So why not. She found this place through yelp and we walked from our Airbnb in our search of tacos. When we got here first impression was it's a hole in the wall which I love. We got our orders sat down with our beers and waited for our tacos which were made right in front of us. I got three tacos Shredded chicken, pulled pork, and beef. All seasoned perfectly not overly cheesy or saucy just right. They all had great flavor and satisfied that not no more pasta craving we were having. They had vegetarian and fish options as well. This place does not disappoint! My fiancé and I had their food for lunch the 2 days we were in Rome. It is not your typical Mexican tacos, it's different but delicious. And everything on the menu is less than 5 euros, you can't beat that! I had their pulled pork tacos and the pulled pork burrito. I definitely recommend. However do not show up at the time they say they open. We showed up and were asked to wait outside for 20 mins so they could set up. Like most other reviewers, this was found when I needed something other than pasta and pizza. The food skewed towards the sweeter side without much spice. Despite not having an "authentic" flavor, the food was very tasty. Consider yourself lucky if you can snag a table, as seating is very limited. Don't understand how this place has four and a half stars. These tacos are really disappointing. I'm assuming most of the people in the review section were NOT looking for an authentic Mexican taco joint and were satisfied with the "Mexican inspired" style, lack of authenticity and flavor. Or maybe most people that rated this place were so fed up with pizzas and pastas that when trying something different for once made them really like it. After being on a quest to finally find an authentic Mexican restaurant with decent tacos in Rome, the place I've been wanting to go had ran out of meat (something very common in Mexico because that means the food is fresh and good!) so I came here instead. I have nothing against Mexican inspired or Tex-Mex food, I've had plenty of that before but these tacos were something else! (not in a good way obviously) Tacos look promising on the outside but left me asking: "what did I just eat?" Call me a taco snob (well I have to be: lived in Mexico and California) but who serves small soft tacos on a flour tortilla? And what in the world is jalapeño jelly? Guacamole did not taste fresh at all nor had any flavor. Spiciness in their so called "spicy sauces" was non existent. Also, they tend to overcompensate for the lack of meat or protein by putting lettuce and other random ingredients on top. This place is either a tourist trap, or I just have really high expectations for tacos but I left the place categorizing my meal under "cafeteria food." Why the extra star? Three tacos for €5 is budget friendly and the tacos themselves were dang delicious. We got the classico, Pavo real (normally vegetarian but added chicken), and el Gordo. I recommend all three. The tacos have a nice spice kick to it too. Gluten free options here! No corn tortilla unfortunately but they can make nachos or pair the taco toppings with rice. I have no idea what there's negative reviews. It's cheap, it's good! The nachos are perfect! Beef, chicken and pork tacos. Were honestly perfect. With sooo much pizza and pasta around, this is a perfect change. You can't really complain about the pricing. The quality is good. People are nice and it's pretty live. We were visiting Rome and got tired of eating Italian food every day we are Californians and we were missing our Mexican food. We found this place on Yelp and saw that it had some pretty good reviews and the well the whole theme is tacos and it's not a difficult thing to make, But wow did this place find the way to screw up a very simple Mexican dish. The staff was really nice but the food was horrible the nachos tasted like it had canned chilli on top and the tacos didnt have a good taste either the salsa on top was a bland guacamole and their "spicy" sauce tasted like Tabasco this place is not authentic at all not even close I'm Mexican I would know. The ingredients were fresh and complimented each other well. We also ordered some nachos (Guacamole + Jalapeño Jelly) delicious as well, although the chips could be better (generic, store bought). Tip: Fry FRESH tortilla chips! It will make all the difference! All in all, I would definitely come back here. The food was good and the service was great. Please visit this place if you need a break from bread, ham/cheese sandwiches, pasta and pizza. I guess I'm feeling generous with the five stars but this is exactly the sort of place Monti needs, and I love it for the diverse options it brings to an already hip neighbourhood. This place does exactly what it says on the tin, serving tacos and beer, as well as burritos, Mexican-style cocktails and nachos covered with various toppings. The prices are very competitive, but this is a pure street food joint - there are a couple of stools along a bench, but plan on eating in the cobbled street outside, or taking your food away. The portions aren't huge but the food is well curated and with different toppings every week, there's always something new to look out for. Try tacos or burritos with classic fillings like chile con carne or opt for cool avocados with a sweet jelly and soft cheese. Delicious. The only beers available are industrial ones but there's something about an ice-cold Peroni with spicy street food - it really hits the spot. Expect to pay around €2.50 for a small lager. Tequila based cocktails cost a little more. The real highlight of this place however is the tacos - at 3 for €5, they make a perfect snack.
