The place is huge but I didn't see a fishing section. I like that they had a batting cage and a golf...range simulator? I posted a photo. Went in with my two frenchies and a few amount of employees seemed to perk up and be open to help out if we needed. Went for a friend to pick up her purchased bike. I really love this store and all the people that work here! When you walk in, it doesn't matter what time of day, how busy they are, or how many times any customer walks through their doors they will always hear "Welcome" by one of their associates! All their associates in the different departments have great knowledge about what they sell in the department they are in. Even the cashiers are knowledgeable about everything. I also love their cashiers because they treat you like you are family and they make you laugh. One person I especially enjoy getting help from is chayil. She is always so cheerful and kind. She knows what you need, makes suggestions and gets you into a pair of shoes you will love. Then you go to the cashiers and are rung up by Richard. He constantly makes me laugh. Plus he is very knowledgeable. This store is always clean. Their bathrooms are always clean and smell nice. Every item is in its place. It is very well stocked. I'm not showing everything in the store because people many times use our pictures to steal because they know where items are kept. At least that is why Tiffiny's would not allow me to take pictures. You can custom order a jersey with your name on . Just ask them how. You can get every kind of sports equipment you want. Golfing, Basketball, football, soccer, tennis, but no camping equipment. They have treadmills and workout clothes and equipment. They sell water bottles and hand warmers. They have golf watches which is interesting. I love Dicks. My wife, our two kids (5 and 7), and I visited the Santa Clarita location today, excited to see the new renovations. Our experience started out great--we received a warm welcome at the door and the associate in the shoe department was very helpful in finding the right size for my son. Unfortunately, the trip was ruined by an interaction near the basketball section. My son picked up a small football and tossed it to me from about 5 feet away. Immediately, an employee behind a clothing rack snapped, "Don't throw balls in here." It was so abrasive that my 5-year-old's immediate reaction was, "That was rude." While I understand store safety, a little patience goes a long way in a sports store catering to children. A simple, "Hey guys, let's save the playing for the field!" would have sufficed. Instead, it completely dampened our mood and we won't be rushing back anytime soon. read more

Extremely disappointed with Dick's Sporting Goods customer service. I bought a cooler bag for my husband's birthday, and it had a broken clip before it was ever even used. The tags were still attached and the item was clearly brand new, yet the store refused to return, exchange, or help in any way. The staff was rude, dismissive, and offered zero solutions. Now I'm stuck with an expensive broken bag that was defective from the start. It has been a long time since we've been to Dick's. It is so nice to go to a large, clean, and well organized store. All the sales associates were friendly and helpful. We were after some new Brooks walking shoes. Dick's has a great selection. The best part is they have many different sizes to try on. Kevin helped us tremendously. He pulled out at least 6 different Brooks in the size we were looking for and helped us with our choices. We ended up buying to pairs. Marissa checked us out and was very friendly. She encouraged us to sign up for Dick's membership. She made it quick and easy. I only wish Dick's had a fishing equipment department. Sadly they do not. They are located in a large shopping center with plenty of parking. The inventory is large and extensive. john from golf was phenomenal. he helped me with a driver fitting and was very thorough throughout the whole process. i ended up buying a driver on the spot which is really rare for me. i came in a couple of days later for shoes and to my surprise, i see john in the shoe department! we had a great conversation and ended up purchasing new shoes for me and my little ones. john was super friendly with my kids which i appreciated. the store itself looks amazing after the remodel and everything is well organized. will definitely be back! read more

I purchased 2 bikes from Dicks Sporting goods on Carl Boyer dr in Santa Clarita on Saturday evening 4/18. I live 45 mins from this location. One for my wife and one for myself. I really didn't get to ride it around and try it out. Besides being in a store, the tires were flat, seat loose, etc. The kid on the floor that I had to go find for help, seemed he wasn't really into working that night, nor really into answering questions or wanting to be helpful. I signed what I was told were registration forms for the bike on this small old cell phone looking screen while he "tuned up" the bike. I requested at the minimum to air up the tires (that didnt happen). I took my purchase to the register, the guy that rang me out was really friendly. The next evening I took it through my neighborhood for a small ride (after airing the tires and tightening a few other items on the components), I figured out with the really bad and almost dangerous front fork suspension and not quite the size I wanted, I was going to return it. Being somebody that works and such i wasn't able to return with the bike till today Thursday 4/23. I was greeted by a cashier with a reluctant tone, and knew this was already not going to be in my favor. I explained i wanted to return the 1 bike, with the reason of not happy with the product. She immediately asked if I knew the 24 hour return policy. ?. I did not i said. I explained nobody at any point had mentioned that. Another cashier explained i should have signed something saying that and the sales person should have said that. I agreed he should have said that, but he didn't. And here I am expecting, I don't know, a typical 30 day return policy. Here I am 4 days later with an Un used bike being told I was suckered into an awful purchase by a company that doesn't care for their customers or the possibility of their return happiness to purchase more things from them in the future. I literally take care of people's home purchases and do not sacrifice their happiness or their sense of connection with our product just to get out of doing work or save a couple bucks. Their purchase is the reason I and others have a job. Dicks sporting goods I will assume at this point doesn't care about return business from their customers. They already got my purchase. We'll I guess thats probably the last one, and they wonder why Amazon is thriving. read more

