I hate to give any restaurant a 2 stars or below, but I really have to be honest with my Yelp community. First and foremost, I will mention all of the positive qualities of Taco Barn. It's in a great location, the service is absolutely spectacular, and the ambiance is that of a fun college pub/restaurant. I also have to mention that I am a massive taco lover. I've been out in LA, Chicago, DC, CF (Don't sleep on lil Rhody), and yes, Tijuana Mexico for tacos. I know great tacos, and this IS NOT IT!! In Mexico, you will have fresh tacos with fresh ingredients with no sauce other than hot sauce if you ask for it. The tacos at Taco Barn are absolutely drenched in sauce, and the overwhelming flavor is that of mayo. Whenever a restaurant has any dish that's drenched in sauce, you have to ask what are they hiding?? The food should have to spotlight and not the sauce!! I could barely taste any of the protein on any of the tacos because of the soup of sauce. Also, a pet peeve of mine with tacos is the addition of iceberg lettuce. You will never find iceberg lettuce in any authentic Mexican restaurant with great tacos. I could go on about how dissatisfied I was with the tacos, but it's borderline traumatic. So, don't go here for tacos, but maybe try them for their beer or other menu items. The Queso nachos were pretty good though, not amazing, but flavorful and cheesy. These tacos are amazing! We ordered takeout so i can't really comment on Taco Barn's service or ambiance but I will mention that the tacos had unique flavors and were delicious. My only critique is that they were a bit pricey for what you get. Most taco spots are usually around $4 for a taco where Taco Barn is $5. I know it's only a slight difference but when you're ordering several, it adds up. Hope to check out the restaurant next time for a more extensive review.

First time coming here after the change from Dr.Duffs to Taco Barn and I have to say I am a fan. The tacos were delicious and the food came out very quickly. I ordered a fish bowl to share with friends and it was delicious as well. The nachos serving was massive and was unable to finish it but good for leftovers. Our waitress was wonderful she was very attentive, very positive, and also gave recommendations. The ambience of the place has changed drastically from when it used to be Dr.Duffs it has more of a construction look to it, but much cleaner and more lighting than before, I am a fan of the change and surprised at how much better it turned out to be. I definitely will be back it's a great place to hang with friends!

Amazing birria tacos. The best I have ever had ! Side of queso for extra cheesy goodness.

We have always loved Dr Duffs and were sad when it closed but were psyched to see it reopen as the taco barn. Don't let the word taco deter you , there are regular tacos but also so many other kinds that you can find something you love. The inside is super cute and clean. The staff is very friendly. I forgot our servers name but she was so happy and took great care of us. We went on a double date and enjoyed the heck out of the chips and queso. Margaritas and many tacos. Prices are very reasonable , and you can have a nice time without breaking the bank. I had the Birria tacos and they were the best I have ever had. Def recommend taco barn for a fun date night , or dinner , or snack , or drinks. Anything !

Amazing food and service! My boyfriend and I came here for a low-key date night and it was so much fun! Staff were so welcoming and fun to banter with at the bar. Dinner was exactly what we were looking for: good cheap bar food! Definitely will be going back!

Love the new decor of the place, its cleaned up well. Food was very good, nachos were a good portion size. The drinks were great! Gives a bit of a dive bar vibe, as they only served with plastic utensils, plastic cups for regular drinks, and paper plates. I had the bacon chicken ranch tacos, and my guest had the Birria tacos. Id come back again.

They got Us in for a walk in waitlist within 15mins which shocked me as we were 4th in line on their waitlist link. Having a waitlist link was impressive in itself tbh. Love the communication for customers... showing the wait time and which spot in line you have. Chips and water came out quick even with the packed restaurant. At the end, I believe a manager, came by to ask how our dining experience was and to clear the table. Love that ! Nice that the manager jumps in to help and takes time to check in with customers. I was very impressed by their operations. I had el pastor tacos which the cinnamon-ish flavor profile wasn't my taste but the tacos were good if you enjoy that, came with black refried beans and rice. Rice was really good! I had the spicy Diablo margaritas with tajin rim and really enjoyed that as well. My bf had the birria tacos which came with the dip and he said it was mid, could've been better as wasn't much flavor. I also had shrimp ceviche which was ok too. Was hoping for more flavor. Really loved the warm tortilla chips and salsa was nice. We also ordered the cheese queso blanco dip which was really good.

Inside is small with few seats and a counter where you place orders. It was not busy when we went so we placed an order and sat down. We got a homemade pineapple juice and few tacos including chorizo, steal, al pastor, and fish. Fish was not able to be ordered as single for some reason. Pineapple juice was tasty and natural so it wasn't too sweet. It was foamy maybe from blending with blender? The tacos were pretty good. Everything was seasoned well and came with some spicy sauce and lime. Personally I liked the chorizo and fish tacos the most. Steak/al pastor was a tad bit dry but wasn't bad. Service was good. Took a but for food to come out but I can tell they make a lot of things in the restaurant and prepares it after its been ordered. Overall, the place was good. It's a solid Mexican restaurant around the area. I can't say it's the best I've had though as there are a-lot of good competitors in RI. I would get chorizo tacos and their juice again if I come back.

The drinks were great! 7.5-8/10 We also tried the mexican street corn & birria tacos. I was a bit disappointed with the mexican street corn since it tasted and looked like the corn came straight out of a cab & was not fresh. It was seasoned well and had great flavor but I wish the corn had been fresh. 4/10 The birria tacos were pretty good. They came nice and hot, with consumé that complimented the tacos well for dipping. 7/10 Our server was attentive and kind. You get chip and dip when you're seated the chips were really plane we put some salt on them. All in all it was straight: the place was freezing when we sat (don't get me wrong on a 100 deg day that would be amazing). Our server quickly turn down the air a bit. The significant other had the tea and chilaquiles. I really enjoyed my benefit. The chipotle hollandaise was slightly spicy but not overwhelming. Eggs were poached well, the crab cake was tasty, and the home fries were nice and crispy. No real complaints there! The chilaquiles were smaller than I thought they'd be but the significant other said he liked them. So, why 4 stars? I've been here before and while it's good some dishes don't blow me away.
