If you're down on South Main St in High Point and are looking for Mexican food, this is a safe bet. It's nothing over the top, but on par with all the other local Mexican spots. They have an extensive lunch menu, reasonable prices with good portions. Service is good, and food fills the craving. Today I got Pollo Supremo, basically ACP with onions, peppers zucchini and mushrooms added. It was good, and more than I could eat. I'm sure I'll be back!

Tacos de Alambre, rice and beans

I went looking for a New Mexican restaurant only to realize, once I got there, that I'd been here before. However, no complaints because the last time, I'd had the Pancho's Tacos and they were so good. So I decided to order the tacos de alambre. Great choice. 3 steak tacos on corn tortillas (my choice) topped with fresh guacamole, rice and beans. This was more than enough for 1 meal. The tacos were so delicious. They actually come with not 1 but 2 corn tortillas so that makes a more secure fold as these are really stuffed. So good!! My only complaint was the service. I was seated quickly and drink order taken. I got an unsweetened tea with little or no ice. Fortunately the table across from me was loaded with kids and parents being constantly waited on so I was able to get a server to bring me some ice. Fortunately they also brought it with more tea as I never would have gotten a refill. I never saw my server the rest of the meal. In fact, I had to flag another server down to get a to-go box. I then pushed my plates to the edge so they'd see I was finished but no one brought a ticket. Finally I went up to the counter to pay without a ticket. Maybe it was because I was a single diner but this happens far too often.

We visited Pancho Villa's for the first time for dinner tonight. The food was delicious and the portions were very generous, especially on the kids menu. We had the pollo fundido and the fajitas - the chicken on both was tender and right off the grill. The food came quickly and there was plenty of seating for groups of all sizes. Everything seemed clean and fresh - I would definitely come back here again!

Bean dip, beer, and chips. Match made in heaven.

Great Mexican place with great atmosphere. Service was prompt even with two very large parties right next to me. The meat was cooked properly and tender. Overall a good place and will be returning.

Spice is real!!!! Just driving in the middle of nowhere and stumbled upon this restaurant. It was very clean-but cold. Service was good. My friend ordered the spiciest Mexican shrimp meal I had ever tasted. Muy bueno! Turned out great because we both had sinus issues and the shrimp made a huge difference. It came with rice and beans. Salsa great as well. I ordered the Fajita nachos with chicken. Lots of yummy cheese! No complaints except we found the chicken very dry. I would definitely recommend checking out this Restaurant.

    Elote bites

Pancho Villas is one of many Mexican restaurants to call High Point home, but its size and menu offerings help it stand out from the pack. The fact that it was moderately crowded a little past two on a Sunday afternoon speaks to its value and general competence as much as it does to its popularity. "Big" seems to define Pancho Villas in several regards. There is plenty of parking, plenty of seating, and plenty to choose from on the menu. These offerings include the usual suspects (tacos, burritos, fajitas, etc.) as well as a few dishes I've yet to see elsewhere. Elote (street corn) is offered here in breaded bite form, and the menu also boasts of red snapper with diablo sauce and fried Cornish hen. From light to heavy, mild to spicy, and vegetarian to omnivorous, there seems to be something for everyone here. The "somethings" I had occasion to try for my first visit were the aforementioned elote bites and a monster chile verde wet burrito. The former were amazing: crunch on the outside and cheesy on the inside with just a hint of sweetness. The burrito was appreciably substantial and appropriately slathered (in lettuce, cheese, sour cream, and guac). The pork inside was cut in smaller pieces than typical for this dish, but it was no less flavorful. Nothing on the plate struck a false note. For the amount of food, Pancho Villas' pricing is more than fair. My burrito (which easily yielded leftovers) came in at $9 while the elote bites (app-sized for two) were $7. As mentioned, it was fairly busy during the visit (and therefore a but loud), but service was up to the task. Pancho Villas is not the best Mexican restaurant I've encountered nor is it the most convenient, but it is a tasty, wallet-friendly option worth going out of the way for should specific cravings (a.k.a. elote bites) hit.

