Very good food and service. Smaller space so it does get busy. I thought it was slightly over priced but the food tasted so good that it is worth it. A better version of chipotle with fresh ingredients and street tacos! read more

Probably the best tortas in Minneapolis. All their food is great their service is spectacular. They have the best salsa bar. I just wish there was more of them in the metro! read more

Great Mexican food! Go here, if you love Mexican food, you will be pleasantly satisfied.

Not sure what happened to this restaurant. It used to be really good. Apparently either management or ownership has changed and has gone to hell. They Switched the tortillas, the al pastor was carnitas, and the agua de horchata was the biggest Disappointment of all. It was super watered down, did not have enough rice, and not enough cinnamon. We will not be returning to this restaurant. However, I hear the Saint Paul location is much better. read more

Really nice place! We tried street tacos and Toastadas here with marinated chicken, shredded beef in Chipotle sauce and barbacoa. Everything was fresh and delicious. We also had Mango Fresca which was refreshing. The place was clean and service was quick. I would definitely love to visit again to try 18 inches taco! That one looked really amazing!! Ohh..and they have vegetarian options too which is pretty awesome! :) read more

Awesome. Get the Tomahawk and try the lengua with another meat. It is shareable unless you're a hungry manbeast. This with the queso and a Jaritos is a superb combo. Great place for kids and the staff was super cool. They would be packed if they had margaritas. I am sure this will be next which I would not complain about. read more

This is one of my favorite taco place. Very authentic street style tacos and the ones I like are with corn taco shells.

Yumm!! Love the machete! Always get an order of chips and guac to accompany their bomb salsa bar. Churros and plantains for dessert too! Usually get it to go. read more

Good food but not good staff. Waited for the restroom for 20+ minutes because a staff member was messing around in the bathroom. Not going just holding everyone up. read more

Love love love their bowls. My husband devours the machete every time. My kids were happy with the kids quesadilla too. The space is a little tight, but the other customers are always happy to move along when they see you waiting. Very nice staff too especially when I was missing my guacamole, no questions asked, they just gave me some. read more

This Mexican place is a real gem if you haven't been there yet - you really need to go. The street tacos are delicious and some of the best in town (up there with Pineda Taco). I have tried many of them and recommend both the beef and chicken tinga as well as the Pastor. They also have an excellent salsa bar with many flavors to choose from. They always have fresh fruit juices like lime, mango and fresh squeezed orang juice (the machine is right there on the counter). The horchata is very good too. They also have great desserts - the fried plantains and tres leche cake are delicious and haven't had the flan yet, but that looks really good too. read more

Seriously amazing food. The chicken empanadas were on point. My kid's had cheese quesadillas and even those were the best they've ever had!

Huitlacoche street taco was quite good. Tripas street taco lacked usual meat crunch. Service fast. Priced well. Salsa bar is great. Place was full so they're doing something right. I'll try it again soon. read more

This was quite an exciting experience. I got the machete which was this extra long taco with so much flavor. The salsa bar was excellent with various types of spice levels. I also recommend the flan. read more

Love this place. Every time I visit the area, I stay at the Hilton which isn't too far from this location. This place always has produced good food and a great price. I like the lax environment. read more

I have been to this restaurant 4 times and the first two times it was fantastic and tasted like California street tacos. (I grew up in California and my husband is from Puerto vallerta) The 3rd time the street Tacos were dripping in oil and then today I got a takeout order with tacos which were really good but Tres leeches cake I had to throw away because the milk was bad and sour and curdling. I tried to call them and they didn't answer the phone. Nothing like serving rotten food! Shame on them. read more

Just had a great experience at Taco Libre. We had the carnitas (American style), barbacoa, beef tinga rey and al pastor. Everything came out quickly and hot. Love the salsa bar and that they actually had hot salsas and not Minnesota hot. Our son ordered the churros which he loved. If they have the cucumber lime aqua fresca get that too. Can't wait to go back! read more

