I think this place deserves 4.5 stars but I'm giving it 5 stars to boost its rating because it's shocking that this place is only 4 stars and I thinks it's getting overlooked for lesser places What we got Good House bread- I don't love the concept of paying for break but this was delicious. Hot brioche with warm butter and salt. 100 percent worth it Bone marrow - loved it. Generous portion. The best part I will say is the grapes they served it with. They were the size of cherry tomatoes and it tasted like eating red wine. You have to try it to understand Rabbit pasta - very delicious and well executed. I was unfortunately too full from the bone marrow to finish even the half portion. Portions here are generous Steak - excellent. Well seasoned and perfectly cooked Ok- Flourless chocolate cake- I'll always order this if it's on the menu so needless to say I've had many. Delicious but the cake was on the drier side. Still very good though. I almost wish I had ventured out to try some of the other desserts because I saw them and they looked delicious Service - excellent. Very friendly and attentive. Discovered this cute little restaurant the last few times we travelled to Asheville. Super small inside so a reservation is a must. Ordered the beef kabobs and it was single-handedly the best thing I ate during the entire trip! Didn't love the wings on the bar snacks, but everything else was absolutely amazing. Good service, nothing overly special. I can't imagine trying to serve such a small restaurant! A must try when you are in Asheville! read more

In my top five NC restaurants! Small and cozy, but not cramped. Made me think of European cafes. Stewart was our server, and he recommended every thing I ordered. Trust him! Started with the Cuffing Season cocktail- absolutely delicious. Heidi's Bread and butter shouldn't be missed. It was perfection. I then had the Ricotta Cavatelli & Rabbit Sugo. I've not had a pasta dish this delicious since spending Christmas in Lece. Had a lovely chat with Jacob Sessoms at the front door as we were leaving. We ate here while visiting Asheville. We were incredibly excited about our reservation. We booked a few days in advance after walking by the restaurant several times when downtown. We were excited about the space, the menu, and the drink list. Unfortunately, our dining experience was disappointing. While we were seated, we heard two tables next to us make several comments on their food including that the schnitzel was too salty for both tables and that the sorbet was too sweet. That was foreboding. Sadly, our table of two had a similar experience with every dish that we received being too salty. We ordered the spring market vegetables, the dry-aged beef kebab, the cavatelli, and the roasted chicken. Each dish was salty, including the spring vegetables. The dry-aged beef kebab was very rare, which made the dish hard to enjoy in addition to the saltiness. Due to how salty both the skin and the meat of the chicken were, we were unable to finish the dish. As far as service, the staff seemed uninterested in the experience of their clientele. Our particular waiter did not have any excitement about the menu or true interest in our dining experience or how to improve it. After witnessing others provide feedback on their dishes with varying results, our feedback did not feel welcome so we agreed to provide it here. While I wanted to like Table, I would not return or recommend it to others, which is disappointing. We came alll the way from Miami to celebrate our friends bday. She choose Table for her bday dinner and what a great choice! Table was easy to find and had very cute cozy decor. It's a small place so make a reservation if you plan on coming a busy night! We arrived an hour early and sat immediately. Our server was Malcom and he killed it!! He was super lovely,helpful ,attentive and fast! The food was phenomenal starting with some crispy potatoes and brócoli ooof so delicious and well prepared. Our main plates were the rabbit pasta and a whole fish. The fish was shared by 3 people. Great portions! Dessert was apple pie and Ice cream. Phenomenal fresh and inventive cuisine time and time again at Table. Cannot go wrong with the bone-in Ribeye, although the crispy salty potatoes steal the show in my opinion. The new Russian style dumpling appetizer blew my mind, featuring an interesting beet sauce and crème fraiche, and the rabbit house-made cavatelli never disappoints. We also had and enjoyed the pork schnitzel and crispy Brussels. An unassuming and not at all pretentious establishment hidden in downtown Asheville, simple fresh flavors are delivered time and time again in a clean and simple rustic atmosphere. The best dining experience I have had in Asheville in 6 months. Really enjoyed absolutely every aspect of our dinner at Table. We had a reservation for two on a Friday night and were sat at a comfortable corner table upon arrival. We were greeted pretty quickly by our server who was all around amazing. I think his name was Brett (sorry if I have it wrong!) He walked us thru his favorites on the menu in great detail. We had other things in mind initially to order, but we were pretty confident we wouldn't go wrong with his suggestions. Started with the herb salad and Heidi's bread to start. Not even a huge bread