After such a great dinner last time we went back. What happened? We were so excited for the same meal as last time? No diet anything to drink, quesabirrias brought out to us literally burned. The green sauce that was so great last time? Not even close. Worst part remember the birria broth that was so fabulous not even same type. So 1 either a different cook. 2. Different recipes but worst no consistency. Actually we were shocked that the waitress even brought the quessbirria out burned. I guess we're back to finding a great Mexican food restaurant in Chattanooga. Have a 3 instead of a 2 as I'll just say I guess it's hit or miss. read more

Moved here from Texas about a year ago and I've been looking for some good Mexican food. Taco town is a good choice. Their Pastor tacos are very good. I also ask them make me plain cheese enchiladas with the red sauce ( cheese enchiladas are a Texas thing), which are good. Love their jalapeño salsa ( reminds me of the taco trucks in Texas ) Their house salsa is pretty good too. Much better than other places I've tried around Chattanooga. It actually has cilantro and onion in it and not just tomato .Reminds me a little of Texas. read more

Got the birria pizza delivered one night during a full moon, on a whim. Decided to eat it on my deck and watch the moon with my kiddo. Long story short, we met a cat that night who turned out to be our wacky neighbor's who'd left him behind when he moved Xlipsey (Clipsey) Hussle is what we named him. Anyways, we shared the birria with the cat and he became our lil homie after that! IN CLOSING: The birria CLEARLY was the star of the show! The consommé was *chef's kiss*. 10/10!! read more

The service was very friendly and efficient. The quesadilla has a good amount of veggies (fajita version) but the chicken inside was dry and bland. Overall not a bad place but not one I would return to. read more

My youngest kid's friend actually recommended Taco Town and it was a hit! Two of the three tacos were delicious (carnitas taco was very dry but the chicken was tender - which is normally the opposite in my experience). Empanadas were yummy and the fajitas were good as well. A very interesting menu and will return. read more

My dad and I were searching for some yummy Mexican food that would satisfy our hometown Mexican cravings(Los Angeles, CA food). This place was a gem. Their food had great flavor. We've been looking for a local taqueria that has simple tacos with flavorful meat and Taco Town meets the need. We tried the Al Pastor, Barbacoa, Tinga, flank steak and Birra. The tacos are served with simple onion and cilantro and lime on the side. The meat was juicy and the flavors stood out. The staff was attentive and prompt. Love this place, the best Mexican restaurant in town. Food is filled with authentic flavors and the selection is large. They have meals such as Mole which many places don't do. I ordered delivery through a 3rd party, I liked the different options of tacos, I got the beef cheek, carne asada and chicken. I also got chips and salsa. Their salsa verde was excellent, their chicken and beef cheek tacos were also excellent, so good! The carne asada on the other hand left me wanting more moisture and way less salt. read more

Amazing!!!! This is all that I could say! Every bit of food we put in our mouths was delicious and authentic. This is my new favorite stop for Mexican Food. I got chips and salsa( best salsa at a restaurant) and elotes( always great). I also got a plate that I forgot the name. It was a plate that was on fry bread( amazing and first time I've seen it at a restaurant not out west) with eggs, meat, and grilled veggies including cactus. Had 3 taco combo special. Salsa that came with the chips was very good. Unfortunately they were the high point of the meal. I had 1 taco that purported to be Carne Asada, and 2 that were carnitas, plus rice and beans. The rice and beans were fairly tasty, but cold. The Carne Asada was some kind of beef mystery meat. It tasted like possibly course ground organ meat. It was awful. I imagined it might taste like road kill. The carnitas tacos were better, barely. The meat was completely dry and tasteless. They charge 10 cents extra for lettuce and tomato. It didn't help. read more

Taco Town has moved next door to Formosa restaurant on Hwy 153. They serve the best street tacos I've ever had! I recommend the El Pastor! They hav a delicious habanero sauce available in case you prefer a spicy flavor! The food is great and the prices are very reasonable! read more

