We were trying to decide on some dinner and saw the specials on the tent board on the sidewalk outside of the TJ. We checked the reviews on Yelp and they were stellar. We grabbed an indoor table in this very small place The servers were super friendly, personable and attentive. We first got some drinks, on special, $5 margaritas and $3 beers. It was taco Tuesday so I got three: a ground beef, a carnitas, and a lobster taco (more like a lobster cake) - all were very good and for a total of $8 - nice! We also ordered the seafood ceviche appetizer which was huge and served in half of a pineapple. It was marinated fish and shrimp with pineapple. Excellent. Perfect fit for the neighborhood! Opened about 5 months ago with another location from Hollywood Beach. I'm not much of a taco person but I guess it was just having to find THE SPOT to go to. With that being said, let the raving review begin! It is right along the beach, so make a nice night out of it and have a nice meal and go for a stroll afterwards. The BBQ chicken taco may have been the best taco I have ever had and I cannot wait to try more of their menu! The Ceviche was so beautifully done, the taste was perfect in ever bite WOW WOW WOW The Pina Colada Filled Pineapple was the 3rd cherry ontop. This relatively new casual place (open just 4+ months) near the beach in Pompano surprised us by being as good as it was. There were a lot of options to choose for our lunch and it was just a matter of deciding which to order. We sat inside, but they have outside sidewalk tables. We were able to find on street (metered) parking right in front. If you're more interested in beverages, they have a number of refreshing alcoholic (and non) coladas, mojitos, and the like in a variety of tropical flavors. My husband got their burrito bowl with ground beef. On a layer of yellow rice and black beans, there was cabbage, pico de gallo, and cheese. The seasoned ground beef was a very generous portion. It came with some cilantro aioli on the side. I chose their shrimp fajitas. It was served in its own cast iron pan. Lots of sautéed onions and sweet bell peppers and a generous amount of shrimp, too. It came with tortillas, sour cream, and pico de Gallo. You can get cheese, too. My only quibble was that the sauce for it was killer spicy (for me) -- so I was glad it was served separately. Of course, you can always ask for hot sauce to add to your own taste. Prices were reasonable; service was good; food was tasty. This is a good option if you're near the beach or just looking for a pleasant lunch experience. read more

The food is always amazing here. I always get the steak taco platter and I took out the street corn and I replace it with an extra side of beans and rice. As you can see in the picture they load up beans and rice which I love. The service is always amazing everybody who works there is super sweet. The food is always ready in about 5 to 10 minutes which is really good because you're able to park by the beach without paying and you're able to go get your food without having to wait. The ambience is really great especially because it's right on the beach right on the strip of other restaurants and worse. Great location, but food is really plain. $2.75 for a can of Coke is a bit of a turnoff for me. Inside dining is a combination of cheap tables and handmade afterthoughts of some kind of side bar /counter seating. Old ice bin shoved off to the side of the dining room with crap piled up on it. If the place was 20 years old, I might make an argument that is part of the place, but Taco Joint just opened a couple weeks ago and it already looks like they do t give a damn already. Waitress was untrained and struggling to even have a clue what to do. Had to ask for our check three times. Food was plain. We tried pork taco platter and an chicken enchilada platter. Boring with no spice or seasoning.
