The staff is always attentive and they sell top notch equipment for fair prices. You can get your reels wound with whatever line you need for 5 bucks too. Overall great experience and the prices are on point.

Very great tackle shop, kind of hard to see but for a little tackle shop they have almost everything salt water and fresh. I am sure if you ask they will order for you. They also have a dressing room, big baits, reward program, they also give you tips on whats biting. REally nice guys, the parking kind of stinks, it is a good little tackle shop with all your needs, good selection of baits for all different types of fishing can get your fishing license and line on your reel. Excellent place.

Ask the Community - Tackle Express

    Do you sell fishing licenses?

    Yes they do

    Do you do gift cards?

Yes, we do have gift cards. We can make them in any amount you'd like.

Do they have the shovel tool that helps get sand crabs out of the sand?

Yes, we have those. It's called a sand crab rake but it doesn't resemble a rake too much. It has a U shaped handle with a mesh scoop. You simply drag the rake through the water on top of the sand. If there are sand crabs there, you'll get them.

Do they sell frozen squid / anchovies etc...?

Yes we sure do. We have frozen squid, anchovies, sardines, and mackerel. They come in 1lb bags and cost from $3.99 to 5.99.

As with any retailer some locations are better than others but apparently corporate is stupid! I have purchased from Bakersfield South. I am a Retired Police Officer. LEOSA, HR 218, California CCW. There are certain things I am exempt from with the main one being California Revenue and Taxation Code Section 36021, active and retired peace officers are legally exempt from California's 11% firearm and ammunition excise tax. 36021(a) explicitly exempts retail sales of firearms, firearm precursor parts, and ammunition made to any active or retired peace officer. They just have to complete a form. I have gone into three locations only to argue with Managers and forcibly take my documents back. Could it get more fun? YOU BET IT CAN! Sales tax is NOT Standard in California depending on the City involved. (Pasadena 10.5, Reseda 9.75, Bakersfield 8.25) Not huge UNLESS you are charged the California Excise tax as well. Add 11% a $1000 firearm can set you back $1300 before you get out the door. Add Ammunition, ANOTHER 11% its per sale and separate items per California. If still with me, You Rock. Ruger stopped making a firearm I wanted!! Once the old, new factory was back on line there it was BUT not California compliant. (Ruger does not make State Compliant Firearms. They SHIP with compliant magazines but sillyness like fin grips is up to the reseller or their third party to furnish) Big whoop. On sale, Californication compliant, stupid fin grip but it may be two more years to come back. "ADD TO CART" Oh gee, excise tax is automatic so I called On Line sales support. TIM ROCKS!!!! The guy had no idea about any of what I have mentioned like most of their employees. (Excise tax, different sales tax rates in the same State and COUNTY.) The excise tax is $100 and may take months to be refunded because the purchase went through corporate not a branch. I shopped at the store a couple of months ago looking for some new boots that I had seen on their…read morewebsite. It turns out the boots I wanted were not stocked in the store and I was told the boots had to be ordered online. I am always hesitant to order boots that I cannot test fit first, but I was assured I could exchange them if I needed a different size. So, I went ahead and ordered the boots online and also added a t-shirt that caught my eye. When the order arrived, the boots fit good but the t-shirt was a size too small. A couple of days ago I drove to the retail store to simply exchange the t-shirt for the next bigger size, which they had in-stock. That's when I was shocked to find out that they could not exchange the shirt for a bigger size. The reason given was that they changed their return policy and all online order returns must be done by shipping the item back to their warehouse. I asked the salesperson if I could just drive to the warehouse (2.4 miles away) to make the exchange, but was told the warehouse is now closed to the public. (I'd visited the warehouse in the past to pickup previous orders held in will call.) So when I went home and got online to process a return/exchange, I found out that I am required to pay $15.00 for a FedEx shipping label to have the item shipped. For a $16.00 t-shirt, it's ridiculous to pay $15.00 to ship the item back just to exchange it for the proper size. I've been a customer of LAPG for several years and have always been pleased with the retail store staff, but I am not at all pleased with this new corporate exchange/return policy. Seems ridiculous that I could not simply exchange a t-shirt which is one size too small for the correct size shirt which is right there, in-stock, just because the original purchase was done online. The only reason I originally made the order online was because the boots I wanted were not stocked in-store. So if I'd been able to originally purchase the boots and t-shirt in-store, I would have been able to exchange the t-shirt in-store. But, because I purchased online, I have to pay $15.00 for shipping so I could get the correct size shirt? This makes absolutely no sense and online buyers should be aware of this ridiculous policy.

