It did seem to be a little heftier than I remembered the old Enchirito to be. Was it good? Oh, hell yeah! Called a Chilada here at Taco Casa. Not to be confused with a Chelada. An ice cold Cheleda would really go well with the Taco Casa Chilada. Get the Chilada to go, then swing by QT and pick up a Cheleda on the way home. The tostado, a big crunchy tostado shell overloaded with frijoles, and smothered with fresh lettuce and cheese. Pick it up and eat it like a slice of toast that is covered with peanut butter and jelly. It is a balancing act to keep that hay stack of lettuce and cheese on the tostado while you eat it. Check the pictures. My complaint, those little sauce packets. I have to have a double hand full of them to bring the heat levels up on the food. They are a frustrating challenge to open. Especially 25 of them, when you are hungry and only have 30 minutes for lunch. Bring scissors. Fair prices, fast service, respectable portions, fast food shop ambiance. On this visit I ordered the Birria Tacos with rice and beans. Plus added a side of guacamole and chips. The great thing about Catrina's is the fresh salsa bar that has mild tomatillo, medium and hot salsas, cilantro and onions, plus veggie relish. All of which is super fresh and tasty! The veggie relish is my fav at on the salsa bar!! Service was quick, hot and correct. I wouldn't say that Catrina's is fast food but as quick as they get your order to you, one could consider it fast food. It's rare these days when it comes to fast food to get what you ordered correctly and in this case super good!! The birria tacos were just slightly crispy on the outside with marinated meat, onions, cilantro and melted cheese inside. The birria broth had bold flavors and was great to dip your tacos in. The rice and beans were not overcooked, both rather moist and just right mix of spice and flavor. The fresh guacamole was excellent and really stood out. Definitely one of my new favorites places to order guac. The inside of some of these locations are small but with the type of quick service patrons receive there are usually plenty of places to sit and enjoy your meal. This location also had outdoor seating which will be nice on warm, sunny days. Overall Catrina's is a WAY better choice over many of the fast food chain Mexican restaurants and honestly rival some well established restaurants in town. GO CHECK THEM OUT! You won't be disappointed.

I get a craving for nachos every now and then, so I ordered the Calaca Steak Nachos which has chopped beef, sour cream, pico de gallo, and queso. They packaged all the ingredients separately, so the chips didn't arrive, soggy, which I appreciated. Once I put everything together, the nachos hit the spot. The portion was generous, and there was plenty of cheese and chopped beef to make every bite satisfying. I also ordered a side of medium salsa to go over the chips. It definitely has a kick, but it had a slightly bitter aftertaste that wasn't my favorite. For dessert, I couldn't resist the Tres Leches Cake, which is one of my all-time favorites. The slice was big and looked amazing. The cake itself was a little dense, so the top layer didn't absorb the milk the way I usually expect, but it was still delicious and I enjoyed every bite of it.

I'm a "tip 20% even if they took an hour to give me my food and never refilled my drink" kind of person. However, on their menu they say their meals come with a 20oz drink which is traditionally a "medium" at fast food places, obviously not here, which like, I guess that's on me for assuming. Anyway. I ordered my food as a "number one with a medium Pepsi." I was handed a 32oz drink, and when I asked the girl at the window " this is a medium?" she nodded her head and said "yes!" with a smile. When I was handed my receipt, I saw an up charge for a large drink and fry. When I asked the girl at the window about it she said "you said a medium" so I asked why I was charged for a large? She said " we don't have mediums, we only have large or small." So I asked why no one said anything when I ordered and she just rolled her eyes at me and when I tried to ask for a refund, she closed the window in my face. And like, no $1.10 isn't a big deal, it being lied to about my order and then talked to like I'm the one in the wrong, IS.