Daryl the store manager has serious issues. I'm hoping corporate takes a look at these reviews and takes some action. I've been purchasing golfing equipment exclusively from dicks for the last few years and it's safe to say I will be ordering all my gear via Amazon from now on. I've never had an issue with any employees there before so the fact that the manager was this bad is shocking. I had purchased golf attire from dicks less than a month ago and the stitching had come unraveled. Less then a month of use and the fabric was splitting and the stitching tearing. I had a return receipt and the product with me. Daryl was in a mood and uncooperative from the get go. After going round and round for thirty minutes I couldn't sit and argue anymore. He did not honor the return policy, because he didn't feel like it. I lost out simply because he was in charge. So I drove all the way across town because I figured Dick's would have the best selection if basketball shoes in the area. I came last Fall just to try on some shoes so I could figure out what I wanted to get. Unfortunately, I was told by Alyssa, that because it was not basketball season, they didn't have a big selection. That was the only thing Alyssa couldn't help me with. I have tendonitis on my foot, which makes shopping for shoes challenging. Now I need to wear wide shoes because they aggravate my condition less. She knew so much about the different fits of the different brands, which fit narrow vs wide, and where I could find different brands. She knew lots of other sports stores and their inventories. She knew about old shoes, new shoes, comfy shoes, uncomfy shoes. She was so knowledgeable and patient with me. I was very impressed. If you're in the market for basketball shoes, ask for Alyssa. This branch of Dick's never ceases to disappoint me. This is especially true of the Golf department. For example, in June, I brought my 6-iron in to be both regripped, and reshafted from steel to fiberglass. I wanted to assess the job they did on this one club in anticipation of reshafting/regripping my full iron set. Well, I was told that they had NO grips in stock. Hmmm. So, I asked if they could complete the job if I obtained the shafts and grips from another source. The man told me what the cost would be (a good price, actually), so I ordered a shaft and grip from the net, got them a week later, and brought them in to Dick's for the job. So, I bring my 6-iron into Dick's with the new shaft and grip. The staff member at the golf desk was a well-meaning young man who, it appears, was almost totally new to the store and the golf department. But I trusted Dick's. The young man accepted my club but asked bizarre questions such as "what length do you want us to cut this shaft to?" When I asked him how he was going to perform the job, he said, "Well, I've never done one of these, but I'll make sure our other guy walks me through it." I told him "Please no. Please let him handle it, ok? This is important." He nodded and said "Of course." When I came back to get the club a few days later, a very competent guy named Council brought out the club to me, and immediately apologized. "For some reason, whoever re-shafted this club used the wrong glue to put the head on with." Indeed, it was black, and smeared over the shaft and head. Council was a gentleman, and said that he was going to reimburse me for the labor. I have respect for Council, but when I ordered a full set of shafts and grips on the net, I brought them in to Roger Dunn to do the job. I would have let this all pass, as I do not write many negative reviews at all. So, it takes really bad goods or services to prompt it. Today was the last straw. My wife needed new swim goggles, so we went to Dick's. While she was there, I went over to the golf department. As I'm looking to replace my hybrids, I saw one I wanted to test out. I brought it to the associate (yet another revolving staff member) and I asked which one of the test mats I could use to test the hybrid. The young man then tells me "we'll have to charge you a $19 fitting fee to test it." What the . . . ??? Apparently, now they charge a fee for taking a few swings to test a club that you're considering buying. I told the young man thatthks spring I bought a golf bag there, three dozen golf balls, four gloves, etc., but now I'd have to pay Dick's for the privilege of testing a full-price golf club that until very recently I'd be able to simply step in and test swing for a few minutes???? I told the young man "Thanks anyway." I anticipate that I may get a response to this that "people were abusing the club testing privilege, so we had to put some restrictions on it." I. Don't. Care. Find another way. It's an amazing insult to charge a paying customer with a history there $19 to test swing a hybrid. The kicker? If I were testing a wedge, it would only cost me nine dollars. But if I were testing a driver, it would cost $29. It's obvious this branch of Dick's doesn't value it's golf customers. So, I'll spend my golf dollars elsewhere. read more

For the past two or three years, I have purchased pretty expensive bikes from this location. I would definitely say the rest of the store has terrible service, however the bike area is top-notch. No matter who they've had back there the past few years they are always very helpful. They may not be there when you're looking around, but if you search for someone to help you, chances are they're going to be awesome. Went there and was so thoroughly helped by a young girl, inspired me to bring all my bikes back for service and a Starbucks gift card for her as well. Oh, and also write this review. Never contacted me about the delay and never told me my items were ready to be picked up. I had to reach out 3 days after they promised an update. And a week after I had initially dropped off my items. Value is not there when you add up time lost. I wouldn't have minded so much if someone had just contacted me with some sort of update. This is a very large sporting goods store so you might find something you haven't been able to find in other smaller stores like Big5 but you will likely also pay more for it. I went in for some chain oil for my bikes and found it at the very back of the store (small section of bike maintenance items). I decided on the one I wanted it was $8.99 which was similar to the cost on Amazon. I was at the checkstand and saw three cashiers, one of which was talking to another employee instead of working so after a few minutes I was able to check out. We went to Walmart right after and found a smaller bottle of the chain oil for half the price...guess I should have just gone there first. read more

I was all set to give this store a reduced star rating, because they sold me an open box stationary bike as "new". I was unboxing it and noticed that there was more than normal packing tape and all of the plastic sleeve protectors were sliced. It was clear it had been messed with, but I started assembling it because it was in good condition and the store was a long drive for me. As I went on I discovered more and more missing parts. Parts that left the seat and handlebars useless... the digital screen that tells you the speed, heart rate, pulse, etc... tools needed to tighten bolts. So, I was forced to return it. And I was P'd off. But I had such great, competent & thoughtful service from the young gentle man that brought my new bike to my car, that I turned around completely and wanted to leave 5 stars.
