Mansplaining (skip this): they're a giant company owned by an even more giant corporation (Yum Foods, which owns Pizza Hut, KFC, and others). They serve American fast food that's influenced by Mexican food. It's cheaper and generally more veg friendly than the other big chains. It's not inspiring food, yet I love it somehow. (Though if they had Del Taco here, I'd ditch Taco Bell.) Wicker Park location (service and ambiance): this Taco Bell is in a Chicago brick building, very nice. It's pretty clean inside and generally faster and better than other locations. The food has been consistently fresh at dinner time. Interestingly, besides not being in a standalone building, they have a window on the side where you can gawk at the employees making mass quantities of food, and they can likewise gawk at you wolfing down food or whatever brilliant things that you're doing. Neato! Ordering is easy. If you're looking for veg stuff, you can toggle a slider at the kiosk for stuff that's veggie only. If you're in a hurry to eat, you could do worse, and it might be tough to do better. read more

Taco Bell Cantina - 1107 W Addison St, Chicago, IL This morning (March 13) around 7:15 a.m., my girlfriend went to Taco Bell Cantina located at 1107 W Addison St, Chicago, IL 60613 to pick up her order. The restaurant was almost empty, yet the staff kept her waiting while they were chatting behind the counter with each other. She politely asked when her order would be ready, but they did not give a proper response and seemed uninterested in helping. She waited patiently for about 18 minutes. After waiting that long, she asked again about her order. At that point, a tall Black employee who introduced himself as John suddenly became aggressive and started using offensive language. He told her "fuck you" and said "fuck off from my store," while refusing to give her the order and forcing her to leave the restaurant. This kind of behavior from a Taco Bell employee toward a customer is completely unacceptable. Especially just days after International Women's Day, it is shocking that a female customer could be spoken to using the F-word simply for asking about her order. What is even more unbelievable is that this employee acted as if he owned the place, telling a paying customer to leave "his store" and refusing service. That is extremely unprofessional and embarrassing for the Taco Bell brand. As her boyfriend, I was present and recorded part of the incident on video, where the employee does not deny using these words or forcing her to leave. For transparency, this incident has also been formally reported to Taco Bell corporate/global management, and the video evidence has been included in that report. I hope the management of this location and Taco Bell corporate take this matter seriously and review the security cameras from around 7:15 a.m. today. No customer should ever be treated with this level of disrespect for simply asking about their order. Taco Bell management should seriously review the behavior of this employee named John, because this type of conduct toward customers is aggressive, disrespectful, and completely unacceptable. read more

It's bright inside with plenty of seating, but the tables can be sticky or littered, especially when it's busy. Late-night visits (11:30pm-3am) can be hit or miss. The lines are long, and service slows down, so ordering through the app is recommended--though orders sometimes get canceled 45 minutes later if they're overwhelmed. At least you get a refund. Delivery during those hours is also unreliable, though they use DoorDash without marking up the individual items like on the app. Just expect a $4 service fee. My friend and I showed up at 2:15am and the employee was incredibly rude and told us that we could not order because it was a 30 minute wait and that the store closed at 3am. Hopefully. The place itself is great, as long as you can find somewhere to sit and you're visiting at a point in your night where you're still up right. The late night option is more spectacle than substance, especially since it's still just Taco Bell food getting pumped out of the assembly line, but it's still a nice option to have, not only for the late night sustenance but also for the people watching. TBC will occasionally test out new Taco Bell items, which leads to the only heartbreaking part about the place. No one wants to learn that their new favorite Taco Bell creation has been discontinued...so you can imagine how bad it is to learn while slightly intoxicated that your new fave has been taken off the menu. I've never been a fan of Taco Bell and I never understand how some people crave the brand. I remember the hoopla around this place opening and it was exciting for most as they were going to serve alcohol here which is something the patrons of the neighborhood just love...cheap/quasi mexican and a last round of the alcohols before packing it in for the nite. Recently I was invited to try a new item of theirs called the Naked Chicken Chalupa which is basically a fried chicken shell with cheese, lettuce and tomatoes in the middle. It was pretty damn good and the best thing I have ever eaten @ Taco Bell. The other awesome thing for me was the Don Julio tequila infused cherry slushee and then the tequila infused blue raspberry slushee...beware as a double shot might creep up on ya! The location is in a prime time spot on Milwaukee Ave in the mix of all the action. I made a joke with one of the managers about what a Fri/Sat night looks like here and she laughed saying she was glad it wasn't her shift lol. The decor is very different from most TB locations as there is pretty cool graffiti on the wall and is well lit. Service was very good here...def worth a shot or two LOL read more

CANTINA ME What? It's amazing how one word can change everything. Cantina! Just by simply adding this word made me love everything about this place. If this is the future of Taco Bell then their future is going to be bright and blurry. Imagine actually sitting in Taco Bell and being able to order adult beverages. Forgot about that dream because it's a reality. I was lucky enough to get a preview of the new naked chicken chalupa with a true elite group of Yelpers and we all walked away happy. It's a fun perk getting to try a product 72 hours before it is introduced to the general public. I walked in with an open mind and I was really surprised. The brand new naked chicken chalupa is basically a deep fried chicken shell with lettuce, sour cream, tomato and cheese added into the center of the shell. I must admit that this new product was really good. Honestly it's been about nine years since I last ate at a Taco Bell. So I was really surprised when I bit in to this delicious chalupa. Who needs a shell anymore? Let's get back to the adult fun. This location has three craft beers on tap including Dos Equis which is my favorite food to have with tacos. I couldn't resist to get the double X's with some Mexican. They also have slush drinks too but you can turn them into a Las Vegas style drink by adding alcohol. The best part is that you can really taste the alcohol because it's added into the slushy after you order. They even have top shelf alcohol like Don Julio and Ketal One. Luckily my fellow Yelper Andre informed me I could get a double shot. I was so happy I could hug him and I did. We both enjoyed a kiwi strawberry slushy with tequila. How could this night get any better? How could anything top the new naked chicken chalupa? How about getting to enjoy these treats with the new Yelp Chicago CM! We were toasting and welcoming Alex to Chicago. And nothing says welcome to chicago more then some naked chicken and adult slushy in January. Ugh. This place has so much potential but ultimately falls very short of my expectations. I mean, a Taco Bell that serves alcohol sounds awesome, but I've been here a few times, and my experiences have consistently been unawesome. The main issue is how long it takes to get your order, and I've never even been there when there was a line. On my most recent visit, I waited for what would be an unreasonable amount of time at an actual sit down restaurant. Fast food this is not. I've also never gotten my order exactly as I input it into the kiosk, not completely wrong, but my customizations have mostly been missing when I've gotten my food. Some of the employees are very cool, and some make it pretty obvious that they don't want to be there. Additionally, some of the customers are combative and I've seen mild arguments between customers, as well as customers being unnecessarily rude to the staff. Overall, I could only recommend this spot to someone who's main deciding factor is price. Otherwise, I would suggest one of the many fantastic restaurants in the neighborhood instead. read more