What to say about this business? It's okay. The salsa is pretty decent, the tacos were fine, the prices were fair. No complaints, however there are several better Mexican joints in the near vicinity. There is nothing wrong with Taco Town, but it didn't knock my socks off. They have a really good selection of different tacos (which you would expect from the name). What a fantastic surprise we stumbled upon on our way to ATL. #1 - Brenda is an amazing waitress and take her recommendations on food or let her surprise you with a dish. #2 - the food was very tasty and reasonably priced. This place is called Taco Town for a reason. The tacos rock! I had four tacos; barbacoa, asada, al pastor and shrimp. These are like traditional street tacos, so not really big. Four were perfect. The tortillas tasted fresh made. Lots of cilantro and onions on each, which I love. My favorites were the al pastor and the shrimp. The shrimp tacos are not on the regular menu but on their specials board, but they should make them part of their regular menu. Nice grill on them and great seasoning. I also had a pineapple Jarritos and it was so good and refreshing on a very hot and muggy day. There are a few concerns/cons I had. First, it was HOT in there. They are a small business, I get it, and they really tried to cool it down with a portable A/C unit and it did start to cool down after we had been there awhile, but this is Chattanooga in the Summer. I can't believe any place doesn't have central air. The space is small and the kitchen is open so the heat from that I'm sure contributed to the environment. It wasn't horribly unpleasant, and it did start to cool down after awhile but it was pretty warm. Like I said at the beginning, it's called Taco Town, and they do tacos exceptionally well. A couple of the people that were dining with me got other dishes, burritos, tortas, etc. They seemed to enjoy them but weren't wowed by them. I ordered a burrito to go-to have for lunch the next day. I'll just say it wasn't the best burrito I've had. They have lots of green peppers in it which just left a weird aftertaste for me. I'm a pretty simple burrito person, just fill it with meat, cheese and beans and that's perfect. This one just didn't quite do it for me. I will say the salsa was super good. Nice and chunky and seemed like the tomatoes were roasted. Perfect amount of spice. I could just order a big bowl of chips and salsa and be seriously happy. I'm definitely going back to get some salsa to-go. The owner/cook, Arturo, was super nice and one of his daughters was our server and she was fabulous. Very friendly and family oriented. They do not serve beer/liquor, like most taquerias in town. But they do have agua frescas and Jarritos. In my opinion, if you do something really great, and other stuff just ok, you should stick with the really great part. The tacos at Taco Town are really really good. read more

This is a tiny (8 tables) Mexican place in a strip mall on Hixson Pike in Hixson, TN. Don't make the mistake of passing it up, as the food is seriously good. It isn't Tex-Mex, either. It's Mexican, mostly Oaxacan if I were to guess. The food is great, with a broader selection of meats than most Mexican restaurants I'm familiar with, and they are perfectly willing to double up on meats for an additional charge, so something like a chicken, chorizo, and cheese quesadilla with onions and jalapeos is perfectly achievable. I had two tacos with lengua, and two with chorizo. The spicy red sauce is habanero based, and is nicely spicy. The spicy green sauce is jalapeno-based, and is slightly less spicy, but with more flavors. read more

Salsa was incredibly fresh! Freshly squeezed tomato in the back! Guacamole reminded me of my aunts guacamole, which she learned how to prepare from her Nicaraguan friend! Burrito Supremo with steak & chicken was delicious! Tacos (pork, chicken, and steak) tasted fresh and delicious! Everything here is 100% authentic and home made! Just took the family for the first time. We had a great experience. Simple, authentic, and delicious. We tried a variety of tacos. The chicken was tender, the steak had no gristle, the shrimp was cooked well. I even tried some not so common tacos. I got a cactus taco (napoles) with chorizo. The cactus tastes similar to a cooked pepper, no thorns . The chorizo has good flavor and isn't greasy. There are a variety of other menu options also. This isn't a fancy place, but you can tell it's not your usual chain restaurant food. They have regular salsa and a spicy option in red and green. I got the spicy and it has a nice kick with really good flavor. If you aren't used to spicy food, stick with the regular salsa. The place is small and cozy. No loud music. To me this place is alright. The service is really friendly but the food is just ok. Except the salsa, the salsa that comes with the chips is really good and fresh. It is mild but has alot of flavor. We tried several of their tacos (steak, chicken, shrimp, belly, ground beef). The biggest thing is that the meat didn't really seem to have all that much flavor. So that was disappointing. Also a word of caution on their "mild" sauces that they bring out with the meal. I would label them at least a medium. There was some definite kick.. so just sample them first. read more
