Still loving Taco Libre! Had shrimp tacos again and they tasted better than ever, fresh and perfectly grilled! Still in love with the light green salsa. Great beverage options. Love the new ordering at the kiosk. Staff is great as always. I need to try the desserts one of these days. read more

Super mediocre Rich White people Mexican food, and if you wanna talk about overpriced.. this is the place. The burrito is about half the size of chipotle or pancheros and it was drowned in cheese. I've lived in California, and traveled to 48 states and for a 4.5 rating I am really not sure how they got it other than they only have rich white people going here... I mean it is Edina... also WORST elote I've ever had literally microwaved and they call it "Mexican street corn" that should have been my first red flag to get out of there... read more

Taco Libre - $10 burrito that is maybe half the size of what you should be getting for that price. - Mexican Near Me - Minneapolis, Minnesota

The food was good, but trying to figure out the menu was a little off putting. It would have been nice to have an employee who was knowledgeable about the menu helping customers rather than having a kiosk to order from! read more

Are you looking for the real deal for your taco fix on Taco Tuesday? There's no need to look any further because you have come to the right place. The tacos are some of the best that I have eaten in the Twin Cities period. Everything is made to order and tastes high quality. I have not had anything this good since my days living in Chicago and eating at the taco places near Pilsen. The al pastor meat in my tacos had notes of sweetness from the pineapple with the grease dipping down my hands and arms (and totally worth it). Enjoy! read more

Ah-mazing. So good I forgot to take any pictures. Street taco selection with scrumptious corn tortillas. The salsa bar was so full of flavor. Didn't even need the guacamole with the chips. read more

Taco Libre is a place that can be easily misinterpreted if looking through a traditional American perspective. This is NOT 'American' Mexican food. And if that is what you are looking for than keep on going to a Don Pablo's or similar. But this restaurant is also not traditional Mexican either. It's 'nuevo Latino' or new Mexican. They've taken a riff off of traditional fare and made it their own. Do not go here if you don't like to try new or unfamiliar things, but DO go here if you are adventurous and like to try new things. It's going to be hit or miss. Some things you will LOVE and some you might say, 'Hmm, I don't think I'll order that again.' But that's ok! I'd recommend you come here a few times and make sure you try different things each time. And then you will find the things you really like. Understand it will likely take you a bit of time studying the menu to figure it out and what you want, but that's part of the adventure and charm. I found the portions good and ample. The food is authentic, authentic in a different way to prepare Mexican food. The presentation of it will be hit or miss but who cares: You're here for the food not the classiness of the joint or the fancy way they present it. So again, go for the food, not the presentation. And realize you may have to try a couple of different things to find the ones you love. Take a chance. It will be worth it!! read more

It doesn't get any better for my money when it comes to tacos. I love the pastor (marinated pork) American Tacos, and when I've skipped a meal and am super hungry the Machete 18 inch corn tortilla taco is the way to go. Pro-tip: You can get two meats on the machete, half & half. I also love their guacamole & chips. You can order online and it will be ready for pickup when you arrive. read more

I. AM. OBSESSED. I eat here at least twice a week. The carnitas is moist and tender... the plantains are perfectly sweet and the Mexican street corn is out of this world. They have gotten my order wrong a few times, but the food is so good, the service is top notch and they can be seriously quick which is very helpful when it's late at night and I just need food and bed... not at the same time though... read more

When my friend told me about Taco Libre for the first time, I instantly thought it was something like Taco John's or Taco Bell. Clearly neither can be compared to Taco Libre. I'd say if you want street tacos, check out Taco Libre but if you wanna eat straight up 'American' tacos then head to the Tbell and skip reading this review altogether. Please....order the street tacos, don't even bother getting the American style tacos. I mean come on, you can just make that at home yourself. The street tacos are the real winner here. I've only been twice and my food has been hit or miss, but it's tasty.....and it's inexpensive. And I'm thankful there isn't one located near my house otherwise I would go all the time. My favorite is the tripa tacos - I like the how crispy and fatty it is sometimes it can be a little chewy. Next favorite is the steak tacos of course. Iconic, a classic, and a safe choice. You can never go wrong with steak tacos. I've also gotten the horchata, and it's alright. A little too sweet for my liking, but now I know! read more

The street tacos were amazing, but we ordered online and they sent us home with someone else's order - no tacos. We went back and they were very apologetic and quickly corrected the order - or so we thought. When we got home the second time we only had 5 of the 6 tacos we ordered. We didn't go back again. You should be ok if you check your order before leaving the store. read more

