My friend and fellow Yelp Elite Squad Member Lauren M. recommended California Burritos during a recent visit with her in High Point, NC this month. Lauren's opinions on dining come highly recommended, but I did not realize that what she was saying about this eatery was no exaggeration. This place is ridiculously delightful. It has a fun themed atmosphere centered around their efficient counter service. Their prices are justified for the quality of food they serve. They feature a Cali-Mex menu with a range from the familiar to the new and exciting. I ordered a favorite of mine, the Chori-Steak, which had grilled steak and chorizo (Mexican sausage) with queso on top. It was served with yellow rice, guacamole, and 3 tortillas. While you can find this dish in a lot of Mexican restaurants, theirs is superb. My meal was delicious, but my wife's was mind blowing. She ordered their signature dish, the California Burrito. It was stuffed with steak, cheese, Pico de Gallo, guacamole, sour cream, and fries. As much as I love potatoes in many different forms, I thought the fries would be an unnecessary filler. Boy was I wrong! The fries add a well-seasoned flavor and texture to the burrito. I am ordering this for myself the next time I am there. I recommend listening to my friend Lauren M. and trying California Burritos the next time you are in High Point.

California Burrito - comes with salsa and chips - chips were a bit stale

I do love a good burrito, so when I was in the area I decided to try the California Burrito here. It is big, but it is also costly at almost $14. This is an interesting dish, one that originated in San Diego in the 1980's, and soon spread across the country. It is quite different from the burrito that originated in Northern Mexico, especially around the city of Chihuahua before 1900. The dish started with the carne asada burrito and added cheese, guacamole, sour cream, pico, and even seasoned French fries. I found this burrito interesting but it is not one I'd order again, entirely too busy for me, and the texture is all over the place. I did like the restaurant overall, and will return at some point to try some of their other offerings.

So once upon a time I wanted a Burrito. My wife and I drive the treacherous Main Street of High Point. (That a story in and of itself). We arrive and enter the establishment looking forward to some good southwestern flavor. CB's did not disappoint. Chicken burrito bowl for me and fish tacos for the lovely wife. Both were delicious. Chips and salsa were good. Fountain drinks but no sweet or unsweetened teas. Maybe they had it behind the counter but a guy didn't ask. A nicely decorated place with of course great LA (not lower Archdale) and a minor nod to San Diego and San Fran. Give them a try.

The High Point offshoot of a Burlington eatery, California Burritos calls to mind the apex version of a national chain. Like a Chipotle or a Moe's, it offers convenient ordering and lots of customizability. However, its ingredient quality and Californian branding help set it apart. Though its concept is straightforward, California Burritos offers more than its namesake. You can get a burrito with your choice of meat and fillings, but you can also get bowls, tacos, quesadillas, and even carne asada fries. The offerings extend beyond the expected beef/steak/chicken/carnitas to include birria, shrimp, and even crispy fish tacos. My wife and I opted for a carnitas quesadilla and a steak burrito for pickup. I was greeted upon arrival, and my order was ready to go. Though I didn't linger long, I can say that the restaurant seemed bright and clean. The sound of sizzling meat made me feel like I'd made a good decision. Indeed, the food did not disappoint. Both items were generously sized and well put together. I got a good two-thirds of the way through the burrito before it neared collapse. The ingredients tasted fresh. At $11 and $12 (before factoring in a guac upcharge), California Burritos runs a bit higher than its competition, but it's a worthwhile tradeoff for the portion and quality of the food. It probably won't supplant your favorite Mexican spot, but as fast casual options go, you really couldn't ask for better.

Hands down a great place for a quick bite! Came here on a Monday when nothing else was open and decided to try it. I ordered a salad with grilled chicken. It was delicious and not too salty as the usual tex mex places. Your meal also comes with a side of chips and salsa. The chips are perfectly fried and not greasy. They also have the right amount of salt. All of the ingredients are fresh. One of the things I like most, is that they have four different types of pico de gallo. One mixed with mango, another with pineapple, cucumber, and then regular. I've only tried the mango and I loved it! My husband got the quesabirria! By far authentic birria. So good! We have actually been there twice before I decided to review it. The second time I got the California burrito, which is huge but tasty. The service is impeccable and the restaurant itself is very clean, including the bathrooms. We will definitely be back for more! Highly recommended!

Just stopped in for lunch with a coworker. My second visit, his first. Got there before the lunch rush and received a friendly greeting from the staff when we walked in. I went with a chicken burrito on this visit, very tasty, and a great portion to feel full, but not over stuffed. They over a decent spread of toppings, from meat options to salsa options, sour cream, guacamole, chipotle ranch, onions, peppers, and more. We opted to dine in, with plenty of seating, it's a very casual feel on the inside. Lunch was fantastic and comes with chips and a cup of salsa. All around this is a great burrito spot, reasonable price, and convenient location right near Main Street. I'll be back!

This was our first time and it won't be our last. Very fresh ingredients, generous servings, and delicious food. The chicken was tender and tasty. Great service and clean!

