Lunch special, taco and enchilada, $6.99!!!!

Holy Christ!!!! I just found an extremely authentic Mexican place in High Point, NC. The food is amazing and fresh!!!!

We love visiting authentic Mexican restaurants across the state. This was beyond disappointing. Service was beyond slow. Food came out at random increments and we had to ask when two in our party never received their food. Then we were told that they were out of chicken. One person switched theirs to another meat choice, but it seemed their plate of rice and beans had been sitting so long it was ice cold and they mentioned the taste of the beans was rancid and couldn't eat them. While the crispy tacos in the photo look good, there was an odd mustard sauce that ruined the entire plate.

Finally had some decent Mexican food in North Carolina. These events are few and far between. I don't mean to rag on anyone's food preferences, but I just cannot adapt to the queso cheese dip being used to smother everything from arroz con pollo to enchiladas, quesadillas and burritos in this state. Mi Taqueria did not do that. I had such a delicious lunch. The customer service was excellent. I ordered off the lunch menu and got the enchilada and taco plate, hold the beans and rice because I don't eat as much for lunch these days. I chose shredded chicken for the filling meat, out of several choices (steak, grilled chicken, pulled pork, shredded chicken, etc) This meal could easily fill a hungry man for lunch if rice or beans was added, and don't forget the complimentary chips and salsa. Two salsas in squirt tubes also brought to the table (red and green hot sauce). The salsa with chips was very, very mild. Almost like just tomato sauce but this is fine. Not everyone can do spice. I enjoyed the green salsa which was also mildly spicy and flavorful. I arrived just after the lunch crowd so it was empty when I ate but pretty full when I arrived at 1pm. All in all, a perfect Friday lunch on a hot September day.

Great tacos! Just moved here from Arizona and had been looking for a great Mexican restaurant. We found it in Mi Taqueria thanks to a random Reddit post from the owners in law. Glad I followed their recommendation. We tried chorizo and carne asada tacos. The food is cheap for the portions and the quality of the food is extremely good. The salsas are great as well! Definitely worth the drive to eat here.

Giant burrito, lots of creamy queso, excellent fillings. Top notch.

I seem to be making a habit out of following my fellow Yelpers around to the various unknown and underrated taquerias in town, and Mi Taqueria is no exception. The food here is some of the best and most authentic Mexican cuisine in the area, the prices are very reasonable, and the service could not be more efficient and kind. We'll start with the look and feel. This area of High Point has seen better days, there is no question about that, but thankfully the food here has not. From the outside this place is not much to look at, but the inside is clean and open. The bar is quite nice actually. Tables and seating are simple, but serve their purpose. My friends and I came in and chose a seat by the windows. We were greeted immediately and ordered drinks. There is no sweet tea here, and sodas are sold by the can, but there is a great variety of fresh fruit drinks available as well. Chips are thick, crunchy, and warm. The salsa served with it is deliciously tangy. But wait... you'll get 5 more bottles of various sauces and salsas once you order! Both green varietals are excellent, watch out for the reds! A couple of them will burn your mouth out if you aren't ready... so be sure to taste test a little drop. Speaking of burn your mouth out, every meal seems to come with a delicious grilled and salted jalapeno pepper. Mine tasted very mild and had great flavor, my wife's had had more time on the vine, and i mistakenly took a big bite... and was almost crying. Tread carefully, but definitely enjoy it, they really do it right. I ordered Gorditas con Barbacoa, because that is my favorite meat/style, and they were just tops. The puffy tortillas had a wonderful consistency, like a slightly firmer tamal. Each of them were overstuffed with meat, queso fresco, sour cream, pico, and lettuce. Wonderful dish. My friends each ordered burritos of different types. They were absolutely monsterous in size, and swimming in some of the best queso I have ever tasted. The taste on everything was well above average, and you had a variety of salsas to mix and match. Overall, we loved our experience here, and will definitely be back. I encourage anyone in the area to make a small trip out this direction and support these wonderful people and their awesome food.

The bar area, with a few booths on the far wall.

This place is a classic hole-in-the-wall - it is worn and shabby on the outside, with a small parking area that may well require you to back out into Green Street when you are ready to leave. Inside, it is very simply furnished - a small bar area, a few booths against the left wall, and a series of dated tables with straight back chairs occupying the right side of the restaurant, the spacing is such that there is a very open feeling to that area, and to the restaurant as a whole, for that matter. But, it is the food that draws you here, and it will be the food, and the service, that almost assuredly bring you back. The tacos are excellent, and substantial with their double corn tortilla construction - these bad boys do not fall apart - and there is a lot of filling. I tried the Asada, Chorizo, Carnitas, and Barbacoa tacos, and they were as good as any of the street tacos I've tried, with the possible exception of those made by Taqueria El Azteca. We also tried the Carnitas Dinner with Rice & Beans, and the Chile Verde, also with Rice & Beans. These proved to be as good as the tacos, and the carnitas were especially tender and full of flavor. The beans were tasty, though the rice was a touch bland, but that just picking a nit. The salsa and chips here are solid, as well. The service was friendly, efficient, and attentive. We'll be back - might even catch Michael P there some day. They open at 10AM if you like an early start.

