Really good Mexican in the burbs. There were a few of us and we ordered American taco w barbacoa and carnitas, Lengua, cabeza and fried tripe tacos, huarache, bowl, churro, tres leches and horchata. The meats were super tender, maybe slightly more flavoring? All the rest were great. The only item I would not get again is the Mexican corn.... meh read more

Have been to Taco Libre a couple of times now and it is my new jam! The staff is super helpful and the food is tasty!!! I love that you can order either traditional street tacos or "American" style tacos. They were super accommodating when I wanted to try the "truffle", and on my second visit, I tried the pumpkin flower taco and it was amazing. I love all the different salsas, especially the limey-pale-green tomatillo (?) salsa. Careful, the jalepeno tomatillo is REALLY HOT! The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that I have tried to get the poblano tamale twice now and they basically don't have it - it's not that they're out of it, it seems they don't have a supplier maybe? Also, I wish they had the pozole during the week!!! It is only served on weekends, but hey, good marketing strategy to get people there on the weekends? Personally, I won't make the hike, I'll just go to Andale if I want pozole on a weekend. The Huagaro looks REAlly good, I plan to try it next time! read more

Well, you can order a Taco Bell taco supreme with chicken and pay $3.75 roughly. And then order a taco Libre taco for about $.50 more. The taco a Taco Libre gives you about 35% more in volume and weight. There's no comparison, this product is excellent, you get a lot more for $.50, Taco Libre tomatoes are fresher etc. Try it, You'll Love. read more

My cousin and I were having trouble on deciding what we wanted to order but thankfully, one of the nice workers took the time to help us and explained the different items on the menu. Therefore I rate their customer service a 5 out 5. As for the food, I had steak tacos and a chicken tamale. The tamale was a little dry and lacked flavor but the steak tacos were the best and they tasted so authentic!! Their horchata drink is one of my faves too. I love this place and plan on coming back. read more

After living in LA I got spoiled with authentic Mexican, and I was thrilled to find this place. The aroma drew me in the door and I was pleasantly surprised with fresh decor. Prices are reasonable, everything is crisp and fresh and the tacos are delish! Salsa bar offers the best variety of anywhere I've ever been. Three or four salsa verdes, some reds. Only thing I would want to see is more cilantro and limes. Burrito bowl was a little light but left room for tacos. Parking is in a shared lot. They will see more of me here! read more

Taco Libre street tacos are terrific. The ingredients are fresh and the tacos are super tasty. They are made to order and stuffed full. The service staff is friendly. Taco Libre is taking COVID precautions - social distancing and masks. read more

Cool place, nice area to eat in, an open sauce bar with a good variety of sauces. It's a fast food Mexican place, but pretty authentic Mexican food.! Not a taco bell or anything like that. From what I remember of their menu they had a variety of bowls you could choose from as well as tamales, burritos, and tacos. The service was quick and I got the pastor rice bowl. The pastor was flavored, but not really well, and the green sauce I went and got was spicy, but unfortunately not too flavorful either. It's definitely better than below average, because I could see the preparation of the ingredients in the presentation of the meat and veggies. Even the sauces looked vibrant and house-made. Everything was fresh, but just not extremely flavorful :( I'd try it again if I was looking for quick The friends I came with got the Pastor alambre and Tamales and their food looked incredible. read more

When moving to MN from Chicagoland I was disappointed about the Mexican food in MN. It seemed that everywhere I went gave you a flour tortilla, and a salad on your taco with this so called spicy salsa. I thought that I would not have an authentic Mexican experience ever in MN. I was wrong! Taco Libre is street tacos at its finest. No thrills on a street taco except, onions, cilento, and a lime one a hot corn tortilla. They have 6 different salsas which the lighter green is the hottest. The steak is tasty and fresh! I love the elote, Mexican corn which is not on the menu but they have it. It is over priced but for the quality I will continue to visit here for lunch weekly. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g43031-d13657079-r616280525-Taco_Libre-Edina_Minnesota.html# read more

Great service -- even when busy. Very delicious food. I recommend this restaurant to everyone.

This could open up in Mexico City and no one would blink. Totally authentic Mexican tacos, I went twice in a week and got a variety of tacos. All of their meats are legit, and corn tortilla onion and cilantro is the best way to do a taco. Their pickled onions have habanero peppers chopped in it. They do not joke around. The Machete is a little underwhelming as a challenge meal though. It's about four tacos of food. Which isn't very difficult. The flavor's solid though. Keeping this short, but this place does excellent authentic Mexican. Go. read more

This is a great spot to grab a quick bite over the lunch hour! They have fast, friendly service and the food is wonderful! I have yet to place and order I didn't like. Also, they offer just about every kind of salsa you can think of read more

I read so many great reviews about this place on here, and unfortunately did not have quite the same experience. Whist the tacos were okay, I have had much better elsewhere, the price was also higher than other places- and quality of food was not reflected in the price. The portions are big which was a good thing, but generally the tacos lacked a little flavour, and the service was a bit meh too. read more