Get your tacos!!!! Located right behind Biscuit Factory, your next Taco Tuesday should be here! I got the shrimp nachos. My shrimp was freshly grilled after placing my order, which I liked. Plenty of topped to choose from. My son got the three steak tacos and said they were great. My nachos were good too and they had Horchata! I love horchata! It's was great. Plenty of seating inside and a couple of tables outside too. Service was quick and correct.

    Sanitation grade, 99.0!

We've been eyeing the new California Burritos, in High Point, since they opened three weeks ago. We decided to give them a try today and we're glad we did. We walked in and the first thing I look for is how clean the place looks and that sanitation grade. They have a 99.0! We were instantly greeted by their friendly staff. I like that you can see the ingredients from behind the glass, where you order, and you can also see them preparing your food. My husband tried the California burrito with fries inside. The burrito was huge, and he ate every last bite. I had my burrito in a bowl, with chicken, rice, and beans and all the toppings I wanted. Chips and salsa on the side. They have a kids menu, as well. Our son had the beef and cheese taco, which comes with rice, beans, and chips & salsa on the side. Great size portions with the right prices. We will definitely be back to support their business and to fill our bellies. Go check them out! Located right behind Biscuit Factory in HP.

This place is "fast" food at its finest! Immediately greeted by a clean environment and friendly staff. Menu is easy to follow and order like chipotle. Portions are huge & taste fresh. Pricing is competitive. Overall, very pleased & excited to return. Chips and salsa were awesome!

I came across this spot while in search of something similar to chipotle but something with a little more flavor. The restaurant is clean, ingredients seemed fresh, and the quality of the meat was way better than I expected. Cost wise it seemed normal, around $11.50. Came with a small bag of chips ( a little stale but not horrible). Tasty food, a step up from chipotle, not quite taqueria style but if you are looking for a quick and semi healthy Mexican place this might be your spot.

We also got an appetizer of corn ribs because... that stuff is delicious. I appreciate the tea being brought in GIANT glasses, as I was never wanting for a refill. I don't see why more places don't do this, what an easy way to relieve your server of a common service pain point. There was also a birthday party while we were there, and let me tell you, the entire restaurant... lights, music, and all... shifts into party mode when it's time to sing that person a song. Pretty impressive. Anyway, back to the food. We did enjoy the corn ribs, but they were pretty messy and difficult to eat. I have seen some examples at other places where the kernels were easier to get at, or you could even eat the husk part because it was so thin. Also, we would have liked a little more, the ribs did not even really add up to a full large ear of corn. The fajitas for two were really good and a huge portion. Very tender meat and veggies. We would have liked to see more pineapple. The chunks were small and a little sparse on the skillet, so in the end, we didn't get much of that tropical flavor. In the end, it wasn't enough to deduct a star as we had an excellent overall experience. Thanks amigos!

Update for our 2026 annual visit:…read more We ate in this year and the service and ambiance matched the quality of the food we had last year. I have been looking forward to the World Ninja Championships so that I can eat here again and the team did not disappoint. I had the special, chilaquiles supreme and YES! Flank steak butterflied and so tender that I cut through it easily with a butter knife. They make the chips fresh for each order of chilaquiles and you can taste it. Generous amounts of every flavor that went into the meal and I left stuffed! Hands down, my favorite place and I have a feeling we are making a second trip here this year for sure! First impression as you walk in, or look at images of the menu: AUTHENTIC! First impressions when you bite into your food: They nailed the first impression! I had the lingua, tripa, pez, and Pastor tacos. My family had the California burrito, chicken and beef tacos, and the Enchiladas Mexicanos with mole and salsa verde. We also added a side of guac and chips. Guac: thin mixed avocado and perfectly sized chunks mixed in with the tomato and seasonings. An absolute must! The 4 tacos I ate were succulent to say the least. The tripa was thin and crispy, but you could taste the rendered fat in them. It had the texture of perfectly cooked bacon. Al pastor is one of my favorites and this one did not disappoint. Then there was the pez taco that was just the right amount of crispy without being an iota overcooked. At last I ate the lingua taco. It melted in my mouth and I immediately wanted another. I don't even like mole sauce, but I couldn't stop eating the mole enchilada. Aces, hands down. The California burrito was phenomenal and had the perfect amount of each ingredient and a delectable amount of heat and sweet cream sauce. The chicken was obviously hand shredded and had equal amounts of larger chunks of meat and thin pulled pieces to soak up all the flavor in endless nooks and crannies. If you have not been here please do your palate a flavor and stop in. The value far exceeded the price of our meals and we plan on coming here every year when the World Ninia finals rome to town

I called the restaurant the next day because I've had this happen to me before, although with this place, I ordered through GrubHub so I wasn't able to ask questions, but you assume when something is listed as vegetarian that it actually is. Anyway, the refried beans are sometimes fried and vegetable oil, sometimes fried and lard. The day that I ordered mine, well all week they had been fried and lard which makes them not vegetarian. When you stop consuming those types of animal byproducts your stomach doesn't know how to digest them so I had this food and my body immediately was like what's going on and sure enough trying to reject it.
