The somewhat tilty sign above our table

This was our first Mexican meal in Tucson and it makes you realize how much better Mexican food is in the southwest compared to Minnesota. I knew this would be true, but the contrast is unnerving because it makes you realize that what you think is "good" Mexican food has been totally distorted by mediocrity. The service was friendly and helpful -- no complaints there. The dining rooms itself seemed a bit overspaced, but certainly was clean and serviceable. Starting with the salsa and chips, well, that alone makes it all worthwhile. Having it homemade and fresh makes all difference. Then onto the steak taco I had, which was flavorful, juicy, plentiful, and had all the right toppings. That was only exceeded by the shrimp tostada I ordered with amazingly fresh and sweet shrimp. Honestly, $10.99 is a steal for this item. My wife was happy with her beef taquitos, although it wouldn't have been my first choice.

Cool spot that seems to be a locally owned place with multiple locations? The food was good, the service got off to a slow start. I don't think the hostess communicated to the server we were seated in her section. The good was pretty good. For a bit my friend and I were the only non-Latino folks in there which is a good sign for a Mexican restaurant.

Ordené el aguachile rojo y me dieron un aguachile con salsa de tomate y cilantro): Porfavor traigan devuelta su restaurant en Thornydale, me decepcionaron mucho sus platillos

I think they could've gone a little bit crispy on the hash brown, but other than that, everything was real good

What a fantastic spot for a hearty, delicious meal! Taco Giro is a local gem. Whether you're in the mood for authentic Mexican food or a classic American breakfast, they have you covered. I've had the enchiladas, and the red sauce is rich and flavorful--pure comfort food! My friend got the machaca with eggs and loved it. The portions are generous, the food tastes homemade, and the service is always friendly. It's our go-to spot for a satisfying breakfast or lunch. Highly recommend!

Okay okay okay , here we go here we go , I would say ... Sleeper! Its a non talk about for sure. I am for sure coming back soon , I honestly got back into YELP just for this meal here . I got the Molcajete mixo. The amount of meat and chicken is what i loved but more than that the flavor of the salsa in the bowl. Super good and flavorful. The shrimp can be the bigger ones but they are a decent size still I would say . The nopales were so good ! The green onions coulda been cooked more but thats just my picky ass haha! That 26.99 plate tho with rice beans and guac is so worth it. Been going there since i was a youngin cause my tio loved it and we always super close being from sonora st. Good service cold beers and chill vibes . Ima go back for the birria pizza soon !

Stopped in here on our recent stay in Tucson. What a hidden gem! The atmosphere was neighborly, service was quick and professional and the food was amazing. Very fresh ingredients and large portions. I had the Mixto Plate and my husband had a Combo Platter with tacos and enchiladas. Everything was delicious. I highly recommend if you are in the area.

We didn't have many choices on Xmas eve and ended up here. Lucky choice. Staff were amazingly nice even though we were the last customers before their Xmas break. Loved the asada torta. They have a meat and seafood combo dish (forget the name) that was great too. They gave our kids marshmallow pops as a gift.

After a short fun hike at Tumamoc, my friends and I stumbled on this place 5min. away and were so pleasantly surprised! We got such a friendly greeting from the woman cleaning the patio, then went inside to see they had TVs playing the game as well. There are tables and booths, and I believe a bar area too. The menu was so large and had great pictures of many options, it was hard to choose! The presentation at this restaurant is amazing, the portions are large, and the salsa was a favorite at our table too! The food came out in a very decent time too for our party if 4. It's amazing that this place could easily take us while "Seis" at Mercado had a line to the Parking lot. Our server didn't seem to be the friendliest, but it may have been a cultural difference.. I do think there was a couple times she didn't understand us. You receive your receipt from the server and pay at the register at the front. At the counter there are marshmallow figures that I learned are flavored marshmallows (mine was strawberry ). I'm definitely adding this place to my list to bring out of town friend's & family!

