We had been patiently awaiting the opening of Taco Barn since Dr. Duff's closed...and it was well worth the wait! We went on opening and have been 5 or 6 times since. I feel so lucky to live down the street from here. Best of all, they are SO affordable. I don't feel quietly eating out when we go here. So far, the Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos are a must-try. They're my favorite and I get them every single time I go. Their iconic Birria Tacos with consume are a must-have with any order. Their House Nachos are a huge shareable starter and well worth it , especially for a bigger party. Really, everything is good. The service is always great! Every server we've had has been so friendly and attentive. My ONLY "critique" is the benches aren't finished, so the wood is just a taaad rough, but that should not deter anyone from going here. Just a small detail I hope they consider improving in the future. Nonetheless, they are a HUGE improvement from the stools they had when it was Dr. Duff's. Otherwise, Taco Barn has such a unique, youthful, and chill ambiance with the wooden features all over and gorgeous Edison string lighting along the ceiling. Go here!! read more

Shockingly Surprised, then disappointed 2 visits with different outcomes. 1st was enjoyable, tacos were decent, margs were well made, and the prices were reasonable. Fell for the consum"ay" with the burria tacos 2nd visit, tacos were a sloppy greasy mess. Burria tacos tasted old and reheated, fried avocado tacos were gross, The drinks, we were not forewarned that a double means you pay double the price for a drink. Bill went from affordable to overpriced. To be honest, this place doesn't serve authentic tacos. It's one of those taco places that invents greasy messy (mac and cheese topped everything pun) tacos and I think they should serve a basic good fresh street taco that isn't dependent on some greasy add ons to try to be clever. Sad that Dr. Duffs is no longer here but wanted to give this one a try since I am a taco fiend. I really wanted to like this place. But here are some of my honest opinions: Likes: - staff was great! Super nice and friendly. I gave an extra star mainly for them. - the Queso fries were good - the birra tacos were good but just a bit on the salty side. - the atmosphere looked cool Dislikes: - The boom boom crispy shrimp tacos- I don't enjoy lettuce in tacos and they loaded it with way too much sauce. It felt drenched so I couldn't really finish it. - Nashville hot fried chicken tacos- again too much lettuce and way too much sauce which seemed like sour cream. The chicken wasn't crispy and the taste was just ok. - and avocado tacos- way too much mayo all over this taco. It was overbearing. Might work for some people but not for me. - the smell of the unfinished wood was a bit too strong for my senses. Im always open to trying new taco spots and I hope they keep improving. read more

I hate to give any restaurant a 2 stars or below, but I really have to be honest with my Yelp community. First and foremost, I will mention all of the positive qualities of Taco Barn. It's in a great location, the service is absolutely spectacular, and the ambiance is that of a fun college pub/restaurant. I also have to mention that I am a massive taco lover. I've been out in LA, Chicago, DC, CF (Don't sleep on lil Rhody), and yes, Tijuana Mexico for tacos. I know great tacos, and this IS NOT IT!! In Mexico, you will have fresh tacos with fresh ingredients with no sauce other than hot sauce if you ask for it. The tacos at Taco Barn are absolutely drenched in sauce, and the overwhelming flavor is that of mayo. Whenever a restaurant has any dish that's drenched in sauce, you have to ask what are they hiding?? The food should have to spotlight and not the sauce!! I could barely taste any of the protein on any of the tacos because of the soup of sauce. Also, a pet peeve of mine with tacos is the addition of iceberg lettuce. You will never find iceberg lettuce in any authentic Mexican restaurant with great tacos. I could go on about how dissatisfied I was with the tacos, but it's borderline traumatic. So, don't go here for tacos, but maybe try them for their beer or other menu items. The Queso nachos were pretty good though, not amazing, but flavorful and cheesy. These tacos are amazing! We ordered takeout so i can't really comment on Taco Barn's service or ambiance but I will mention that the tacos had unique flavors and were delicious. My only critique is that they were a bit pricey for what you get. Most taco spots are usually around $4 for a taco where Taco Barn is $5. I know it's only a slight difference but when you're ordering several, it adds up. Hope to check out the restaurant next time for a more extensive review. read more

First time coming here after the change from Dr.Duffs to Taco Barn and I have to say I am a fan. The tacos were delicious and the food came out very quickly. I ordered a fish bowl to share with friends and it was delicious as well. The nachos serving was massive and was unable to finish it but good for leftovers. Our waitress was wonderful she was very attentive, very positive, and also gave recommendations. The ambience of the place has changed drastically from when it used to be Dr.Duffs it has more of a construction look to it, but much cleaner and more lighting than before, I am a fan of the change and surprised at how much better it turned out to be. We have always loved Dr Duffs and were sad when it closed but were psyched to see it reopen as the taco barn. Don't let the word taco deter you , there are regular tacos but also so many other kinds that you can find something you love. The inside is super cute and clean. The staff is very friendly. I forgot our servers name but she was so happy and took great care of us. We went on a double date and enjoyed the heck out of the chips and queso. Margaritas and many tacos. Prices are very reasonable , and you can have a nice time without breaking the bank. I had the Birria tacos and they were the best I have ever had. They turned the old Dr Duffs into this new establishment and I am so ecstatic about this revelation! The food was exquisite and cured my depression. The service was so fast I got my food before I even ordered and got my order right first try despite its specificity (it was a taco).