I picked up and was disappointed. I had to season my food at home and my beans had run into and onto EVERYTHING! Maybe a dine in experience would be different. I won't be returning but that's my two cents.

Service is slow! Clean that up so unorganized and food is okay and there guacamole is always taste bad that comes with the salad!

Place was slammed because of Cinco but the service was quick and food was great! Large portion of food and the hamburger meat wasn't greasy.

We also got an appetizer of corn ribs because... that stuff is delicious. I appreciate the tea being brought in GIANT glasses, as I was never wanting for a refill. I don't see why more places don't do this, what an easy way to relieve your server of a common service pain point. There was also a birthday party while we were there, and let me tell you, the entire restaurant... lights, music, and all... shifts into party mode when it's time to sing that person a song. Pretty impressive. Anyway, back to the food. We did enjoy the corn ribs, but they were pretty messy and difficult to eat. I have seen some examples at other places where the kernels were easier to get at, or you could even eat the husk part because it was so thin. Also, we would have liked a little more, the ribs did not even really add up to a full large ear of corn. The fajitas for two were really good and a huge portion. Very tender meat and veggies. We would have liked to see more pineapple. The chunks were small and a little sparse on the skillet, so in the end, we didn't get much of that tropical flavor. In the end, it wasn't enough to deduct a star as we had an excellent overall experience. Thanks amigos!

Update for our 2026 annual visit:…read more We ate in this year and the service and ambiance matched the quality of the food we had last year. I have been looking forward to the World Ninja Championships so that I can eat here again and the team did not disappoint. I had the special, chilaquiles supreme and YES! Flank steak butterflied and so tender that I cut through it easily with a butter knife. They make the chips fresh for each order of chilaquiles and you can taste it. Generous amounts of every flavor that went into the meal and I left stuffed! Hands down, my favorite place and I have a feeling we are making a second trip here this year for sure! First impression as you walk in, or look at images of the menu: AUTHENTIC! First impressions when you bite into your food: They nailed the first impression! I had the lingua, tripa, pez, and Pastor tacos. My family had the California burrito, chicken and beef tacos, and the Enchiladas Mexicanos with mole and salsa verde. We also added a side of guac and chips. Guac: thin mixed avocado and perfectly sized chunks mixed in with the tomato and seasonings. An absolute must! The 4 tacos I ate were succulent to say the least. The tripa was thin and crispy, but you could taste the rendered fat in them. It had the texture of perfectly cooked bacon. Al pastor is one of my favorites and this one did not disappoint. Then there was the pez taco that was just the right amount of crispy without being an iota overcooked. At last I ate the lingua taco. It melted in my mouth and I immediately wanted another. I don't even like mole sauce, but I couldn't stop eating the mole enchilada. Aces, hands down. The California burrito was phenomenal and had the perfect amount of each ingredient and a delectable amount of heat and sweet cream sauce. The chicken was obviously hand shredded and had equal amounts of larger chunks of meat and thin pulled pieces to soak up all the flavor in endless nooks and crannies. If you have not been here please do your palate a flavor and stop in. The value far exceeded the price of our meals and we plan on coming here every year when the World Ninia finals rome to town

The restaurant itself was really clean despite the lunch rush just having gone through. So we were really impressed with the tables being kept up after the lunch rush and the chairs were comfortable as well. The prices are fair especially with how good the food is. Even our family friend who is notoriously picky was impressed by the food. One downside was that it was difficult to understand the lady behind the counter however we were able to order by pointing to what we wanted. One of the meals we got we aren't sure exactly what it was, as we pointed to something someone else had gotten. Our friend got the chicken quesadilla and she said it was really good. The only thing that was a little disappointing was the guacamole. It was a bit thin and bland. We went based on a recommendation of a coworker who said they had three tacos for $9.99 as part of a meal and they said they were so good and it was a really great value which is why we went there. We definitely weren't disappointed and plan on returning.
