Don't sleep on this place!! It's so unassuming that i've lived in the Coachella valley for 30 years and passed it countless times. The front counter person answered the phone promptly and was gracious upon our arrival. We got 2 carne asada burritos. The same thing we always get when we want Mexican food. The burrito was so big, which was surprising considering the price was only $20 for 2 carne asada burritos and one with extra carne. It came with plenty of chips, salsa and limes. Yes. We stay at the Days Inn next door each time we are passing through Indio (6 times a year at least) just so we can get take out from this establishment. The food is delicious, prices are good, and the people who work there are fantastic. Special shout out to the woman who is always manning the front... exceptional service. The food is ok, the service is great! This is my usual spot for quick breakfast burritos when I'm in the area because it's close. I'm always greeted by the friendly staff and timing is consistent whether I'm eating in or taking out. This last time I was here, after we ordered, the waitress asked if we wanted chips & beans while we waited. I kindly said no because I didn't want her to do any extra work. While we were sitting and waiting, she brought over the plate of chips anyway haha. I thought that was very thoughtful of her. The food isn't going to blow your mind, but it's consistent. This is not the place to come with kids. My 2 year old placed a sticker, in his counter. (it was not okay but i didn't realize) until, the same guy that took our order, came and said rudely DO NOT LET YOUR KIDS PUT STICKERS THANK YOU. This place is comfortable and large inside. The staff is extremely friendly and kind. The music videos and music playing was its own source of entertainment- throwback hits you can't help but sing along with. I got a torta for the road which was good 8 hours later when I got home! I got tacos which were delicious, could have been a little less cooked down but we got chips and guacamole and all kinds of goodies while we were waiting. 10/10 for the experience and 8/10 for the food. read more

Heard about this place and got the chance to grab some takeout and let me tell you... This place is a hit all the way and I am writing this before even eating. Their service alone is beyond 5 stars. Helpful, caring and such wonderful workers. Rocio took my order and helped me when I picked up food. (My boyfriend and I Just tried food. I ordered ceviche, tacos carne asada and caldo de res.) A couple of friends and I stayed at Days Inn, literally right next to Taco Jalisco. Very convenient to walk a few steps out the door for awesome Mexican food. Service was great! The lady who took our order and served us was very hospitable and sweet. She set up our table with napkins and utensils and we felt very welcomed. Portions are humongous and meals are not pricey at all so it's super worth it. I had the quesadilla and my boyfriend had the enchiladas. The enchiladas came with not just two, but THREE enchiladas, as well as beans, rice and more chips. Usually he finishes his food, but it was impossible to eat it all. Our other friends shared tacos and a torta. That torta was HUGE and seemed bigger than my head! More than enough for one person. I probably would have trouble trying to eat half of it. As native San Diegans, we can be picky when it comes to Mexican food and authenticity, and this place passed. If I lived in Indio, I'd frequent this place often to fulfill my quesadilla cravings. This place is also very kid friendly with an arcade game. You ever walk into a place and you instantly feel that homely vibe? Well that was this place for me! The decor is outdated and the menu is old but that's what makes this place what it is. We stopped on our way to Arizona to gas up and get some food and stumbled on to Tacos Jalisco. There was a older lady and a gentleman in the back working and preparing orders. There were only a handful of people in the restaurant and the two I mentioned. The older lady, who by the way reminded me of one of my beloved Tias, was quick to excuse herself for the wait, she was taking and order from someone else. She quickly took our order and excused herself again, I told her not to apologize as we had not waited too long. We ordered two burritos and they were excellent. The lady stopped by a few times to ask how we were doing and to clean the table and other tables around us. It was a very pleasant experience. These are the types of places that warm your heart and you ask God to bless them with lots of business. This taco shop is terrible my wife and I went for dinner I order a bowl of birria and my wife tacos. I don't recommend the birria It was served birria and menudo mixed together so I complaint I was told they out of birria and I wouldn't mind the combo they very wrong. The tables were dirty and greasy it was dark inside we couldn't see ourselves eat bad. This place is very deceiving everything is old it's very dark outside no lights and the worst thing the color of the building YELLOW BlUE ugly never been painted or remodeled or new upgrades. We were lucky to stumble upon this gem during a recent road trip between Arizona and California, and we ended up eating there three times. Great selection of delicious Mexican food, and everything we tried was wonderful, from breakfast chilaquiles to burrito plates to the array of flavorful soups. The service is beyond friendly, and although they were serving buses full of people every time we visited, we never had to wait too long for our meals. For anyone interested in decent taco's, I have a find for you. Taco's Jalisco is a brightly painted building on Monroe. They have a decent amount of parking. The building is old, and it shows when you walk through the door. There is a weather barrier enclosed entryway that has a horrible burned rubber smell to it (which is NOT a great fist impression). Once we got into the main restaurant, we smelled the wonderful scent of traditional Mexican food as we walked past bins of iced bottles of beer and sodas. The room is dated and worn but very clean. You can feel the effort the staff puts into this place. The woman at the order counter was wonderful (I am guessing the manager?). She greeted us with a large smile, even though we were the only gringo's in a fairly crowded room. She offered opinions on what to get and was so nice. The taco's are so inexpensive, I assumed they would be the tiny street taco's, so i ordered four (OOP's, Mistake). Next time I go, I will get three, and be totally content. I did not finish four. All the tacos were served on average tortillas that were larger than expected. I would call these medium sized tacos. They were all perfectly proportioned with a decent amount of meat to tortilla and toppings of onion, tomato, lettuce and cilantro were just right. I have a tie for the favorite, pollo and al pastor. I could not pick one over the other. The chicken was cooked with fried onion, and it had a wonderful caramelized flavor with tons of other flavors mixed in. The al pastor taco was tender and had a great, slightly fruity flavor, with a touch too much salt. The carne asada was great flavor and a nice touch of grilled char flavor. There was a bit more fat in the taco than I prefer, but no inedible gristle. The carnitas had some of the best flavor of any carnitas I have tasted in a while, but it was too dry. If they could get that flavor and keep the meat moister, I would be set. I noticed the place was filled with regulars that seemed to joke and converse with the staff. I think that is the sign of a place tha treats people well in the long run. I will place Taco's Jalisco in my favorite street taco list and I will definitely return to try other items on the menu. Heck, I would suggest you visit, just to witness the amazing warmth of the staff. read more

Boy, did I dine at the same place as the others who posted here?!? Or maybe they work here or own the place. Ha! The only thing good about this place is the very friendly and accomodating staff. The food sucks. But I guess from Los Angeles, where mom and pop mexican rules and is often very very good, I must be really spoiled. Chips, refried beans were fine. The carnitas were tasteless, dry and almost inedible. The chicken had some strange marinade that was only slightly less than offensive to the senses. We should have kept driving to the El Pollo Loco we were going to when we saw this place and got sidetracked. The guacamole was barely acceptable but the salsas were nothing to write home about. Visited on Thursday 9/7/17, around 1:00pm, I went to my favorite place, in Indio, for some Carne Asada tacos, placed my order, and then waited for my food. Service as usual was cordial and friendly, I was looking forward to my lunch. My order arrived at my table and began to add chile and lemon to my tacos when I picked up the taco, and noticed a dead cockroach that was under neath the taco, mixed in with the lettuce, on the plate with my food. I was shocked, and disgusted. I called over to the young lady and showed her what I had found, and she offered to get another order of tacos out to me, I declined, that's when she offered a full refund. I got up and left.