I've ordered three deliveries from this place. Two out of the three we got NO green salsa for tamales. Three of three we got NO hot sauces, which were ordered on the DD app. Two of three times the queso was either not there or spilled all over the entire bag of food!! And I got a piece of the tres leches once that was so dry! It's supposed to be moist, like wet. The date on it was the day before.. I'm guessing that was when they were supposed to toss it!! After the third time I was over it. It gets expensive to pay for the items, delivery fee, tax, tip the driver. Yes, some of these issues might have been the delivery drivers' fault, but the orders are already ready to go when the drivers come to pick them up. So as far as not getting all the items we ordered (sauces!!!) that is 100% fault of the restaurant and it's workers. As I said, we'd had enough of all of our orders being messed up. We complained on the app, but I also wanted to call to personally let the employees/manager know how we'd been missing sauces on all of our orders every time. I talked to an employee first who asked me about four times what was missing. Then she put me on hold for a few minutes. Then the manager answers out of no where, only he didn't answer as the manager. He tells me this later. I told him about the missing sauce - didn't even get to mention the queso spilled all over the order because he interrupts me - and tells me he remembers the exact order because he was working on the line. He said we put all of the sauce in the bags. I said well we didn't get it. He keeps repeating how he remembers the exact order and he put sauce in there. I said so are you saying the driver stole the sauce?? He said no, we put the sauce in the bag. I'm the manager I was working the line, I remember. NO apology, no accepting of any fault whatsoever, no offer to resolve the issue at all! He says to complain on the app, it's their problem. So I said okay well we're not ordering from you anymore then! I caught him say "that's fine" as I hung up. Wow! The worst customer service I've ever experienced. Messed up orders? Sure, it happens, people are human. All we want is an apology and make it right. But to deny something that is fact? What a stubborn, rude POS. Go here if you like being treated that way! The food is not THAT good anyway. TL;DR "Manager" is a disgustingly rude person who messes up and accepts no fault when orders are consistently wrong. read more

Taco libre makes the best tacos I have had anywhere in the Twin cities. Fresh and affordable with friendly service. The machete is a gut buster and is worth every bite. I have only tried the Roberrs St. location and look forward to having one closer to home in Edina. read more

Very kid friendly with kid meal options. Tasty and flavorful! Don't need to drive to south Minneapolis anymore for great Mexican food!

I've been here once, the food was good. I expected more based on the review that I heard and read. I will go back and try it again. I hope that it lives up to my expectations. The ordering process is very much like the "soup nazi" from Seinfeld. read more

Excellent cheap, quick "street taco" joint, perfect lunch spot. But go a little before or after peak lunch hour, or the place is PACKED.

This place is doing it right! Authentic Mexican flavors and techniques to prepare delicious food. I had a medley of tacos: longaniza, carnitas, and azada. The tortillas were fresh, the meat cooked to perfection, and the flavors on point! Also had an order of Mexican street corn that was prepared well and in the traditional style. Such a great find, I'll be back!! read more

This place is great. Everything looks and tastes fresh. Lots of different salsas to choose from. I'm a frequent customer.

Solid. Tacos are fresh and delicious. Establishment is clean and the staff was friendly. My al pastor taco came with a hunk of pineapple on it and grilled pearl onions on the side. Nice touch. Salsa bar has lots of choices and is wonderful. read more

Just awesome. All the food was reasonably priced and delicious. I'd eat here every day. Service was excellent. If Trump builds the wall, these guys are good hombres and should stay. Try this place. read more

This is a new place in suburban Edina, in an office park like area. We visited during a huge blizzard and were surprised to see quite a few people there. The concept is food truck like food, but in an actual restaurant. Everything was super flavorful and hot, but a little pricey. The plantains were especially delicious, I'd go back just to have them again! The only downside is the temperature of the restaurant. They only have a single entry door, so every time it opened, the entire restaurant would get a blast if arctic air! read more

Taco Libre - Tacos, horchata, plantains, and more! - Mexican Near Me - Minneapolis, Minnesota

I have only one thing to say in this review ..... the food at Taco Libre is super fresh and delicious!

