It's order at the counter and then sit unless you are at the bar. The menu was a bit confusing from the classic to wok tacos and how it was outlined but we figured it out. Nice save. Parking when they're busy is a bit much but we found a spot around the corner from the door and walked to the entrance. You walk through their outside dining area which is all covered but because it had just rained it was a bit muggy for us so we opted to sit inside. The place has multiple floors and I really like that set up. We were sat upstairs on the second floor right by the top of the stairs. Looking around you can see another floor with a reserved area, tvs showing sports, and their salsa bar, more on that later. No chips and salsa here. Chips and Charro Bean Dip. The beans tasted refried and charred if that makes sense. I lost at rock, paper, scissors so I had to go visit the salsa bar and bring back dips to try. They had some pretty good ones like their homemade chipotle dressing, salsa verde, salsa de molcajete, etc. There wasn't one that we didn't like. Our server was really great and took care of us well. I got a Tamarindo Margarita and to eat the Enchiladas Poblanas (chicken enchiladas with mole sauce, queso fresco, raw onions) with the normal side of refried beans and rice, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and guac. I got a side of extra cheese because I'm a little rat and dumped it on them. The mole sauce really hit the spot. The last time I had it the sauce was kinda bland but this gave such a nice sweet and earthy flavor. He got the Molcajete Azteca (lava rock bowl with char-grilled chicken, steak, chorizo, shrimp, queso fresco, grilled cactus, onions, avocados, serrano peppers, pork rinds), same sides as my dish. He ''Oooh-ed" and "Ahhh-ed" and "Oh my God, this is so good" so you know he was a happy guy. I can see what all the hype is about. Definitely a place to visit.

Really, for this kind of Mexican food in Gainesville, this is one of the best places to go as far as I am concerned. We will be returning in the future.

With that being said, I've tried a variety of their menu items. They offer a wonderful variety of tex-mex dishes, burgers, soft-serve, and more. Another thing I appreciate about all their entrees is that you can customize them, include whatever meat you want, remove items, and add items. I really do appreciate this as it makes your meal truly cater to your cravings! This location is a takeout spot or drive-thru experience. There isn't any indoor seating spaces, although they do have a covered outdoor eating space. The service is usually pretty quick and friendly. I have never had any issues here with my order and I have always received the correct order within a reasonable amount of time. Everything is made to order and tastes very fresh as well. I would say the prices are fair and the portions are giving, depending on what you order. They do not offer complimentary chips with most meals though. On my most recent visit, I tried their nachos with shredded beef and churros. The nachos included a bed of their corn tortilla chips topped with black refried beans, jack & cheddar cheese, then topped with sour cream, guacamole, and salsa fresca. These were just ok and definitely not my favorite thing from here. I don't think nachos are served best as takeout and the chips got kind of soggy. There was a plentiful amount of the tender shredded beef though. The flavors were there, it just wasn't executed the best and I would probably opt for their tacos instead. I also don't love El Indio's guacamole as it reminds me of premade store bought guacamole. Their chips are also hit or miss...sometimes they taste very fresh and other times they are slightly stale. On this particular experience I didn't think I got the freshest chips. Their churros I got hit the spot and were coated in ample amounts of sugar & cinnamon. I thought these were a perfect way to end my meal and really enjoyed them! Overall, I really think El Indio is a solid spot for Mexican in Midtown. They have a solid business and are relatively close to campus. The food tastes very authentic, is fresh, and has a lot of flavor. While the nachos weren't my favorite, I love their tacos (all of the meats I've tried have been wonderful!), taco bowls, and their soft-serve is AMAZING. I truly enjoy ordering here and will definitely be back soon! I would recommend checking them out if you haven't already.

As a heads up for anyone wondering, they don't serve alcohol so this isn't a place to go when in the mood for margs. This place is close to my house so it's nice when not wanting to drive a long way. We went on a Thursday night and there was only one other family there. The server was nice, even with a language barrier. The most recent time I went I had a steak burrito and added cheese. It was probably the most flavorful steak burrito I've ever had in my life, and that's saying a lot. I was only able to eat half and even the next day was it still very delicious. My bf had the burrito supremo and he enjoyed his as well. We also had queso and it was a little thick for our liking but otherwise, not bad. This is for sure more of an authentic restaurant as they also serve sauces like mole so if you don't know what that is, you will be cultured. I look forward to returning!

The decor was very festive, but overall the premises have definitely seen better days. The wall paint was peeling in places and the ceiling tiles were stained. Definitely an older place. My husband's Toluca had an amazing flavor, but the ribeye was very thin and a little tough. Would recommend the dish but maybe the chicken version. All and all, we are not running back, but we'd come by again in the future if we're out on that side of town.

But now I have finally had the opportunity, and it was definitely worth it! Typically parked next to the old Hollander's Hydraulics building, this taco stand has been operating in the parking lot for the past month, and appears to be doing quite well. They now have their own porta-potty, mostly for themselves but I would assume guests would be able to use it as well if needed. Access from both sides of the road is easy enough as well as there is a cross-over of 441 right at the entrance to the parking lot. Their menu has all the regular things you would expect with a variety of meats... tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tortas, and tostadas. I went with an order of tacos and a burrito. Now, I have found that tacos have become a bit over-hyped, and therefore expensive for what you get. This was the case as well... while the tacos are good, I just found them to be a bit pricey for what you get. You definitely get a better bang for the buck when it comes to the burrito, and I was quite happy with it. When it comes to ambiance, well... it is a taco truck on the side of the road. There is plenty of parking, but nowhere to sit, so this is purely a grab and go kind of place for the time being. Perhaps as they become more established in the location they will have a chance to put out some picnic tables or something so people can sit outside and eat their meals. I will be returning when the timing is right, as it is on the way home for me!