person, it's honestly delicious and pairs perfect with a salad. My husband had an old fashioned and after I had a small sip, I had to order one because it was honestly amazing. If that is your drink of choice, you need to try it here! We raved about the drinks and our server brought over the bottle of whiskey so we could see what they use to make it with. Came here on a Saturday night for dinner. We were able to call ahead and got to the restaurant about 10 minutes later with a table ready for us! The restaurant has a nice vibe and when the outside temp cools off, they open the big window/doors that create an immersive dinning experience with the outdoor street. The service was excellent and we never felt rushed. We had a great server who knew the menu inside and out. She helped us decide our main courses. Mushroom toast - we started with the mushroom toast as an appetizer. If you love mushrooms, you will like this toast. Has a nice buttery, garlic taste. We split the toast 3 ways and it was a good amount for us. Pork chop - for my main course I had the "Chop Shop's Pork Blade Steak." It was served on top of delicious heirloom beans with garlic, cilantro, citrus flavors. The meat was flavorful and marbled. It was a hearty meal and filled me up. The others I was with ordered the Ricotta Cavatelli & Rabbit Sugo and the Spaghetti alla Siciliana. For both meals they offer a half serving and a full serving. Personally, I would have been full with the appetizer and half portion of either dish. The Ricotta Cavatelli was hearty while the Spaghetti was on the lighter side, but still flavorful and filling. If this review were just for the food it would be 5 stars. Everything tasted incredible. My partner and I enjoyed the appetizer bread--it will haunt your dreams so I highly recommend it. I ordered a lovely pasta dish that had the most beautifully balanced lemon sauce. I haven't stopped thinking about it since. My partner loved his seafood dish as well. The space is a bit tight and we were wedged between other couples eating, but it was a lively and exciting vibe. It felt great to see a dining room packed with people laughing and breaking bread together. However, the entire experience was soured by our server, whose name I did not catch. He was incredibly pushy and it made us uncomfortable. Once we gave him our dinner orders he said "what else?" as if ordering an appetizer and two dinners is somehow not enough food for two people? I welcome an upsell, but just staring at your guests and saying "what else?" is unhelpful and uncomfortable. Also, when he delivered my cocktail he just kind of did a drive-by - dropping it on the table, telling me quickly that it was a different drink than the one I had ordered, and then walking away before I could ask why I was receiving a different drink. We thought maybe the bar had made the wrong drink and he was generous enough to give it to me while the correct drink was made but he didn't return for a while. When he did return I asked him about the drink and he said that what I got was essentially a different version of the other drink I ordered. When I pointed out that they had pretty different ingredients/flavor profiles and that the one he gave me was was described on the menu as non-alcoholic, he got irritated with me and became short tempered. I just think there were so many better ways to handle this--simply ask your guest if they'd like a different drink if the one they ordered is not available. The young man bussing tables (he mentioned that he was studying music) was wonderful and helpful. Our server seemed to be giving good service to other tables, but was just really unpleasant and passive-aggressive with us. We sat at the bar; excellent cocktail offerings, 2 skin contact wines, good other wines. The bread YOU MUST EAT - spectacular. Really. Do not leave this plane without getting some. My cavatelli with rabbit sudo killed - fresh made pasta, light but complex sauce. I would never be able to make that, and that's why you should eat it: you can't either. The pasta pomodoro, a simple thing, really performed with fresh toms etc. Someone made all that by hand. Service was relaxed and cool and very professional - everyone knew what to do, how, and when, all with a genuine, not-overcooked smile. Friendly. We had a relatively late reservation and no one rushed us or even gave the impression it was near closing. We were greeted warmly as we arrived and as we were seated. Fantastic wine selection and the food was absolutely incredible! We had the lamb kebabs and carrot and burrata appetizers, followed by the pork schnitzel and pasta al funghi. For those who don't know, Table is now at their new location around the corner at 18 North Lexington Ave. They have an outdoor patio which we chose to sit at and watch shoppers wander by. It was a perfect Thursday evening for it as things weren't 'weekend hectic' yet and we didn't have to share the space. Our waitress, Erin, was very attentive and friendly and went out of her way to make sure we had a lovely evening. Towards the end of our meal we were told she was new which made her even more impressive. Table, if you're reading this, she's a keeper! If you've ever been here or read other reviews you know this is not an inexpensive place to eat. The corkage fee alone is $25. However, the old adage you get what you pay for truly sits well with this restaurant. Table prides themselves on farm to table and it shows. The ingredients are obviously fresh and the plates are presented in a way that lets you know the kitchen takes pride in what they do. We will be back and looking forward to it! read more