I try to support small local businesses whenever I can, especially ones in my own neighborhood. In early January I stopped into Addax Tactical while I was out riding my e-bike with my dog. The staff were friendly, they were cool about my dog being there, and they even let me bring my bike inside. My first impression was positive. A little later I went back to order a rifle. I wanted a Henry Big Boy .357 Lever Action Rifle. They didn't have it in stock, and I was told it would take about two to three weeks to arrive because the SHOT Show convention was coming up. While doing the paperwork, I also decided to purchase a Ruger 10/22 so I could complete both purchases with a single background check. I left a deposit of about $1,200 toward roughly $2,000 total for the two rifles. Both rifles are very standard models that most gun stores typically have available or can obtain quickly. I could have easily purchased them elsewhere, but I made a deliberate choice to support a smaller shop in my neighborhood and was willing to wait the extra couple of weeks. Based on the timeline I was given, I expected the rifles to arrive by late January and to have them in my possession by mid-February after the required 10-day waiting period. That didn't happen. After three weeks I called to check on the order. Nothing had arrived yet. I waited another week and called again. Still nothing. The responses were always very casual, with little explanation other than that the rifles had been ordered. Around six weeks into the process, I was told the Ruger had arrived but they hadn't called because they assumed I wanted to pick up both rifles at the same time. I went in immediately and started the paperwork to take possession of the Ruger. During that visit I learned something that had never been mentioned before: the Henry rifle had not actually shipped yet, and the shop generally places firearm orders in batches rather than ordering individual rifles. This was the first time I had heard that, even though the original estimate had been two to three weeks. At that point I agreed to upgrade to the octagonal-barrel version of the Henry since I had always wanted that model anyway, and I was told the change would not affect the delivery timeline. After the 10-day waiting period I picked up the Ruger and again asked about the Henry. The answer was still that it had not arrived yet. By this point we were about eight weeks into the process, with no clear timeline. About a week later I called again and received the same answer. At that point I decided to cancel the Henry order and request a refund. I was told the refund would come from accounting and that I should expect a check in two to three weeks. After two weeks I called again and was told it could take up to 30 days. I eventually went to the shop in person to check on the refund. This time I was told I could not bring my bike or dog inside, even though I had been there several times before with both and it had never been an issue. Eventually I received a call saying the refund check had arrived. For the sake of transparency, I'm writing this from memory without the receipts directly in front of me, so the dollar amounts may be off by a few dollars either way, but the numbers below are very close to what was paid and refunded. When I picked up the check, the amount returned was about $370 out of the roughly $1,200 deposit I had paid. That means that after roughly 12 weeks, the final outcome of this transaction is that I effectively ended up with a $830 Ruger 10/22 -- a rifle that typically sells for a few hundred dollars at most gun shops. Even assuming some type of restocking fee, it's difficult to understand how that result makes sense, particularly for a rifle that, according to the shop, had not even shipped yet when I cancelled the order. I went into this purchase specifically because I wanted to support a small neighborhood business like Addax Tactical and was willing to wait longer than usual to do so. Unfortunately, after the delays, the lack of clear communication about how orders were handled, and the final refund outcome, the entire experience ended up being extremely frustrating. If you're considering ordering a firearm here, my advice would simply be to make sure you clearly understand the ordering process, timeline expectations, and refund policies before leaving a deposit. Posting this simply to document my experience so other customers know what to expect when placing a special order here.
