This restaurant is top notch. The service was amazing and the food is so good. Atmosphere is really good.

First time I have been to this Ta Co establishment. They were previously at the Mall but have moved to their own place at 8th and Topeka. The place was clean, comfortable seating that was noticeable. The offerings were numerous ways of fixing tacos, and a few other items. The food was good, but they are competing with several authentic Mexican places. I hope the fact that they are downtown helps their business. Having been in Topeka most of my life I have been spoiled by the different authentic places . We sat at the bar and had excellent service. The margs were delicious and the food was soooo yummy. The restaurant is clean and has a somewhat industrial or new aged feel. I've brought my child here before too and it is kid friendly. read more

Anything that has the crema sauce is amazing. Service was good, although they did seem a bit short staffed. The location and ambiance was fantastic! Their namesake left a bit to be desired. The tacos themselves were mediocre, and I found myself wanting to focus on the appetizers instead of my meal. read more

The service was great - so quick & accurate! The place is clean, crisp & light. A little echo-y but we expect that in downtown buildings. Food was really good, pork belly taco was the favorite, chipotle chicken taco was really tasty too. The barbacoa taco was good but very spicy - almost too much without crème fresh or quac. The Mahi Mahi taco is good but wish it was crispier. The margarita was amazing! Soooo good! I had two! The other drinks were also good, but margarita was tops! At first glance I thought it only sat 20 people on the ground floor, but it's multiple stories so if ground floor is full you have to go upstairs to different levels. We went on thirsty Thursday for $4 margaritas which were eh. The taijin was good but the drinks tasted weak. The crack dip was really good though. But the entrees took about half an hour or more for us to receive it after ordering. Then one of the taco I ordered with hard shell came out on soft shell so I waited a couple more minutes for that one. The Mahi Mahi tacos had really good batter but none of the food wowed me. Not the same vibe as when it was located in Lawrence. Staff is friendly though and the food was decent. I had the pork belly tacos. The flavor was good but the meat was a bit overcooked and some parts were burned. Great chips and queso. My husband thought his barbacoa tacos were yummy. read more

The food was absolutely amazing and great. Street corn dip was a fantastic appetizer, tacos were great and delicious, and sopapillas were simply amazing tasting. The Service was great our waitress was extremely nice and the food was promptly made and yo our table. The Restaurant had a great downtown vibe and great atmosphere about it. I strongly recommend this place. I had seen the restaurant show up on commercials and figured I'd try it out today and was well worth it. read more

I was on a break from a meeting in downtown Topeka - I was on a tight crunch for a lunch break, and I let the bartender know. She immediately radioed the kitchen and my order came out quickly. I ordered the Esquites Salad. Although I didn't seem to come across any chicken that I saw, the flavor was very good and I didn't mind. I appreciated the kindness and efficiency of the staff so much, that if there was an error in the chicken, I was happy to shrug my shoulders. Great spot downtown with good food and drinks. Loved the 90s music playlist and the ambiance. Cool decor and artwork. Our two person table was too small for our plates, app, and drinks but our waitress was attentive and friendly. Tried the shrimp, pork belly, and double decker. Liked the shrimp best. The others were still solid. Would like to try others and I hope they cycle other options through too. Had the crack dip as an app and it was good too. Solid choice for downtown. One star off for first floor staff and third floor not knowing what they had for seating and prices being a bit steep. read more

Nice place with very friendly service, pork belly taco was really good, the beast made as a burrito with carnitas was ok. Says has sour cream guacamole and pico. No sour cream, barely any guacamole and asked for a little more pico. Brought 2 small ones out only needed the one but saw later $1 each. Would have been nice to get told that and asked how many. I think overall lacked seasoning in burrito and the crack dip. read more

We tried this place out for lunch today. The food was phenomenal. 5 stars for everything we ordered (chips & guacamole, double decker taco, shrimp taco, Mahi Mahi taco, and Chipotle chicken taco). The chips were magnificent and reminded us of the way grandma used to fry the Tortillas fresh. The guacamole may be my favorite in T-town. It was really fresh with a lot of red onion, which I love. The service was impeccable. They were well-staffed and we felt taken care if without being suffocated. Those are the true highlights! The down sides? We were seated on the third floor. The sky lights male the rather small area feel bright and cheerful, however, the space is cramped. The waiters had to juggle trys over our heads to get to the adjacent tables leaving me wondering if I would make it through my meal with taco stuffing on my head or shirt. The space is also very loud. The concrete floors, the chair legs scraping across them, the entire lack of soft spaces to muffle sounds made it quite difficult for us to even hear each other speak throughout our meal. We'll be back for the food, for sure....but not a place we'll likely frequent with friends where we want to have good dinner convo. read more

Tacos are different from what you expect. I had two chicken chipotle tacos and we started with the crack dip. Both were good with just the right amount of spiciness. Hubby had the pork belly taco and it said it was great. We came for a weekday lunch - should have more people here since it is downtown but now too many people work from home. read more

Stopped by on a whim on a hot weekend during mid-afternoon. Restaurant was comfortable clean and uncrowded. Staff were friendly and attentive and plentiful. Food was creative and solid overall, except for slightly lukewarm/dry seemingly-leftover cilantro rice. Street corn and sweet potato black bean tacos creative and delicious. A welcome addition to downtown Topeka's modest restaurant scene. read more

Good service, great tacos. A lot of outside of the normal options. We tried 6 different tacos, and all were good. My favorite was probably the sweet potato and black bean, or the chipotle chicken (I think is what it was called). My wife really liked her barbacoa quesadilla as well. We will be back. read more

My husband ordered their mini chimichangas and taco salad, the look of the food was great. We ordered our food for pick up and when I went inside the place was well lit and the decorations were very beautiful. The place has 3 floors and the pick up spot was in the bar on the first floor which was small, but perfect if you just want a quick drink and quietness. The service was quick when picking my food. We got our food delivered by Door Dash and I had the Chimichangas and they were crispy and delicious, and amazingly still temperature hot. The chicken was flavorful and juicy, and the other filling was good as well. Second time we have had it delivered and the Door Dash guy said the staff were friendly and had a great experience with them, they said they think they are going to go again just for themselves so I would say they have a class act crew there. read more

Good food, a little on the too spicy side for me. Maybe chef can reduce spice if customer requests, but you have to know in advance. Food and beverages are reasonably priced. Service is good. The $4 mango margarita was tasty. Very noisy. The industrial style decor does nothing to absorb sound. Hard surfaces everywhere. Had a great Saturday night at Ta Co! Loved the casual vibe. Food was great, flavors were bold and complex, margaritas were delicious and strong! We munched on the dip trio with queso, guac, and mild salsa, plus an extra order of street corn. They were all sooo good, and the chips were definitely house-made and fresh. Got a second round of margs with chipotle chicken tacos and sweet potato tacos. We expected a taco place to have good tacos, but these exceeded expectations! We tabbed out at our table and went to the rooftop bar for a night cap. Blueberry mule and plenty of beers on tap. Downtown Topeka allows to-go alcohol so we walked it all off and enjoyed the scene. Hosts were not friendly/welcoming. Our server was very friendly. It was very loud, couldn't even hear the conversation at my table. I liked the fries. That's about it. Did not enjoy the cocktails, and not a whole lot of options either. It was also very expensive. read more
