I stopped by this Vans store inside Valencia Mall today to look at their skateboard selections while my wife was shopping. They had some nice board on display with great design. I also checked out some shoes and shirts as well. The prices are reasonable and there are some deals as well. Not the best experience at this store. The store itself is set up like a boutique store which made it feel like not your regular Vans store and felt a little off brand. The employees there are definitely out of the ordinary for the brand. They never said a word, not even a hello, and seemed like they had no interest in helping anyone out. Three of them just stood at the register staring while we browsed the shoes. At just about any other store the sales associates are always welcoming and try help you out. After a couple minutes of standing there waiting for some help as no one could be seen after dispersing from the front counter, we left. read more

I usually like going to Kohl's Store, but recently it has been an unpleasant experience like today when I went to purchase a new pair of shoes. I went to the shoe section and there was no one around to help me. I had to walk to the check stand to look for help. Just before I got there I found an employee who called on their radio for assistance for me. When the employee arrived, I pointed to the shoes I wanted and t hey said, "They only had that size in wide width." I said, "I would try them on and let them know if I wanted or needed another pair." The employee left and I was unable to get assistance to try on another pair. I left and went to another store to make my purchase. This is not the first time this has happened to me in this store. It would be helpful to have the employee in or near the department to assist customers as needed. read more

Nice selection and friendly service made this visit a 5 star. They have a bunch of shoes to select from and they also offer custom shoe designs on their website. Okay, so I know it's kind of weird to write a yelp review for a retail store, but I had such a good experience here today I had to do something! The guy helping me (he had super curly hair, kinda like a fro and my receipt says his name was P. Hagerty) was the super awesome! I came in today because I got paid and really needed some new comfy sneakers for work. I have really bad social anxiety, and today was one of my especially hard days. He was so welcoming and nice and did an amazing job of matching my energy so I felt comfortable. He offered to lace up the shoes for me because I was totally messing it up (lol) and I thought that was such a nice personal touch. I ended up trying on only three different shoes before deciding on the old skools in lavender. Thank you so much! You made my experience really great! REDEMPTION My best friend and I walked into VANS expecting to come out only with a pair of shoes and a good attitude. What I got instead was a grand tale full of awkward encounters, laughs, and an employee that emphasized the idea that not all heroes wear capes. We were first approached by a boy who, for some reason reminded me of that Dutch Boy In Blue painting(you know which one it is). He tried to convince my very beautiful best friend to get matching shoes with him--you've gotta get that commission somehow amirite? Then there was Carlo. Jude O. and Jeremy have been helping out at the Northridge Mall Vans location since the Santa Clarita Vans is remodeling. Even though I was only there to try on shoes to buy custom online later, they were so helpful and so kind it honestly made my day. Since I was the only customer there, it was great to see them work as a team to quickly get me the shoes I wanted to try. Jeremy was so friendly, I felt at ease there, even though I told him I didn't plan to buy anything from the store. I am getting the shoes for work, so he helped by giving me options that fit my needs and my budget. Both Jeremy and Jude both conversed with me while trying on the shoes, and made me feel welcome, instead of pressuring me to buy something. I decided to buy some laces because I appreciated their service so much it made me smile. I was surprised that I would have such a positive experience from a Vans store. Considering how crazy it is right now with everyone doing their last minute Christmas shopping (myself included) they offer great customer service! They welcome everyone that comes in the store. I wear Vans shoes, but don't wear their clothing or etc. This store is a NIGHTMARE during the holidays. Is it their fault? Of course not. It was expected. But the cashier that rang me, my mother and my son up seemed flustered or under trained. We bought a pair of joggers. She informed us that it was BOGO 50% off. There were no signs that suggested that. But of course we wanted to take advantage of a 10$ pair of joggers. A sign would've been helpful both to us and the people in line behind us. My mother stood to the side and I ran and grabbed a pair. The cashier took the next customer, which was totally acceptable. It took her 20+ minutes to figure out how to do an exchange. Finally she rang us up. We requested a gift receipt for a gift for my boyfriend. She said it was in the bag and we were on our way. Luckily I double checked right outside of the store, and she gave me a gift receipt on something I didn't even purchase? I'm assuming the person before us's gift receipt? Whatever. The quick purchase turned into an hour long ordeal. UPDATE: I was shopping for shoes for my boyfriend who wears a size 8.5 in men's (average size) and was informed that they currently didn't have high tops in any sizes over 6.5 in men's (pretty small). He really made me feel welcome and I can tell he really likes his job because he provided excellent customer service by greeting me and others, while maintaining conversation and eye contact. As someone who has worked in customer service for years, I can tell he is a great addition to any team activity. His boss and managers are lucky to have him. This is a horrible store as sales associates are extremely pushy, they are always bringing out many shoes and trying to get you to buy socks, what's up with that? Plus I went in a week ago and I've noticed that no one talks to you unless they know you are going to buy something. Extremely hard to get their attention as they are just socializing with each other. On top of that, my shoes don't last longer than 3 weeks nowadays, it seems quality is not vans anymore like they used to, the glue on the sides are made cheap . Not recommended. Vans is a great place to get the vans shoes you want. This store has a really good selection of vans shoes, shirts, and other merchandise. Most of the time it seems to be better than other stores in the mall. I went there yesterday and got new white shoes for school. As always great customer service, keeping me up to date on the latest deals. Right now they have a promotion. Spend $50 today, get $20 off any purchase in September. Totally Cool!!
