I've never actually eaten inside, but my dad is always great to bring me my favorite Tamales! They serve up some of the best tamales I've ever tasted! I believe they only have them on the weekends, but it is so worth it! One order lasted me 2 days, so come with a big appetite. P.S. The sauce that comes with the tamales is HOT! Use with caution. Wow this place is interesting :). A little sketchy on the outside for sure! Took me a while to decide if I was coming in or not. When I walk in I feel like I'm in a little pueblo in Mexico. But the food looks delicious! It is all home made and large portions. Small business and has a mini market in the front so you have to walk all the way to the back to order your food. No prices on food though and be sure to be patient if you do not speak Spanish as this is the primary language when you walk in. Grade A/99.0 rating on sanitation and cleanliness. read more

If you're like I am and ate tacos in the good ol' day from taco trucks (NOT talking about the current fashion food trucks with essence de salsa reduction or whatever, but the kind that pulled behind the blue collar workplaces at break time), then you're in for a treat. Plenty of asada meat and not a lot of grizzle. Double corn tortillas that don't fall apart (the dude whose review said they don't have flour tortillas is correct, thankfully). They threw in a grilled jalapeno into my takeaway box which was the frosting on the cake. Their chile picante (red sauce) is also fire on the tongue, if you like heat. A hole in the wall with some of the best authentic Mexican food around! I was invited to lunch there with a friend and was a little skeptical of the environment at first since it was in a strip mall and to some it may come off as a little seedy looking but let me tell you....BEST authentic mexican food.....NO LIE!!! I enjoyed a chicken torts which is HUGE, along with a cool and creamy cup of horchata. The staff are friendly and make sure that you get your food as quickly as possible. If you are not comfortable with raw meat don't hit this place up....why? when you enter you go through a tienda (store) full of mexican goods....on one side in the back is a carneceria (butcher) and the other side is the restaurant. NOW you can't see the meats etc while you are seated HOWEVER, you can when you walk in and you may smell the slight meaty aroma in the air.....so...if that makes you queasy....i'd go to la fiesta or something...but you are gonna miss out on some kick a** food!! read more

Great full service taquería! Ok here's the deal. The name of the place from the exterior is Pequeño Mexico. Once inside, you'll see a small grocery store specializing in Latin American offerings. Take 10 steps inside, and you'll see a carnecería on the left and a full service taquería on the right. They also offer outdoor seating. The menu offers daily specials, and we've noticed many repeat customers. I don't know that a better value exists in High Point. I've also seen families come here for the Horchata, because they offer free refills. The tableside service is what keeps us coming back. This allows us to avoid clumsy counter service which can disrupt the flow and experience. If you like tacos, quesadillas or authentic soups, this is a great place to visit. read more

This place is the closest to the Mexican food we are accustomed to in Texas. True made from scratch Mexican coffee. Guacamole fresh with nice chunks of avocado. Wow, what an awesome restaurant!! To start, the chips and salsa were ridiculously fresh and delicious. The tacos, quesadillas, and pupusas were also divine - flavorful, fresh, and with just the right amount of grease. This is maybe my favorite place to eat in High Point now, and I can't wait to go back! Side note: My boyfriend slipped on their floor and fell, and they insisted on covering our dinner!! Very authentic Mexican in the back of a mercado. Guacamole is delicious and made from scratch after ordered. 3 quesadillas ($8) could easily feed 2. Only downside is that they use corn tortillas. Didn't ask about flour they might have them if you ask. read more

This restaurant is part of an all-in-one Latino taqueria, meat market, and grill. Through the front door you walk into a 6-aisle mini grocery store with a 2 section produce case. Behind that to the left is a meat counter, where I suggest trying pre-cut meat and peppers for cooking fajitas later at a cheap 3.50/lb. To the right behind the grocery aisles is the restaurant. It has 10 booths in a small section. True authentic mexican/latino food, you can get 3 chicken quesadillas or tacos for 7 dollars with a wedge of lime to squeeze on the meat of your choice. The crumbled cheese, flavor of the grilled chicken, green tomatillo sauce, or the hotter spicy red sauce is truly great. I've tried chicken,beef, and chorizo tacos and quesadillas so far, and a mexican drink called horchata which is a sweet rice milk with cinnamon and vanilla I think? Not a huge menu, but as it's written in spanish and the person that takes the order doesn't speak english very well I'm sticking with what I know. The neighborhood, though across from the GTCC High Point campus, isn't the nicest. Since I love the food so much and the price is so reasonable, I've visited probably in the 20-30 times range now. Bought a few things from the grocery store side and the meat counter.. I've had nothing but a pleasant experience every time I've been here. Also there is a mexican bakery on the other side of the Family Dollar from this market that I hope to get to review later if I'm not beaten to it. ;-) Enjoy~! read more
