Fast service, clean, busy at lunchtime, and tasty! Usually the condiment bar is full of great stuff

Yesterday my sisters and I went on a walk and decided to go support local for a sweet treat. It was later in the day we noticed this restaurant was empty so we walked in ordered a couple things to our surprise the flan and pie was not available so we ordered churros. The menu 1.50 per churro- was charged almost 6 dollars. Not a big deal - since we were going to sit down to eat and we again wanted to support locally. My little sister decided to grab a plate of chips from the open chip n salsa bar. The older gentleman who was working decided to ambush her in the middle of serving herself what couldn't have been more than 12 chips on a little tray... he was upset she grabbed them. she explained she misunderstood the bar but we would be paying for them because we had no idea. The man kept being upset rude and almost yelling at us. I ran to pay for the chips as we waited for our churros. I was concerned for his tone and why he was so angry- I asked him if he was okay- he then returned the question to me as if I was being rude. I was so grossed out by this entire interaction I had my sister leave her chips on the table and walked out. This man was not happy to serve us and honestly the entire interaction was so bad. I called today to speak with someone surprise surprise the man is the manager. I am Mexican-American and this is not how we treat people it was baffling and I understand bad days that's why I walked away but truly take your business somewhere else. My receipt is posted below for churros I didn't not eat. Then Chips we were charged for 100% not bothered by the charge it was everything to do with how he treated my family. read more

Wish I could give negative stars for the horrible smell inside and the horrendous customer service. I'm not sure how the food was because I didn't even get the opportunity to try it and I don't regret that I saw that this restaurant was empty. I was at a nearby car lot and decided to stop for a quick bite when I came in it took over five minutes for someone to come out of the back of the restaurant to greet me and take my order as I was looking over the menu. I was being rushed by what appeared to be the owner or manager, I'm not sure what the rush was for because as previously stated there was no one there. It almost looked like an abandoned restaurant once I decided that I didn't feel too confident in ordering a whole meal. I just ordered two tacos and the manager that was assisting me, rudely replied is that all you want?? his attitude was horrible. I'm not sure why he would think it's a good idea to treat potential patrons that way, but I immediately walked out without completing an order and I will never return here. I hope that someone sees this review and decides to do better by potential customers. The guy that I am mentioning had glasses and was an older man. Stopped here for a burrito on my drive back to the bay. Ordered a grilled chicken super burrito and the chicken was so flavorful! No gristle to be found. Great flavor. Highly recommend! The salsa at the salsa bar was soooo yummy. There was a spicy option that was actually spicy. Very good. Then the milder one was delicious tasted kind of Smokey. Free chips were good. Food was ready fast. I order take out. I will be back here again! So yummy! read more

Ordered a chimichanga..steak ..the guy wasnt very pleasant on the counter while taking the order ..food no flavor at all too much rice n beans . ..the steak was dry n too mcuh salt ......didnt dine in but was empty in the evening on a Wed evening..salsa bar did not have great salsa ..will.not go there again read more

Which just went to this place Taqueria across from Sierra College my goodness this place is the worst when you walk in it in the oven and we ordered the Cabo bowl it was very salty the meat very dry. We also ordered three crispy tacos. The meat was very dry. I'm sorry about the food was awful and the guy that take your order is very rude. No manners. It's like you're going to eat in the oven, please do not go there. You'll be sorry. read more

One man show on a Saturday but once he figured out we were there he quickly took our order and prepared it. They only had soft drinks and beer so I couldn't get my horchata fix. The salsa bar had a delicious Jalapeno Crema dip that was out of this world. Here's our ratings of the tacos: Pollo Asada - 6- Pretty decent but a bit bland Al Pastor - 8 - Good flavor Carne Asada - 4 - No flavor and almost mushy. Terrible... I went here 3 times in a row once at 730 once at 700 and once at 630 and they told me they were closed early every time extremely rudely. Terrible service and average food. This place would be out of business if it weren't for the college. DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!! read more