I have to say I was underwhelmed. You definitely cannot beat the price here, but making sure tables are clean, sauces not contaminated by others, and taking the fish stick taco off the menu will go a long way. read more

I've been staying in the nearby hotel and so this has been pretty much all I've been eating for the past week and their food is AMAZING. Right now they're doing take out, some dine in, and you can order over phone and they're super fast preparing food and when there's more of a line it isn't too bad either. Customer service is amazing and the cashiers are all so nice- Yolanda served me today and she was amazing but they're all really good. Definitely try their signature "machete", and their carnitas are out of this world. You won't be disappointed. read more

I hate to say it but Taco Libre is only okay. I want to love it - wonderful lucha theme, multiple ways to eat it (tacos, plates, MACHETES?!) - but I've gone many times and honestly am never excited to do so. They have an impressive selection of salsas and pickled veggies, but the seasoning on their meats just isn't good. I personally use a ton of salsa and lime to make it edible. My husband dislikes it a BIT less, but he agrees that the meat flavor is off. read more

I love this food. Love it. The Machete? Delicious. I get it with pastor and chorizo. Both some of the best I've had in the Cities. I order their fried plantains regularly too. So good. My wife always orders alambres. Excellent. But every time I order to go food, they screw up my order. I got all the way home before noticing the first time. I had to drive an extra 25 minutes to get my missing item. Ever since that time, I open all my boxes before I leave the restaurant. I had a friend pick up the order tonight. They forgot my plantains. Again. He was nice enough to go back for them. Did management do anything for the screw up? No. Unacceptable. Teach your staff to get the orders right. read more

Decent gringo tacos. Fish tacos are decent and tacos pastor are delicious!! Kids tacos...not so much. My child described her taco as tasting like old man throw up. Not sure what that tastes like but yeah it was pretty gross. Stay away from kids menu and you're good. 3.5 Stars actual rating. Can get way better tacos for way less on Lake Street. But for suburban peeps this is your stop! read more

Grabbed a steak and a carnitas street taco, and chips and guacamole. Under $12. Top notch taste, fast service. Place was very busy and still clean with friendly efficient service. Everyone comes: office workers, construction, parents with young kids, retirees. I was in and out in 25 minutes and I dawdled a bit. Parking was tight. It is in a little strip mall filled with fast food options. Choose this one!! read more

It is honestly the best mixture of authenticity and modern Chicano culture. Highly recommend, Machetes are a must try!

Writing this review after eating here 5 days ago. Had the traditional street tacos. Got 4 tacos and had rajas con queso, beef tripe, pork carnitas, and pork al pastor. Each of the tacos was well made and had the traditional garnishes/toppings of onions, cilantro and lime. Two corn tortillas which were lightly fried made up the base of each taco. I liked this compared to most taco places which seem to use flour tortillas. There was a bar with several different sauces and salsas that you could mix and match. This was a nice addition and I enjoyed the spicy green sauce the most. Overall, Taco Libre knows how to do street tacos well. Can't comment on the other menu items yet but I enjoyed it enough to go back and try something else. Or just get more tacos! read more

The food was decent, but service was not acceptable. I'm not sure if I would come back or not, for the $62 price point we paid, it wasn't worth it. We all got our food at separate times (3 adults, 2 kids). One adults order they were out of an item and had to switch it up while waiting. All the food items came out at different times. They messed up my son's kids meal 3x, and finally I had to ask them to please correct it as we were almost done and he hadn't eaten yet except a few bits off our plates. The guy said another adult in our party said don't worry about it, I said he is my child and he was not fine with it and needs to have his food. Waited several more minutes for the taco, which was correct that time. Again, the food is good, except the chicken tamales we ordered (which were dry), but the service and price point ruined it for me and my family. read more

This is my favorite place to eat under $15! I try to go here once a week if possible. I highly recommend it!

I like the ambiance of the place. I really liked the concept and the decorations of the space. I was surprise to find an okay place for tacos in Minneapolis. People told me to get the machete or the alambre, as those were super good plates. I got to be honest, I went super basic and got the nachos. The description said that it will have queso Oaxaca and lettuce. I added carne asada as the meat. I got a super big plate with lots of lettuce, jalapeños, and very little of carne and nothing of queso Oaxaca. I was disappointed. My boyfriend had a variety of tacos. My impression was that the tacos seem very full in meat and the tortillas are a good size. The horchata was so flavorful and milky. Finally, we order churros. The flavor comes from the cajeta side they give you with it. All in all, I'm giving them 4 starts because i know it's difficult to get all the ingredient for their food being so far away. The food was good. If I'm ever back in Minneapolis I would definitely come back to try their menudo on the weekend. I like the concept of the space and it actually made me feel like i was in a familiar taqueria. read more

Went here because of the Yelp reviews and have to agree, the food is good. We also loved the spices and the lemonade had a hint of cucumber in it. Yessssssssss!!!! Been hearing about this place and finally made it in today! Believe the hype! The guacamole was some of the best I've had, the beef and fish tacos were both awesome and my husband loved his carnitas plate. Definitely try that if you're a carnitas fan.
