We tried a variety of tacos- pastor, asada, chicken..We had the street tacos and super tacos. We also tried the enchiladas with red sauce. Cute little corner spot! The restaurant was clean, and the service was friendly…read more We ordered the steak burrito, and the quality of the steak was really good. There was also a generous amount of steak, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the burrito was very dry. I honestly didn't taste any sour cream, maybe they forgot. I think if they added sour cream or something to make it a little creamier, it could be a really great burrito. The steak itself was definitely the highlight. The salsa could also be improved. I didn't see a salsa bar, and the burrito didn't come with chips or salsa. I had to ask for salsa, which I found a little unusual considering the prices. Overall, friendly service, clean and cute little place, and really good-quality steak. The burrito just needs more moisture and flavor to take it to the next level.

Since every state in Mexico cooks staples differently we were curious to try Oaxacan Cuisine. The restaurant feels like a restaurant in Mexico, we sat in the second back room and we felt like we were transported to a restaurant town in Mexico. The server was great, nice and friendly and the food was amazing! I ordered their Oaxacan Style Ceviche and it was so good! It came out in a molcajete style plate, and it looked small, however it wasn't, the portion was generous! Our family member ordered the pozole and they shared it was also delicious. (We didn't try it because we don't eat poultry but it smelled so good). Overall great stop, and we will be stopping by when we're back in the Rocklin area.

Fish tacos so goooood! [Rocklin CA]…read more So happy that my friend, Belinda, suggested this place when I mentioned that I was craving fish tacos. I ordered from their Mezcalito Specials menu (green) and chose the Baja Fish Tacos ($18). I like the part that it came with rice and black beans. It included two fish tacos. Since I couldn't decide between grilled or fried I got one of each. The fish were beer battered with cabbage, mango, pico, avocado | opted out of the cilantro and onion | Chipotle Aioli on the side just in case I found it too spicy for my taste. It turned out that it added to wonderful flavors on the tacos. Unfortunately, the chips and salsa was not complimentary. Purchase separately. The servers were friendly and welcoming and it made for a pleasant first time experience! There are two dining sections so don't fret when you see the dining area full as you enter the restaurant. There is also a picnic bench under covered roof outside patio dining. You won't be disappointed! No wonder they are at almost perfect 5-stars in Yelp. Instagram: @mezcalitorocklin Review #4055

The restaurant itself is spacious with plenty of room to sit down and eat, although we got ours to go. Great food, generous portions, and great value. We'll definitely be back!

Great food and quick service!…read more The food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious! Everything tasted fresh, and I loved the salsa bar with so many options to choose from. The staff was super friendly, and the service was fast and welcoming. The only downside was the lemonade, which tasted more like tap water than lemonade. Other than that, everything was great! Definitely a good spot for tacos in Sacramento.

I ordered the enchilada platter with shredded chicken. The enchilada was definitely the highlight for me--it was very tasty! The rice was okay, and the beans were a little plain and could have used a little more flavor. We were given several different salsas and condiments to try. I would have loved to see a mild salsa option, but the pico de gallo was really good! My husband ordered the taco platter. He enjoyed the tacos but felt they could have been a little fuller, as there wasn't a lot of meat inside. The way the taco shells were prepared also made it difficult to open them up and add extra toppings while eating. It would be nice to be able to add more lettuce, salsa, or even some of the rice and beans as you go. Overall, we're glad we stopped in and gave it a try! There were definitely some things we enjoyed, especially the atmosphere, friendly staff, and the enchilada. With a few little changes to the tacos and adding a bit more flavor to the sides, I think this place could really shine. For the food, I'd give it 3 stars, but we enjoyed our visit and were happy we tried something new! So I changed my rating from 3 to 4 because my daughter who went with us and son-in-law they really enjoyed their meal very much so I will give them four stars for them enjoying the experience a little more than we did.

Chips were slightly better than what I've had at the chips and salsa bars around here, and the salsa is much better than average. Good flavor and the spice levels are more accurate (spicy actually has a good kick). The mix breakfast burrito (bacon, chorizo, eggs, cheese, potato) is huge and has a decent ratio of meat/eggs/potato. The cheese was melty which is always good. When I occasionally indulge on a breakfast burrito I usually drive a bit out of my way from west Roseville to come here.

A Friday Night Home Run at Penryn Grill!…read more This was our third visit to Penryn Grill, and someone suggested we come back on a Friday night for the clam chowder and fish & chips. Let me just say...it was absolutely worth the return trip! First, the clam chowder. My wife gave it a 10 out of 10, and that's saying something because she's a self-proclaimed clam chowder snob. She rarely finds a chowder that can compete with her favorite spots in Monterey. Well...hallelujah--we finally found one! The bread bowl deserves its own standing ovation. It tasted like fresh sourdough that had just come out of the oven--crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and absolutely delicious. Normally you finish the chowder and leave most of the bread behind. Not this time. I ate every single bite of that bread bowl. It was simply scrumptious. The fish and chips were equally impressive. They served a huge plank of fish that was lightly battered and cooked perfectly. Too many restaurants hide a tiny piece of fish under a mountain of batter, leaving you feeling disappointed (and overly full). Not Penryn Grill. The fish was fresh, flaky, and outstanding. In fact, it was the first time in our 43 years of marriage that I've seen my wife finish every bite of her fish and chips! The chips were another pleasant surprise. Instead of the usual thick fries, they were thinly shaved, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely addictive. We'd never had them prepared that way before, and they were a home run. Of course, I couldn't leave without ordering what I consider Penryn Grill's signature dish--the shrimp tacos. They are hands down the best around. Perfectly seasoned, loaded with flavor, and honestly worthy of ordering every single visit. The atmosphere was terrific. We loved the live '80s music, the service was fantastic as always, and our waitress graciously endured my terrible jokes with a smile. That's five-star service in my book. As retirees, we're always on the hunt for a place that serves a great meal at a great value, and Penryn Grill checks every box. One tip: If you're planning to go on a Friday for the chowder and fish & chips, arrive between 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. They regularly sell out--and after this meal, it's easy to understand why. We'll definitely be back...again!

The menu 1.50 per churro- was charged almost 6 dollars. Not a big deal - since we were going to sit down to eat and we again wanted to support locally. My little sister decided to grab a plate of chips from the open chip n salsa bar. The older gentleman who was working decided to ambush her in the middle of serving herself what couldn't have been more than 12 chips on a little tray... he was upset she grabbed them. she explained she misunderstood the bar but we would be paying for them because we had no idea. The man kept being upset rude and almost yelling at us. I ran to pay for the chips as we waited for our churros. I was concerned for his tone and why he was so angry- I asked him if he was okay- he then returned the question to me as if I was being rude. I was so grossed out by this entire interaction I had my sister leave her chips on the table and walked out. This man was not happy to serve us and honestly the entire interaction was so bad.
