Red Hook Tavern doesn't overcomplicate things. It's a "run up the middle" approach to burger-making: simple execution with exceptional ingredients. The top bun is slightly dense, while the lightly toasted bottom bun perfectly soaks up the juices. The patty is grilled beautifully, the cheese has an incredible char, and the onions underneath help balance the richness. It's a testament to how quality ingredients and precise execution can produce something extraordinary. I'd be remiss not to mention the cottage fries. They're unbelievably addictive and the perfect supporting act to the burger. Red Hook Tavern is a true NYC institution, and I highly recommend making the trip to Red Hook for this burger alone.
