This place was creative and fun filled with lots of different colors! All the decorations were very eye catching! The food was good , and the chicken inside the taco was very tender, juicy and full of flavors. But, the wait for the food was more than an hour and one of the orders they didn't get right. Taco bout it was also tucked behind a sushi bar place so if you didn't see the sign, you wouldn't have known it was there. First, let me say that I really don't like to give negative reviews especially at this time. But I have to make our experience there today public so you can't say you weren't warned. Based on the reviews, we stopped at this tiny shop on our way to the aquarium for a quick lunch. It disappointed on almost every level. There was one other occupied table with 2 people. It took over 10 minutes for the cook behind the order counter to acknowledge me. He said he had a big order (which he did) and we would have to wait. After 20 minutes he finally took our order (one fajita and 5 tacos). Then we waited and waited. We noticed someone else who came in after us get his food before us. Finally 20 minutes later we got our food. And while it wasn't bad, it was just OK and certainly not worth waiting nearly an hour to get. The shop is dingy, freezing cold and dirty. My grandson ran his finger along the wall and it was black. And our food with 3 drinks from the refrigerator came to over $50 so it certainly isn't a low cost meal. So disappointed. read more

Great fun place with outstanding Tacos, Burrito and Guacamole. Chicki the chef brings the taste of his childhood to Riverhead. Everything is prepared from scratch to order unlike some chain 'Mexican' restaurants that have it made at some factory and then have it shipped to their location where it's heated and served. Definitely something to "taco bout"... This little place is absolutely nuts.. what a find!!!! If your looking for it and aren't seeing it along the main road, don't fret, its in the parking lot being the main strip. The staff is warm and friendly, very courteous and happy to assist with any questions. We stayed and ate there because the atmosphere was really great. The food was AMAZING.. for a starter we tried the calamari which was fantastic.. Then I had the chimichanga and my fincee had chicken soft tacos.. The chimichanga is a full sized burrito, fried... I'll say that again for you. A FULL SIZED BURRITO FRIED!!!! I can probably stop this review right now and this place will have a mobbed parking lot by next week. But that's not all.. The steak chimichanga I had was unbelievable. So crisp and perfect on the outside, AMAZING goodness on the inside.. The chips it comes with are hand made and house cooked. Also amzing.. I had my face buried so far into my meal I didn't even think to try the tacos.. But my fiancee said they were so good that she wants to come back in the next few days for more.. Stopped here with my kids going between the North Fork and New York City. We wanted something better than the usual fast food or diner, and we saw it had good reviews. It was fantastic. The service was friendly and the tacos were amazing. And my young kid who doesn't like Mexican ordered the chicken fingers, which were also unusually good. We will go back! read more

I LOVE this place!!!! Best Mexican food on the island!! It's the freshest ingredients, each meat is marinated differently which is nice (compared to many places that each thing tastes the same ). Thank you to one of my local spots to deny my take out order because they were "too busy" which gave me to courage to try Taco Bout It. It's definitely difficult opening a restaurant if the same nature in the same place of a failed restaurant, but Taco Bout It is definitely not a reboot. It is a stand alone, one of a kind to the area and much welcomed. The dining room has been cleaned completely redone ... warm and welcoming. The food is phenomenal. You can tell everything is made fresh on premises daily. The portions are huge and the price very modest for what you are getting. I will definitely be eating here from now on. read more

Yet another gem on main street in Riverhead! Just the outside itself is pretty and colorful with music playing, which is all really impressive because they made a bleh alleyway into a colorful outdoor dining area! The decor is truly beautiful, and very uplifting on a dreary day. They put the perfect amount of beans and rice on their veggie tacos too! You get the textures and tastes but they somehow always find a way to fit all the toppings in comfortably. The shells and chips are thin, crispy and flavorful, definitely the best I've had on LI! And the guac is some of the best I've had out! The employees are extremely polite too, always a good thing. I haven't been there too many times, but every experience I've had has been great! It's March now (and a really nasty one at that,) but I'm so excited for when it gets nice enough to eat in their outdoor area! Either way I'll be back soon for more! read more

Ok, I live in Riverhead and didn't even know this place existed. I was searching for an animated short on YouTube called Taco Bout It....about 2 Nacho chips. Its cute. Look it up! Anyway....lo and behold I discover a restaurant by the same name in my town! Stop in, get a menu....looks good. The restaurant is a little tricky to find. It is not on main street. It is behind another restaurant in the parking lot. Well worth the trip. Went for a bite to eat before seeing a show at the Suffolk Theater. Its a take out joint with seating if you prefer to eat in. Both hubby and I had enchiladas. Delicious! Ample portions at a reasonable price, relaxed colorful vibe, super friendly service. Would definitely recommend and will return. Cash only. At the time they did not have alcoholic beverages but supposedly that is coming soon. read more

This place was recommended by my daughters doctor. It just opened, and it was hard to find. It's located behind the sushi restaurant on Main Street in Riverhead. It is a quaint place with a cool vibe and relaxed atmosphere. There are several colorful tables and amazing decor. There is also takeout. The owners are super friendly and down to earth. They are suggestive in what to order and very accommodating. We have been on the hunt for good quality, authentic Mexican food for awhile. This place did not disappoint. We had the nachos which were amazing and some chicken soft tacos that were a favorite with my picky daughter. We also shared the mixed grill chicki plate, and oh my heavens.....I was at a loss for words. This dish is definitely a must try. I can't say enough good things about this great find! I'm hoping they add this restaurant to yelp, as I had to add it because it is so new. I hope my review gets posted because you will not be disappointed once you've tasted the food. You definitely have to check it out. They give you big portions and the prices are reasonable. The have a unique assortment of beverages, although wine and beer are on the way. This place is awesome!!! The chimichangas are the best and the staff was so helpful. It's my new favorite taco spot in Suffolk County.

Me & my girlfriend kept hearing about this spot (she's from L.I. im from NJ) and we love mexican food so we thought to try it after reading such great reviews and it was definitely worth every penny! Their prices aren't bad at all especially given the amount of food they give you. We only waited maybe 10-15 minutes at the most for the food to come out and we both were satisfied. I had the Chorizo Burrito with guac and it was huge. Im use to places giving you half the size of what i had, I couldn't even finish it even though i wanted to. Chips come as a side and i basically finished those with their Chipotle Salsa that was also amazing. My girlfriend had the cheese and beans quesadilla that was full of perfectly melted cheese that she enjoyed tremendously. Great service, great prices, great food! I went in to pick up my order and while I stood at the counter waiting to be helped, the worker behind the counter had her back to me because she was packing up food orders.