4th Time's a Charm? 8/30/22 The first time I went I wanted fish tacos but I was told that they didn't have any seafood products at the time. Bummer! I opted for a regular burrito (beef). It was okay. I should've gotten the Super Burrito which came with Guac, sour cream and the works. 9/14/22 was the second time I visited and I got the crispy tacos daily special ($1 extra for beef). The tacos came with rice and beans and a free drink from the vending machine. Good deal... the food was a little salty but, otherwise, good! 10/17/22 I came back to try their chicken version of the crispy tacos daily special. I must admit that I liked the beef tacos better than the chicken. Just my preference. Just okay for me. 10/27/22 brought the hubby with me and we shared a Super Burrito Asada with rice, beans, salsa, Guac, sour cream, cheese, and pico de gallo. More than enough for me and the hubby. Good stuff but both of us thought that the food was salty. On all occasion the food was served fast. The owner did everything... he took our order at the counter, he was the cook and was also the server. Dine-in experience during all visits. The restaurant had indoor and patio seating. The large bay windows made it bright inside. All my visits were during lunch time. There was one evening we came for dinner a little after 7:00p... there was no one inside the restaurant and was dim inside. Stopped by with my husky for lunch as was not disappointed. I ordered a super burrito al pastor and it was excellent. Not too much salt like many Mexican restaurants do. Plenty of outside seating and dogs are welcome. Chips and salsa bar were also excellent. Service friendly and fast. Ambiance was good, modern Mexican style and clean. Lots of parking. Outside seating is next to a street but not busy so noise is not a problem. Prices are good, not expensive like many are today. I have marked it down for the next trip down the hill to the Costco/Winco area. read more

The bald guy in the front was incredibly rude and the place was empty. It was like he was mad at us for being there ava kept correcting my pronunciation and being very difficult.... wee got 30 dollars wOrth of garbage I wouldn't even feed a stray dog... Very flavorful, nice portion size, family friendly environment in the restaurant. I had the bowl and hubby had the street tacos. Both were fantastic! I was only able to eat half of the bowl because it was so much food. It is obvious from the flavors that the Chile Verde in my bowl as been prepared over time to allow the flavors to come through. This was a good experience. The place is clean, the service is friendly. I got three Carne Asada tacos, a Carnitas taco, an Al Pastore taco, and a Pollo. Tacos come with a lot of meat, which is great, because I like to clean it up with some chips afterward. The chips are free, the salsa is free, and that is always a big plus for me. Carne Asada---Excellent. Exactly what you want in your Carne Asada. Moist meat, great flavor, got that grill flavor. A winner. Carnitas---Again excellent, perfect flavoring, crispy yet moist. Squeeze some lime on. Winner. Pollo---again, exactly what you want in your Pollo taco. Winner Al Pastor---this is one of those meat dishes that seems to me is the one dish open to interpretation more than any other. To me, the best I've ever had, is from Los Pericos in Hayward. It leans toward a more robust flavor with a hint of pineapple. This one tends to be less barbecue, and has a very unique flavor. I would imagine this is a dish that one must try to know if they're gonna like or not. I liked it because I like different stuff, if I could give it any description at all, I would say it leans toward the pineapple side, more than the barbecue side. Still good, winner for me. You'll have to decide for you. We were traveling, so we had our dogs, and they have an outdoor patio. If you're heading to Reno, it's one of the last exits you can get off and get some decent food for the next couple hours. This place is a mile off the exit. Easy on and off. read more

Agree with other reviewers,, the host makes you feel like you being there is an inconvenience. I was visiting town and was craving a wet burrito to just searched for Mexican restaurants and was actually on my way to another place when I run into this one and seemed appealing so thought I'd give it a try instead of driving another 10 minutes. Well, I should've kept going. Service not the best, rushed to get me out of there and when I finally got to my hotel room, disappointment. Meat was super salty (hard to eat without having a big gulp of soda after every bite), guac not fresh, and flavor nothing special. Hoping to find a better place in town. read more

