Well you should've seen his face when I walked to the door and he finally connected the dots. The line wasn't long, but service was busy due to online orders. I heard so many great things about Tacobee's that I knew I had to visit. There sadly are not a lot of true late-night eateries open after the pandemic, but it's good to know Tacobee's is open every day until 3am. They are a short walk way from Nostrand Av (3) station or President St-Medgar Evers (2/5) station. As an ex-Chipotle lover, I was really curious to see how Tacobee's compared. It seems to me they have a wider variety of options overall, from protein choices (three different types of vegan options, three different types of chicken options, three different types of beef options, AND shrimp) to toppings (free queso and spicy queso, free guac for all vegan entrées) to sauces. Overall, I was very pleased with my burrito bowl, though I have to admit I liked the texture of Chipotle's sofritas better than the tofu at Tacobee's because the former absorbed flavors better. But, given the variety and freshness of all the toppings and protein choices, Tacobee's is an excellent alternative to Chipotle, especially if you like supporting small businesses. PS- There are no pork options because this is a halal eatery. They also have a late afternoon/evening chicken bowl special for teachers and healthcare workers for only $9.99! For Tex-mex on a budget this place isn't bad. Good space, a lot of workers and the place is usually clean! I only came one time and the tables were kind of dirty. Looked like they haven't been wiped down all day, so I just got my food to go. What I like about to-go or delivery is they have special packaging for tacos so they don't arrive all amess. This is a make it your way, kind of like Chipotle. You pick the dish ie., tacos, quesadilla, burrito, bowl, etc. Then you pick your protein I like the honey chicken or shrimp and then the toppings which all are fresh. They seem to cater more to the Ubereats and Grubhub orders , a took a star for that. Otherwise so many fixings they even have shrimp and a honey chipotle chicken as a protein. I came here after a late night out with my friends and this halal restaurant definitely fulfilled my tastebuds. This late night joint offered a variety of good options from tacos, quesadillas, chicken, burgers, and burritos and bowls. Chipotle might have to move over cause tacobees is a must. I got a burrito bowl with Mexican rice, black beans, half honey chicken, half shredded beef, onions and peppers lettuce and they have so many sauce options to choose from. Today was my first time at Tacobee's. I woke up busting out of my work clothes from all of this weight I keep gaining and my outfit decided it was time for a salad. I walked into this place and was greeted by all of the tasty Tex-Mex salad goodies. Tacobee's offers mixed salad greens, beans, a few meat and poultry options and veggie goodies like fried cauliflower. I ordered a salad bowl topped with shredded chicken, guac, corn, green goddess dressing and a lime wedge on the side. It was fresh and tasty. A big plus was that all of the hot cooked foods had actual smoky steam wafting from it. Tacobee's has a cute black and white, tile design. Maybe I'll sit in for lunch before my next nail salon trip. That thang was so stuffed i'm surprised they were able to roll it to perfection. The rice and meat ratio is outstanding. Chipotle could never! That's not even exaggeration. That burrito was SO BIG, I cradled it like a newborn baby. The bowls and burrito were a delightful explosion of flavors, with the aroma matching my expectations. To my surprise, it was milder than I anticipated, with the Cilantro sauce, Spicy Queso, and mango habanero working in perfect harmony. The unique flavors complemented each other, allowing each component to shine without overwhelming the meat. My only minor complaint is that there is no white meat, I've noticed it's all dark meat including the shredded chicken. The packaging was great, everything was together. They did include utensils, but no side sauces. I ordered 3 Soft Tortillas Tacos, with Sweet and Spicy Shrimp, spicy queso, red chopped onion, Mexican cheese mix, lettuce, cilantro sauce, and sweet mango verde sauce. The server let me try the shrimp even though I was ordering something else. Generous portions especially with the protein. Rice bowls, tacos , burritos , quesadillas and salads . You choose up to 8 toppings along with your rice , beans and protein, then choice of 2 sauces. Large selection of Jarrito flavors for drinks. I saw a couple pre portioned desserts ,honestly didn't pay much attention, I think one may have been flan . High point for me was the taste of the food - very well seasoned and fresh. Wow! This neighborhood desperately needed a versatile restaurant like this. I was walking on Nostrand Ave yesterday and noticed tacobees. After checking the place out I decided to try the food and was not disappointed. The format here is similar to chipotle but that's where the comparison stops because the food is considerably better. FLAVOR is the difference maker here. I tried the steak, grilled chicken and honey chipotle chicken tacos. Each meat had a distinct flavor profile an not bland tasting like other similar places. The veggies and guac were FRESH. While I was there I saw them constantly swapping out toppings to maintain the freshness. I loved the fact that their habanero sauce was actually HOT. My tacos were 5/5. What I appreciate most about tacobees is the value. Nowadays it seems like if you don't spend $15 in a restaurant your going to still be hungry after you eat. Tacobees is giving you 3 tacos filled with meat for around $11. By the time I finished the second taco I was already full. I got my monies worth and more which means everything in this economy. I'll definitely be back to tacobees, especially since I realized they have loaded fries that I have to try. Great spot for a quick bite just around the corner from me! Was craving a good burrito but as it's the fourth of july a lot of places were closed, but they were still open around 4:30. The burrito was massive which I loved as most of the burritos I've had in nyc have been really small and as someone originally from california I'm used to pretty big burritos for a cheap price. I got a steak burrito with guacamole and it came out to $13 total which I'm not mad about at all. There were like 5-7 people working there when I stopped by, some making/refilling food, some taking orders and someone else cashiering. My burrito was made pretty quick so I was able to get in and out in about 5 minutes. The burrito was full of flavor and more than enough food to fill me up. So I'm VERY happy to give this a 5 stars, but this is for sure not a 6 star; as in, I don't think it's worth the trek to Crown Heights, but it is quite good and better than Chipotle. It's the same price (if not cheaper, ~$11 for my Tofu burrito) with better sauces (they've got some cremas and chipotle mayo sauce, which is electric) and a great vegetarian protein I'd say.