This hole in the wall delivered an amazing food experience! $7.99 Not knowing when I would be back, I opted to try the tacos as it would allow me to try several different meats. All the tacos were loaded with cilantro! They were very bare bones, making the meat the main attraction. They provided at least one lime wedge for each taco which i loved! I tend to always ask for more limes. 1. lengua- This is tongue. I never tried tongue until that day! It was extremely tender. It tasted like beef but didn't have much flavor to it. So overall, tongue wasn't bad but not much seasoning happening here. 2. barbacoa- I didn't know what to expect here because sometimes barbacoa is beef and sometimes it is lamb. I believe this was a shredded chopped beef. It was flavorful, but the assortment of sauces they provide really added some brightness and zest to this taco. 3. campechanos- This is bacon and steak. The flavor of the bacon was overwhelming. I'm not saying that is a bad thing. The cilantro and hot sauces balanced out the fat in the meat. 4. steak with chorizo- the chorizo made this taco salty and delicious. I can't decide if this one or the campechanos was my favorite. I definitely enjoyed trying all the different meats and hot sauces. The chips and salsa provided with the meal were also delicious. Each plate came with it's own roasted and seasoned jalepenos. I enjoyed ripping it apart and putting a slice on each taco. It really added something spicey and fresh. I can't wait to go back and try the marinated pork! I would definitely recommend trying this place out.

This place holds a special place in my heart! Not because I come here often, as until a couple of days ago I'd never stepped foot in here. It's because the owner, Jorge, and his brother are architects of this wonderful version of authentic Mexican food! I knew Jorge from his days of building THE best taco shop in all of the Triad. For those who know and love El Rancho Taqueria in Winston, their success is due solely to Jorge. After missing him for 3-4 years, our paths unexpectedly cross again at Mi Taqueria! The tacos here are as wonderful as they've ever been! The sopes are as authentic and flavorful as they've ever been! What makes his food so good is solely due to his meats and how he marinates them. The obvious passion and love he has for sharing his food with his customers comes forth in his consistency of the food quality! I was so anxious to dive into my sopes that I forgot to take pics for this review. No fear, I'll post some soon on my return visits!

We also got an appetizer of corn ribs because... that stuff is delicious. I appreciate the tea being brought in GIANT glasses, as I was never wanting for a refill. I don't see why more places don't do this, what an easy way to relieve your server of a common service pain point. There was also a birthday party while we were there, and let me tell you, the entire restaurant... lights, music, and all... shifts into party mode when it's time to sing that person a song. Pretty impressive. Anyway, back to the food. We did enjoy the corn ribs, but they were pretty messy and difficult to eat. I have seen some examples at other places where the kernels were easier to get at, or you could even eat the husk part because it was so thin. Also, we would have liked a little more, the ribs did not even really add up to a full large ear of corn. The fajitas for two were really good and a huge portion. Very tender meat and veggies. We would have liked to see more pineapple. The chunks were small and a little sparse on the skillet, so in the end, we didn't get much of that tropical flavor. In the end, it wasn't enough to deduct a star as we had an excellent overall experience. Thanks amigos!

Update for our 2026 annual visit:…read more We ate in this year and the service and ambiance matched the quality of the food we had last year. I have been looking forward to the World Ninja Championships so that I can eat here again and the team did not disappoint. I had the special, chilaquiles supreme and YES! Flank steak butterflied and so tender that I cut through it easily with a butter knife. They make the chips fresh for each order of chilaquiles and you can taste it. Generous amounts of every flavor that went into the meal and I left stuffed! Hands down, my favorite place and I have a feeling we are making a second trip here this year for sure! First impression as you walk in, or look at images of the menu: AUTHENTIC! First impressions when you bite into your food: They nailed the first impression! I had the lingua, tripa, pez, and Pastor tacos. My family had the California burrito, chicken and beef tacos, and the Enchiladas Mexicanos with mole and salsa verde. We also added a side of guac and chips. Guac: thin mixed avocado and perfectly sized chunks mixed in with the tomato and seasonings. An absolute must! The 4 tacos I ate were succulent to say the least. The tripa was thin and crispy, but you could taste the rendered fat in them. It had the texture of perfectly cooked bacon. Al pastor is one of my favorites and this one did not disappoint. Then there was the pez taco that was just the right amount of crispy without being an iota overcooked. At last I ate the lingua taco. It melted in my mouth and I immediately wanted another. I don't even like mole sauce, but I couldn't stop eating the mole enchilada. Aces, hands down. The California burrito was phenomenal and had the perfect amount of each ingredient and a delectable amount of heat and sweet cream sauce. The chicken was obviously hand shredded and had equal amounts of larger chunks of meat and thin pulled pieces to soak up all the flavor in endless nooks and crannies. If you have not been here please do your palate a flavor and stop in. The value far exceeded the price of our meals and we plan on coming here every year when the World Ninia finals rome to town

So we were really impressed with the tables being kept up after the lunch rush and the chairs were comfortable as well. The prices are fair especially with how good the food is. Even our family friend who is notoriously picky was impressed by the food. One downside was that it was difficult to understand the lady behind the counter however we were able to order by pointing to what we wanted. One of the meals we got we aren't sure exactly what it was, as we pointed to something someone else had gotten. Our friend got the chicken quesadilla and she said it was really good. The only thing that was a little disappointing was the guacamole. It was a bit thin and bland. We went based on a recommendation of a coworker who said they had three tacos for $9.99 as part of a meal and they said they were so good and it was a really great value which is why we went there. We definitely weren't disappointed and plan on returning.
