I've been in Florida for four years with my family away from Texas and we haven't had taco Casa in about 15 months. It's ever bit as amazing as it was before. I've stopped through to get a bean and cheese burrito on the way home hold me over. Before I open it I looked at my receipt and they gave me a beef burrito. I don't eat hamburger burritos never liked them. Luckily I was going to eat in the parking lot and was able to pull around and tell him to remake it. Well when they did it was still just cold and bland. It was beans and cheese like I wanted but no flavor. And their sauce has vinegar which I don't like. Guess I'm not a Taco casa person. I'll take it home and see if I can make it edible. They said they credit my card the $2 difference rather than give me my money in cash so we'll see if they do. Could be those darn speakers!! This is strictly a review of the crunchy beef Taco. Taco Casa is a Texas Restaurant company with locations throughout the state. I would say they are competitors of the typical national chains like Taco Bell and Taco Bueno among others. Usually, they only have a single location in an area so a lot of people don't know about them. I would say that if you stick with just the crunchy taco you will be happy. Every time I check out at the grocery store, the flip side of my receipt has a Free Taco coupon from Taco Casa. So I kept it thinking Ill stop by and try it someday. That day was today. Looking at the coupon I notice it had expired(insert mysterious creepy horror film music).! I had an idea what was going to happen when I went inside to claim my Free Crispy Beef Taco. You got it they were going to say, "this has Expired" They did but I ask,?do you want a new customer who comes here to get your tacos or do you want to send me away empty-handed"? The Young man looked perplexed like Oh that makes sense! I got my free taco and they are better crunchy beef tacos than Taco Bell by a long shot. I discovered Taco Casa during the last couple of years. The discovery took place on my trips from Dallas to New Mexico. In fact, I've grown to look forward to stopping at Taco Casa on my trips. I'm a vegetarian and order the bean burritos each time. Thumbs up on the hot sauce! Fortunately, there are a couple of locations in Dallas and though on the other side of town I do make a pilgrimage. I'm a Taco Casa fan. The food is simple, but fresh and served up hot. I generally stick with a been burrito, soft taco, or chilada (large beef enchilada). Steer clear of nachos unless you're a fan of tin can nacho cheese sauce. Taco Casa, in my opinion, is miles better than the ubiquitous Taco Bell - better quality ingredients and fresher tastes. Great fast food tex-mex! I've tried avoiding fast food restaurants but I couldn't resist after reading the great reviews. This place is minutes from campus and I'm glad I stopped by! The ingredients were FRESH... from the ground beef, crispy green lettuce, diced and non soggy tomatoes and finely shredded cheddar. I tried the chilada which was very flavorful especially with their hot sauce. The portion sizes are more than filling. I over did it ordering both a chilada and a taco and was stuffffed. For the third time in about a month the Maplewood location in Wichita Falls has either shorted my hot sauce packet request, once, or failed to put any at all in my order, twice now. Last week I dropped almost $40 on an order, only to get home and find no hot sauce packs. I contacted the store and spoke to the Manager on duty who was rude, didn't offer to address the issue or even offer an apology. I was given a number for the franchise owner and left a message, but received no response. I even messaged the company through their official website, but after a week no response either. VERY disappointing and inexcusable. I will take my business to Taco Cabana next time who has a fresh salsa bar and doesn't bend you over and screw you on your order! We love going to this place over the Taco Cabana that is right next to it for a couple reasons. 1) you get more for your money and I really think the tacos fast fantastic. but most importantly 2) they hire employees that know what is on the menu. Love this place! Had Taco Casa for the first time last night and couldn't be happier. One of my biggest pet peeves is how skimpy taco joints are with their cheese. Not a problem with Taco Casa, they load the beef, lettuce and cheese on. It's a basic menu with basic fresh ingredients and done well. You just cant go wrong with the crunchy tacos and combo burrito. And the hot sauce is a perfect compliment to the food. Please don't try to compare this place to the likes of Taco Bell and Taco Bueno, they just aren't in the same category. I am seeing a lot of future trips to Taco Casa! Growing up near Arcadia, CA we had a place just like this called Taco Lita, same ingredients, same taste, similar menu and even the same orange and yellow color scheme. It's a bit of a local landmark there. Really wondering if there is some connection between Taco Casa and Taco Lita, the similarities are uncanny. The only difference is the sauce. Almost the same flavor but Taco Casa's definitely has more kick to it which I enjoyed. When they say don't judge a book by its cover, they were referring to Taco Casa. The outside of this location looks incredibly shady, but once you reach inside comfort sets in and all is well. Some of the reviews on yelp mentioned how it's a step above Taco Bell, but that can be debatable. Some Taco Bell locations are just poorly managed, while others consistently deliver quality food. I can easily say the Taco Bell on X street is way better than the Taco Bell on Y street. Catch my drift? Anyways, Taco Casa is definitely better than Del Taco and Taco Cabana. They give out generous portions of toppings, and the taco shells are very crunchy. My only gripe is the meat mixture is not very flavorful. Hot sauce must be added. They only offer 1 type of hot sauce for your taco's and it's quite inferior compared to other places, but I'm not going to drop a star based on condiments.