I like to frequent taco libre as I am a taco lover...I ordered the street tacos which are my go to. The tacos were great as always. I also like to order the guacamole and chips. The guac was sub par. There were big chunks of avocado that were not mashed proper and one of the chunks was hard and un edible. The container i was given was not mixed proper. Usually it is really good five stars all the way. I forgive them and will be back. read more

Yummy love their corn and street tacos lots of meat and great customer service very friendly

Love this place so much! Honestly my go-to whenever i'm in the mood for Mexican food (which is basically all the time). The service, food, and atmosphere, is perfect. I am always bringing friends here because it's THAT good. The food seems to be very authentic and it's super tasty. The flavor is AMAZING! I could go on and on about this place, because it's every thing I could want and more. Don't question going here, just do it. read more

Ehh ok , I must say we went as they first opened.. so I must re try as many friends say it is awesome

Food truck style Mexican but with a wider menu. Counter service. Very much like a family owned Mexican place but done by people who clearly have experience operating a restaurant kitchen. The quality, speed, and consistency have been good. You can also see it in the branding and signage. It feels like a larger franchised restaurant but there are only three at this point. The carnitas tacos were delicious and a little larger than standard food truck. Typical cilantro, onion, corn tortilla... Three is more than enough if you're hungry. The Cubano Torta was also delicious and a large portion. Enough for two in many cases. Been back four times with consistent results. It's the go-to for street tacos in this area. read more

Nice and new fast casual Mexican option in a area that's lacks this option. Arrived on a Friday evening, the place was packed, but service was fast. We loved the varieties of tacos and the churro was great! We will be back for sure. read more

I've eaten here a handful of times. The first post is from today the other ones I posted on my foodie account on Instagram. Literally an amazzzzzzing spot. I've always, always received friendly service and the taco and everything I've had here has always been fantastic. The only reason I'm not giving them a 5 is because they were out of my favorite the lingua a few times and the first time I got the lingua Machete it was a bit tough. Other than that today when I ate the lingua tacos it was fantastic. Very cool eclectic Devore. Great Mexican music and great food. I would for now say 4 and a half stars in my books. P. S I always go to the Bloomington location as it's only an 8 minute drive for me. Take advantage of the amazing salsa bar too. My favorite is the bright orange and the lime green. Today I had a smoked chipotle I drizzled on my lingua. It was outstanding. Everything is fantastic. Thank you to the owner. Keep up the amazing work. read more

First time caller, long time listener. Great taco joint. I ate the machete, half carne asada and half pastor(pork). Great all the way around. Great service and atmosphere. read more

Whoa! So went in kinda expecting like a Q'doba or something along those lines ... WRONG! This place was legit, real-deal Holyfield tacos. Seriously some of the best I've ever had. I consider myself a pizza and taco connoisseur ... yeah, yeah, everyone does. But listen, I've lived in Arizona, Los Angeles and Aurora, IL ... home to some serious Mexican food and this place was right up there. I had 3 different tacos ... my go to, carnitas, a barbacoa and a tinga de res. First, when I say carnitas are my "go to" what I mean is ... I LOVE CARNITAS tacos. But ... to my surprise. The barbacoa tacos were seriously one of the tastiest dishes I've ever had ... and I'm not talking just in the taco realm, I'm talking all encompassing. These were off the charts good. I really liked all 3 tacos but the barbacoa was so good I almost threw the other two away so I could go get some more of the barbacoa. This place has way more than just tacos. I cannot wait to go back to try the machete. It just sounds amazing! Highly, highly recommend this place. And don't be like me and turn away the first two times you try to go there because of the line... there is a reason there's a line and it is worth it!!! read more

Foods Good but they always miss something like my tostada shell, my Chile, they kept tomatoes when I said no tomatoes. But overall I'm sat-is-fied *chefs kiss* I also love that they serve all the good meats (lengua, tripe, cabeza) and they said they serve menudo on wkends. I've yet to try theirs. Gave a lengua taco to my co worker and he said that was the best taco he's had. Yum. Food gits a 5 star I only put three stars because of the lil misses. read more

Excellent New Mexican restaurant. Get the machete! Lots of salsa options at the salsa bar.