Taco Libre might just be my favorite taco spot in the Cities. There are many others that I enjoy greatly, but something about Taco Libre always satisfies my cravings to the max. The tacos here are just a little bit juicier, more presentable, and affordable. The interior is bright and happy, always clean, and filled with helpful employees who are patient when I take 20 minutes to decide on my order. My favorite order here must be the Pastor tacos which come with a beautiful and juicy chunk of pineapple. The sweetness of the pineapple and the saltiness of the pork together are nothing short of magical. Try it! The meat is flavored to perfection; no need for any fancy add ons. But if add ons are what your heart desires, there is an awesome self-serve salsa bar which is at least 6 different kinds of salsa to top your food with including pickled onions which I always pile on top of everything. Grab your favorite or try them all. They are complimentary and unlimited with your meal. There's plenty of other tasty options on their simple, straightforward menu. Definitely experience The Machete aka their famous 1 foot long taco! Devour it on your own if you're hungry or share with friends. You can half n half the meats you put in it too! We did half pork and half shredded chicken. It's a little messy to eat but definitely makes for an awesome photo op. I also totally love their bowls which, again, you choose whatever protein you'd like, followed by cilantro white rice, beans, fajitas, pico de gallo, corn, queso & sour cream. My favorite bowl is the Azada aka steak; it's filling and crazy flavorful for being very simple in ingredients. Chipotle who? Since this is the newer location of the two (the other in St. Paul), it looks nice and clean and fresh every time we go. The decorations fit the theme well, including photos and giant paintings on the wall with fun slogans that will definitely be insta-worthy. For such a small space it has a nice amount of seating; even during busy times we've never had an issue grabbing a table or booth. It's a colorful and bright space, perfectly welcoming to enjoy a meal. Important thing is to remember that Taco Libre is somewhat of a fast food and Mexican restaurant all in one. I don't think it should be associated with any sort of "negative" outlook when it comes to "fast food" though. You order at the counter but your food will be brought to your table. Taco Libre specializes in Mexican "street" food aka simple yet amazingly seasoned ingredients that can be made quickly so you can enjoy them right away. If you're into a fancy Mexican table service boujie type of shebang, this isn't the place for you. But if you love crazy good meats, fresh veggies, and an excellent tasting food in general, you will love it. read more

We visited at Sunday lunchtime after finding ourselves in the "neighborhood." This place is typically jammed during the week because of it's proximity to low/mid-rise business buildings. On this day the crowd was steady (primarily families) and all appeared pleased with the food and setting (relatively limited seating). I also witnessed a significant takeout business. The menu, while not approaching calculus, still requires a bit of orientation. We started with chips and queso (fresh chips, a small dose of queso) which, based on portion size and brown bag presentation, was a little pricey @ $8.50.. The chips were tasty while the queso was just "OK," the restaurant's salsa bar provided a wide selection of flavor and heat. I went with 2 of the street taco- sized Birria which were fresh and tasty while my friend had the American Taco (chicken, cheese, etc.) which was also good. Total tab with a bottle soft drink (no fountain drinks here), $25.11. Nothing fancy here but you'll find a pleasant staff and fresh food. It's definitely a good option when you're thinking about getting out for fresh Mexican fare. Enjoy it. read more

Amazing!!! Best Mexican food I've ever had!quesiberra is amazing just get it! Hot sauces are incredible

We were in the mood for something a little different for lunch and stopped in here to give this place and their street tacos a try. On a Sunday around 1 the place was hopping with lots of families and just a busy vibe. It took a bit of time to sort out the menu, there are lots of great authentic Mexican choices and luckily no one waiting behind us so I could figure out what to have. The Tacos are small street tacos and priced by the each. You order at the counter then they bring you your food. I chose 1 tinga chicken and 1 barbacoa while my wife decided on two fish tacos. We also got some chips (deliciously fresh and salty) and guac. They've got a bit salsa bar with about 6 different options so you can jazz things up to your own tastes. The food arrived in just a few minutes and was absolutely delicious - clearly made from super fresh ingredients. Our lunch was only around $16 for the two of us. Definitely planning a return visit read more

I live the munch special. $10 for two tacos, rice and beans and a drink. Can't beat it! It is always packed.

Nasty! Not good at all. The steak tacos were all fatty and gross. This place is not good.

The tacos are great! Not going to lie I have eaten here at least once a week for the last 3 months!

After loving it here for years, we were very disappointed in our recent visit. They are serving packaged salsa instead of their delicious variety of homemade salsas. It was about the same quality as Taco Bell. My two favorite tacos, cactus and mushroom, are gone, too. As is the fountain machine. Not sure what happened but we won't be back. read more

