You get at least 3 amazing experiences when you dine here. First when you walk in you are treated like family. You feel like your long lost cousin has finally found you and wants to celebrate you. Second the menu has a wide variety, but unfortunately no Chile relleno. Still the deeelicious tostadas, enchiladas and carnitas are my favorites. Never a disappointment. The free chips w bean and pickled jalapeño a different and yummy appetizer. Third is the pricing so reasonable and food portions big. Order at the counter and seat yourself and the oh so lovely owner or her son will bring you the food. They will always check to see if you have any needs. Timing is important though. I decided to give Taco Jalisco a try after the hotel next door struck out on breakfast--and I'm so glad I did. The restaurant is spacious, very clean, and has a comfortable, welcoming vibe. Even though a tour bus group was just wrapping up their meal when I walked in, the service was impressively fast. The staff member at the counter was extremely courteous and helpful. You can tell they care about their customers. I ordered a breakfast burrito, and wow--this thing was huge. Easily one of the biggest I've ever had, and I couldn't even finish it. I also got a side of beans and rice, both of which were delicious. One of the highlights was trying all four of their sauces, starting from right to left: * Verde (green): Great flavor with just a bit of heat. My favorite of the bunch. * Bright red: Extremely hot. If you don't like spicy, steer clear! * Dark red: Also spicy, but really tasty. * Salsa (last one): Really good flavor, not overly hot. My second favorite. They also included a small serving of nachos, which were surprisingly good--crispy, fresh, and flavorful. Overall, I'd absolutely come back. It's hard to give 5 stars to a taco place. Outwardly, they all seem the same and all have the same menu. But...Taco Jalisco is a cut above the rest. The staff is friendly and helpful, the interior is roomy and clean and the food is top quality. The staff member was nice and even added some extra hot salsa and chips with beans to my taco order. I tried a shrimp taco (4/5; generous amount of shrimp and good flavor), fish taco (4.5/5; fish was really nicely seasoned and the cream sauce was a great pairing), and al pastor (3.5/5; my least favorite of the tacos but relatively solid. Honestly, the first two tacos were so tasty and filling, I was no longer hungry when I got around to the pastor one). This place was on our way out of Coachella. We walked in and ordered at the front. I got a cappuccino and the birria soup. I also shared a carne asada torta with my boyfriend. He got an horchata and posole and later got a Mexican coke. The cashier was also the one serving our food. He helped us decide what to order and was so nice. I'm a fan of mom-and-pop businesses. I'd rather keep money local, if I can. Taco Jalisco allows me to do exactly that. Located on Monroe, near the freeway, it is a popular spot, especially for buses. The location is a converted diner. Though it may not be good for groups, the all booth style takes one back to a different era in dining. The menu covers the typical taquería offerings, including tacos, burritos, and nachos. Everything is made-to-order and made from scratch. Prices are incredibly reasonable, especially given the quality and quantity of food served. The owner is one of the nicest ladies I've ever met. She greets everyone and is service-oriented. She'll fuss over you, like you're family. I typically order tacos to take back to my staff. Everything is packaged in a way that all I have to do is take off some foil and it is ready to go! I'm a fan of their carne asada and carnitas. But, the best thing on the menu, in my world, are the beans. They are outstanding; creamy, perfectly seasoned, with a great mouth feel. If they aren't using lard, I'd be shocked. Orders of nachos with meat are enormous and easily shared. Every time I order to go, the owner will bring me a plate of chips with beans, cheese and jalapeños to snack on, while I wait. This is a simple gesture, but it is so sweet and makes me want to come back. Canned and bottled drinks are kept on ice. Because buses do stop here, you may find the location quite full. One thing to note is the parking. The building is shared with a U-Haul location. There are some parking spots in the back, but that is where many of the U-Haul trucks are stored. The lot back there is also full of pot holes. There are a few parking spots on the side of the building, but there are typically trucks parked there. You may have to park on the street, so as to not park in the hotel parking area. read more

I was so excited to try their food. I had saw someone left great review on Instagram. Let me tell you I was so disappointed and so upset cause I even danced when I got my Menudo. It was the worst Menudo I've ever had in my life, this sucks that the Menudo came in was just pure water no taste. It did have red color like they put food coloring in it but other than that, it was horrible. I got a bean and cheese burrito that had no taste whatsoever. My husband got Carnitas and he said his Carnitas were burnt. I'm assuming the Asada tacos were good because my son did not complain, but unfortunately I won't go here again. read more

This is for my well-heeled readers passing through Indio for whatever reason. Go to Taco Jalisco! (I'm only amplifying the other 5-star reviews.) It's located in a converted diner, and run exceptionally well by a single family. Their food is fantastic Mexican home cooking at reasonable prices. Sure they have all of the classics that you know and love: fresh tacos, burritos, enchiladas, etc. But get beyond the basics and check out things like the homemade soups. I asked "what's great?" and ordered what was recommended (a soup), and it was epic. The particular block they're on in Indio doesn't have a ton of "curb appeal." The parking lot is busted up. It's a busy corner. There's a UHaul in the back. Ignore all of that stuff. It's close to I-10 and on Monroe: very accessible. And don't get distracted if there are folks hanging around out front (and sometimes inside) with suitcases: Jalisco allows an informal passenger service to use the restaurant as a meetup spot. You might meet a smattering of friendly abuelas y abuelos scoring affordable rides to Mexicali. Cannot say enough good things about this place. Vamos pronto! read more
