Shout out to the tortilla lady preparing those fresh all day! The refried beans were really runny- I should have asked if they offered whole pinto beans as an option. A girl who sat us ended up being our server but took a very long time for her to come back out to even take our drink orders. I had to ask the guy bringing water and tortilla chips who our server was. Once our server arrived she was very nice and answered our menu questions. I ordered the the spicy Mamacita and my friend ordered the pina colada. Both drinks looked cool but mine was very sweet, not really spicy at all and was tiny for $15. I think I mostly paid for the presentation part...flower, popsicle, etc. We both ordered the 3 taco trio and the food came out before long. I had a mahi mahi, carne asada and a taco macho. Again, the food wasn't that great: rice and beans had an off flavor, octopus was chewy in the taco macho, and the mahi was a bit fishy. We took half our food to go and checked out. All in all I would not come back unless it was out of convenience due to the location. The food and drinks have a nice presentation, but the taste of everything wasn't there for me. Although our server was really nice and my friend and I were busy chatting, the service was slow.

Tacos America #2 in Gilroy is hands down one of the best taco spots around. This location is right off Monterey Road near Farrell Avenue, and for me, it's even more convenient than the original location on 10th Street. I absolutely love their tacos, especially the shrimp tacos, carne asada, and al pastor. Everything always tastes fresh and full of flavor. What really makes this place stand out is the fresh, homemade tortillas--you can definitely taste the difference. I haven't tried their burritos yet, but based on how good everything else is, I'm sure they're great too. If you're in Gilroy and looking for some seriously good tacos, give Tacos America #2 a try. Fresh ingredients, great flavors, homemade tortillas, and delicious tacos. In my opinion, this has got to be the #1 taco spot in Gilroy, hands down. Highly recommended! read more

Disappointing Experience at Tacos Ameca 2 I spent $25 for a very basic order: a kids bean and cheese burrito, one small tostada, and a Jarritos lime drink. For the price, the portions and quality were extremely underwhelming. The tostada fell apart immediately and was made with whole beans that wouldn't even stay on the shell. The burrito was nothing special and definitely not worth the cost. The salsa was also disappointing. Despite there being only one person ahead of me, the wait time was unreasonably long. On top of that, the dining area felt run down and not very inviting. Overall, this place is quite expensive for what you get, and the experience did not justify the price or the wait. My recommendation is to spend your money at a nicer establishment, with higher quality food, and atmosphere. read more