Sadly disappointed at the downwards spiral of this place :( moved over here in Nov with my family - first time was good... BUT last few times we went the decrease of what food is available & quality is just insane! Last time we ate here he told us he was only making 2 items that day and nothing else... ON A SATURDAY! And the food was ICE COLD!!!! I'm so sad because I really loved your food when we went the first time... just seems like the owner doesn't care if this place just shuts down. We basically spent $75 for 6 terrible burritos!!! What a joke. Also made us spent extra for regular burritos without rice or beans. Glorified Jimboy's at best. I really loved the chips and the water. My lady and I came here and got a chili verde crispy taco, and a chicken crispy taco with a side of retried beans. I didn't even bother eating my tortilla because it was soggy (we ate there, so traveling with it In styrofoam wasn't the issue). The lady's chicken had a pool of grease that provided a great marinade. They were both really bad. The beans were overcooked and had sat there all day at least. They came with an old bean crust for the garnish. Won't be back, ever. Hope we don't get sick. read more

Either the crispy tacos or the taco salad you can't go wrong. Even the kids bean and cheese burrito is outstanding!!

The food is authentic and delicious! The prices have increased over the last few years, but that's Biden's fault. The owner runs a one person operation - cooking and working the register so be patient if you call and he doesn't answer. The tacos are loaded with huge portions of meat! read more

Groupon is awesome for this location. Google states they are open on Sunday's and they are NOT. We finally got to visit on a Saturday and it was needless to say all right. Super weird place. You just order your food at the register and then they bring it to you. They have a chips and salsa bar. EVERYTHING is super SPICEY. Food was not bad; however, super SALTY. Only reason we are going back is because we have two more groupons to use since they give it to you as 4 pack. read more

Every time I have gone in this place the guy who works the front is a total jerk. Considering there is never anyone in the place, you'd think he would be happy to have a customer, but he treats me like I'm some major inconvenience. He speaks rudely to me, is condescending, and is argumentative if I ask for something. Never going back. read more

We were in town for a wedding at the Chalet near by and we were pleasantly surprised by this place. The business park looks pretty much abandoned but this place is still standing and now I see why. Had the chicken taco plate and it was very refreshing to have Mexican style food taste this good in the area. The meat has flavor! I see reviews saying the owner is rude, but I beg to differ. I have called on two separate occasions and each time the person who answers the phone sounds confused about their own menu. I totally love the food here. I first stopped here during the great COVID Panic and saw the signs saying they were open. I have been supporting all the small businesses that are trying to service during these times. They are located across the street fro Sierra College so with the school closed they are challenged. I have been back here 6 times in 3 weeks. I absolutely love everything from the Chimichangas to the tacos to the nachos. I have not had a bad meal here yet. I love the al Pastor, it's my favorite. First time here and overall very impressed with both the service and the food. I got the two tacos meal with rice, beans, and a soda. I expected the beans to be refried, they ended up being whole pinto beans, but they were full of flavor and much better than I had anticipated. The portions were a good size, I left full and happy. The only complaint I have is that the salsas seem to really be lacking any flavor. I ate the chips dry in the end because it didn't really do anything for me. read more

This place is so hard to judge. The place is clean, the service is quick and friendly. The food is good-- delicious tacos (soft and crunchy), huge burritos, churros to die for. However, after three visits, we will probably never be coming back for one simple reason: they are always out of stock. The last 2/3 times we've ordered, they've been out of green sauce; they've always been out of seafood; they don't usually have the more diverse meat products (pork belly, for instance). It's just frustrating to try to call an order for pick-up and be told that they're out of everything, and there's no indication on the menu board when you arrive either. I feel like they should take items off the daily menu and instead expand the "specials" in order to adjust your expectations. I guess at the end of the day I'd say if you want a generic Mexican meat product (grilled chicken, carnitas, ground beef taco/burrito), this is well worth checking out. The food really is worth it. But if you're looking for something new or interesting (or chile verde or seafood), there are other, more reliable, places to go to within the same vicinity. read more

Stopped here on our way to Reno. Delicious food, charming decor, and family owned business. We had the combo plate with enchilada and taco and a couple of burritos. Great portions. Made me wait at the register for about 5 minutes while he finished dishes... ask him to give me a super soft taco on a larger tortilla, happy to pay extra, and he flat out said no. I was looking for a smaller burrito I could eat while I was driving. Is that too much to ask? I guess catering to the customer doesn't exist anymore.