Decor was so cool for a strip mall restaurant. Very Nuevo Latino Lucha Libre vibe. Plating was hit or miss - some of our items came out as if they were ready for takeout and others were beautifully plated. Food tasted awesome. Very fresh and authentic. Gave it a four stars because everything was greasy. Huarache - large enough to split w 1-3 people. The beans, meat, cheese, cream were really good but the masa in the huarache was dripping w grease. Suggest telling them not to put so much grease on their griddle when you order it. Guacamole was ok and lost its wow factor when it came in a little to go container vs a bowl Taco also had awesome fillings but the tortilla was dripping w grease and we couldn't pick it up and eat it as a taco. The bowl wasn't greasy and it was very tasty but it could use some lettuce and tomatoes and avocado to make it a less heavy dish. The chocolate pastel de tres was good but it wasn't as juicy as most of the pastel de tres leches that I've tried and that's the beauty of that style of cake, it's just oozing milk. Churros were good, but again lost their beautiful plating appeal when the caramel is in a to go container. The churros were perfectly coated in cinnamon and sugar but they were a little doughy in the middle and they were slightly greasy. Horchata was good. Overall, I'd come back, but I'd definitely ask them to use less grease when cooking my order. - sin tanta grasa for you English speakers. Another word of caution... they do use a lot of authentic ingredients like tongue (lengua), tripe (tripa), huitlacoche is a fungus that grows on corn. They do have normal ingredients like beef, pork and chicken. read more

Hidden gem in Minnesota.. if you haven't been to Taco Libre you need too! Machete is huge and enough to feed two people easily!

This place is my new obsession when I'm craving some awesome Mexican/Tex Mex. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very unique - lots of luchador themes and the modern industrial vibe with a mix of warm woods. Seating can be tight, especially for large groups going at a peak mealtime. It would be ideal if they had an outdoor patio in the summer! I ordered two Picadillo tacos, one in each taco style, and one Mexican Street Corn. The American taco has flour tortillas and a small difference in toppings. The other taco (Mexican street) has corn tortillas. I will say that both of my tacos were really good, but I much preferred the (Mexican street) style version far better. I will definitely be getting this style in the future. The Mexican Street Corn (also called Elote) is really what delighted me to the fullest. I had no idea what it was before ordering, but it sounded interesting. This blew my mind. While I can't compare it to other restaurants, this was a phenomenal introduction to this dish/item. I will definitely be ordering this the next time I go. Cheese and chili powder, plus mayo on a cob of corn. Don't let the mayo scare you - it's barely noticeable flavor. read more

Yum! Yum! Yum! Stop here and get some amazing tacos. While you are here, try the empanadas and ques as well.

Don't know what happened to this place. Use to be really good but apparently they have gone cheap. Cheap with the quality but not the price! We ordered a taco El Pastor and a taco Birtia. Plus a chicken torta. My tacos were awful!! The el pastor was unrecognizable. It looked and tasted like ground beef. Definitely was not sliced off a rotisserie of el pastor pork. It was bland and tasteless. My taco Birra was also very bland and tasteless. It was chopped into tiny pieces and looked like ground hamburger not beef Birra. Both meats in my tacos looked and tasted the same despite being what should have been two completely different meats. My wife ordered a chicken torta. Rather than having pieces of chicken it had ground chicken that was also tasteless. Everything we ordered was very disappointing. But it certainly wasn't inexpensive. $35 including tip! Sad to see what this restaurant has become. I use to think it was very good. It's terrible now! read more

I eat here a lot! Great street tacos, good chips, good guacamole, they sell jarritos! They have a good variety of all you can eat salsas bar. My favorite here is the fish taco, easily twice the size of there street tacos, $4.99 each though. If theses fish tacos were cheaper it would be all I order. I probably eat here twice a month. Thanks Taco Libre for creating a great quality street taco chain! read more

Incredible food and service. I walked in to order and the lady at the register was so kind and took her time with me, asking how my day was and being genuinely interested in what I said. On top of that the food was delicious. The guacamole was a bit on the hotter side (but I have white girl taste buds so it's probably not hot at all lol). Definitely recommend. read more

Just, wow. One of my favorite places to get tacos. The atmosphere is amazing and the staff is so sweet and fun! The salsa bar provides various delicious salsas from mild to ridiculously spicy. They all do a wonderful job complimenting the tacos. Definitely try the al pastor and if you are vegetarian try the rajas con queso (my absolute guilty pleasure). I would eat here every day if I could! read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about Taco Libre. It's casual Authentic Mexican food at its best. The torta Cubano was incredible. First off the bread itself was right on point for what you'd expect. Soft on the inside, crisp on the outside. The inside of the sandwich included ham and breaded steak. The ham was almost crispy and the steak was hammered thin, breaded and fried? It was out of this world. The flavors were savory, spicy, delectable! If we're being honest, I was full after eating only half of the torta (although I didn't let that stop me from trying the other entree we ordered). Portions are definitely generous. The Machete, is masa like you've never seen it. Rolled out as a thin flatbread and fried! Yes, fried! Then you can choose your meat, the pastor was unbelievable. The meat was decadent, both savory and almost sweet, super tender. A word about service, the employees were fantastic. They're friendly, quick, and run a tight operation. I watched as one employee offered to help a woman carry a few things to her table as she had her arms full with an infant. This place really is the full package! read more
