So this is the "fancy" El Indio, which in and of itself is a concept many old-time, original, El Indio fans probably thought would never come to be a reality. The interior is quite nice, fine for a family dinner or nice lunch with friends, and they have a full bar complete with signature drinks. They also have a patio with nice outdoor seating. The food is pretty much on par with the other two locations and you either like it or you don't. I would dispute that it's not the most-authentic Mexican but it's good overall. They have a pretty large menu but pretty tied to the dishes they want to do and are known for--you won't find the variety you'd see at La Hacienda in Ocala in example but you'll find quality and depth when it comes to certain things like burritos and taco options. Service however can be hit or miss but given that they're still newly-opened I can given them a bit of a pass there. Some days during lunch service has been speedy, others it's been horribly slow even though they've not seemed busy or crowded at all. Welcome to Jonesville El Indio!! I really like what they have done with this location. If you've been in Gainesville a while you're bound to have tried one of the el Indio locations. they are known for their sweets and drive-through locations. They have one that's on 34th St. and another on 13th on the university so it's popular with the students. The idea is to order your food and sit outside. They do not do full service at the other current locations that is until the Jonesville El Indio came alive. I love that they kept the integrity of the previous building: a fire station. They have created a tribute to the fire station by having a drink on the menu that showcases that and the some of the decor. They have full service at this location and a full bar with tvs and heaters outside!!! You can sit down and get served while enjoying a nice margarita. I think this was a necessity for this side of town. We have a had businesses around come in and try to do the order and sit and it doesn't go well as planned. They do not last. The set up is a little unique. They cook all the food in a food truck and still have their handy dandy drive through. They have a salsa bar with different salsa to try. My favorite dishes are the #6 taco and burrito special. Make it super! You'll thank me later. I love their queso it's got a little kick to it. The hurricanes and sundaes are so good!! This place is awesome. We sat outside on the patio. We came for lunch on a Saturday. The four of us split an elote appetizer which was very good. I shared a fajita bowl and two tacos. The first taco was my favorite. Try the lengua taco though because it is very tasty as well! Our friends enjoyed their entrees as well (enchiladas and tacos). We finished with churros. Atmosphere is nice but everything else . Salsa was too hot for me. Corn was nice. Fajitas was served not traditionally on a pan . It was in a cold plate and it's got cold fast as I was waiting to salt. It was so bland no flavor whatsoever.it came with 2 tortillas. But the menu said 3 . I even look up online menu but the waitress said no we charge 75 cents for third one‍ 20$ fajitas. Weird . Rice wasn't Spanish stile I'm not sure what it was tomato rice? New location - same great food! The restaurant was busy but the host found us a booth right away. Service was quick and friendly, making suggestions for what to try. Several TVs with football games on. This location has a full bar and local beer on tap. Fun decor and very cozy vibe. We got two orders of street tacos - one chicken and one carne asada. Both were generous portions and delicious. Plenty of spice! Kids went "north of the border" and got a chicken sandwich and cheeseburger with fries. Both enjoyed their meal. First time at the new L India and have been waiting anxiously for the opening. I have been eating at El Indio off of 34th St. for years and so I was glad that they put this one out by closer to my home. My. Impressions of this new business are the music is way too loud for people to enjoy a meal and that needs to be adjusted. The amount of time that we had to wait for our meal to be delivered for to go order is gone beyond. 30 minutes which is unacceptable and never would have happened at the old store. I haven't compared the menus yet, but the price is between the two businesses aren't even comparable. I have never spent this much money for two dinners to go for me and my husband. I can only hope that the food is as good as it was there, but I have not yet experienced the food. I'm still sitting in the parking lot waiting for it. After dinner summary. The hostess/waitress ordered Carne Asada for me even though I explained to her that I wanted a roast pork platter. Of course I didn't realize that she sent me home with steak instead of roast pork until I got home with it. The rice and beans were great. The little teaspoon of guacamole was in adequate. The steak was OK but I didn't want steak. My husband ordered three beef tacos. He did not enjoy them even though he did like the ones that we got at the old store just fine. They had an odd flavor to them that we couldn't quite place all in all. We will not return to this restaurant. It just has too many issues for us to spend another penny there I'm sure they'll pull in a lot of people because they sell liquor, but I need good food and I know I'm will not get it there. read more

Food is okay, nothing special~ very easy to make at home with basic ingredients. 2 stars not 3 because the wait for the food is totally unnecessary. They have signs everywhere saying "during busy hours it can take 30 mins" for the drive thru, but the food quality doesn't justify that type of wait. I ordered a shrimp burrito and the 3 surf and turf taco combo to go. The hostess who took our order crumpled up and threw away the receipt after the transaction. After waiting 20 minutes we left with our food. When we got home only one taco was included. When I called they asked for my receipt which I was never given. When they found our order they said I had not ordered 3 tacos but instead one. The manager then hung up the phone without resolving the problem and without an apology. Went to El Indio. No parking spaces so parked across the road. Our server was very nice and helpful. Queso and chips delicious. Ordered the fajitas platter with mixed meats. Refried beans were very good but pieces of meat very small and not much. Way too much bell pepper on plate. Overwhelmed the meats. Regular onions would have been better than the scallions. I have been here 3 times only through the Drive-Thru. It's not the best but not the worst Mexican food I have had. Just mid. Honestly, the best thing is the Churros, then surf and turf tacos and that is it. Half the stuff I got I wouldn't get again. The last straw was I got the super fajitas (shrimp, chicken and steak) were all rubbery and chewy, no flavor. Missing the guac and sour cream! Chicken nachos so dry I threw it away! Nothing comes with salsa or hot, med, or mild sauce. I timed them. I was the only one in line and it always takes a min 15 min! You just wait and wait and wait. Since there is only 2 cooks in the little food truck working hard but also cooking for the restaurant at the same time. No separate cook just for drive-thru. One time they forgot my drink and the kid didn't speak English so he just looked at me. Finally after 3 people and showing my receipt, I got my drink. Unfortunately, I won't be back! My experience of drive thru Taco Tuesday purchase was flawless! Great experience. The beef tacos left a little bit of negative taste due to absolutely no spices. Just bland flavor. They were properly prepared with condiments of lettuce, tomato and cheese but lacked a Mexican flavor. I'll be back, but they need to address the taco seasoning!