Went here on a lunch date with hubby. They have a large menu and will have to come back to try out more of the dishes they have! The appetizer was ok. Kinda bland. I would prob try something else next time. Their salsa was good! They also serve their salsa with a side of pork beans. Great flavor! I got the fajita mixta and was really happy with that dish! It was alot for one person so I'm looking forward to the leftovers my hubby got the Carne Asada plate and although the meat was a bit fatty he got two big pieces of meat that made up for it. What I really liked was their customer service :) Our waiter was really friendly and on top of our drink refills. They have a really good lunch and breakfast menu that I would want to explore as well as all their seafood options! Will definitely come back

This place has delicious drinks and good! Seafood is great and I just love that they have different deals for the time of day! What I ordered here was off the lunch menu 9.99 tostada Caribeño! Very good deal for the price it was so big and filling I couldn't finish it. My coworker ordered the 3 tacos deal which also came with rice and beans! Also said it was good. The chips and salsa they sit you with at the beginning are a must! Most people love the spicy bean dip! This is a must try spot :)

She offered to allow me to try the foods that we didn't enjoy over. I took her upon her offer. I tried the al pastor tacos and quesadillas. They were fresh and you can tell that the meat was marinated well. I also had a Sonoran dog which was amazing. Everything was delicious. I love supporting local businesses and would definitely recommend going to tell. And they have new desserts that I will come back and try. Ambiance was clean and inviting.

No positive or negative. The man who brought our food to the table had no personality so overall, a 4 out of 10 for service. Many here brag about the salsa bar. There's a good variety but the tiny cups you scoop the salsa into are comically small. Good way to save money I guess. Both of our quesadillas were average in flavor and mine was greasy. Cheese on both was flavorless. Both seemed like something you can cook at home for a 10th of the price. The refried bean taco that came with each quesadilla had very little refried beans. Food score - 4.5 out of 10. Not sure about the rave reviews for this little place. Come on Tucson, 60 miles from Mexico and this is what you call Mexican food?

The store has a butcher counter, small grocery section, ready to eat food made to order, and a bbq master waiting to grill your carne asada. The birria bombs are located behind the counter. WOW! This was so incredibly easy to prepare. The meat, water, and the bomb, that's it. The flavor was really good. For me, it was a little on the spicy side, but my husband thought it was the perfect amount of heat. My only word of caution is use the shoulder or chuck roast it recommends. I didn't have either of those at home, but I did have a 3.5 hunk of London broil, so I used that. I had to keep it in the crock pot for an extra 2 hours to get the meat tender, but it was worth it. I also failed on the corn tortillas, didn't have any, so we made quesadillas with flour tortillas and ate the birria on the side. Still super delicious.

Also purchased flour tortillas, salsa, green corn tamales, red chile tamales and beans. The food was delicious with two exceptions--red and green tamales. The tamales most definitely need to be discarded and replaced.... 1. So so dry; not moist; not fluffy 2. Green corn needed more cheese and more green chile; too skimpy on the ingredients 3. Masa was gritty Service was excellent. Meat counter staff were very helpful. The gentleman grilling was very friendly and accommodating. Cashiers were friendly and polite. Will be back soon but WILL NOT TOUCH THE TAMALES.

When we entered the restaurant, I was immediately impressed with all of the accolades that Amelia's Kitchen seems to have accrued over the years. Maybe that set my expectations too high. We made a reservation, which I highly recommend, so we were quickly seated. but it did take a bit for someone to actually come and greet us and take our drink orders after being sat down. Then it was probably another 40 minutes before we actually got our food. I'm not sure if it was this lag time that affected the food quality, but several of my items were just lukewarm and some even cold? The star of the show was definitely, the molcajete. This came out sizzling and full to the brim with shrimp, nopales, chicken, asada, cheese, and lots of other goodies. In hindsight, I probably should've ordered one for myself. I went with the chicken mole enchiladas. Again, the sauce was okay but not super spicy, and it was a little cold, as was my side of rice and beans. We also ordered the mini birria chimis to share. and these were just OK, they tasted like frozen food. Overall, if you come here, I highly recommend getting the molcajete, but can't really vouch for any other items. Maybe we'll try it again on a less busy night.