Docked a star because the ambiance wasn't great, especially considering the upscale prices...We had a much higher expectation of the dining experience. When we looked at the menu online and planned this as our newlywed dinner we thought it would be chic and elegant but what we showed up to was a hole-in-the wall, side-by-side seating arrangement. Our waitress for the night, Hannah, did an extraordinary job keeping up with every step 0f our meal. the wine selection is tremendous. So... I went to Table once before, but it was as part of an "organized" Asheville food tour. The chef made a fresh Asian Style Beef Tartar that was amazing - he literally ground the beef in a meat grinder and made it right in front of us. I didn't think it was fair to write a full review based on that one experience. Fast forward to brunch with some Yelp friends a couple of weeks ago. Yes! It's officially official - Table is indeed awesome! Tonya ordered a couple of "light" appetizers for the table - two orders of biscuits and sawmill gravy. Everything is local/scratch made here. The biscuits and gravy were served with a poached egg - you break the egg, stir with the gravy and go to town! You can taste the love in this dish! The waitress was just plain high caliber - she handled a table of eight like it was a walk in the park. Very attentive, graceful and silently but not overwhelmingly present. Coffee cups and water glasses were filled promptly - silverware replaced in between dishes/courses. Just seamless service! For a main course I had the citrus braised beef - super tender with just a bit of orange zest on top. Served over crispy fingerling potatoes - you pierce the poached egg and stir - the crispy potatoes and beef intermingled with the yolk (and balanced with a kale salad to the side and a little treasure trove of tahini) were just perfect. My wife ordered the Shakshuka - a Tunisian style tomato based vegetable stew with kale, carrots, poached egg and haloumi cheese - wow! Loaded with flavor and fresh herbs! Yes, I know - that was a lot of poached eggs! But hey, it's brunch! And damn was it good! Everything here is/was pretty amazing! 5 stars - no hesitation! This is where locals bring people when they come in from out of town (while everyone else lines up at your typical Tupelo Honey and Mayfel's) - so you know it's just that good! read more

We loved this place and plan to return soon. Our first visit to AVL was picture perfect and the good food at Table was great! Five stars for the food, the service, the literal bar seats. Right in front of the man. Our location put us with Malcolm the way-more-than bartender waiter. And--the owner stopped by. The bar staff answered questions. .people were working hard as the Saturday night crowd built. We got the table with no reservation and with only a few minutes wait. The stars aligned. Now the food. We ordered three bites to share plus bread and dessert, beers. Orders weren't oversized platters but are just the right size to share first the bread is to live for. The butter is the Best we've ever had. Asked the kid behind the bar and he told us how it's made. It's a fermented milk butter and we did eat every last bite. Yum. We also ordered the shrimp dish, the veggie with humus dish, and once we enjoyed those, we were served the rigatoni. All were excellent and we cleaned our plates. With the bread and butter. Mmmmmm. The blackberry sorbet was divine and had a something special tang to it. A fine finish to an outstanding meal. All in all, a perfect stop on Lexington Ave in Asheville. Even from seeing this place from the street, we knew it would be a bit of a splurge. Nonetheless, it was well worth the extra shekels.The inside of the restaurant is gorgeous, with their open kitchen and handsome dining room. There's a great view of one of the most lively and interesting streets in Asheville as well. We started off with a charcuterie board which included salami, a duck pate, house made pickles, bread and apple butter. Everything on that wooden board was just delectable. For an entrée, my girlfriend and I split a beef short rib with sautéed kale, broiled potatoes, and brussels sprouts. Wow-what a delicious repast! The meat from the short rib fell off the bone and the flavors of the vegetables, especially the kale, danced on our taste buds. For dessert we got a coffee and pecan financier with homemade ice cream, and a glass of sherry. Needless to say, the finale was exquisite. Fantastic experience. Service great. Awesome ambiance. Sat in kid friendly bar area and ate variety of menu items. The wine selection was extensive and high quality. The bar menu was honestly better than the actual restaurant menu. I ordered their burger and fries for daughter and luckily she was not hungry thus wife and I able to smash. The burger was absolutely divine and I normally do not like burgers (I don't even care for burgers at burger themed restaurants-give me chicken tenders or some sort of salad)...but wow this burger. It was like a juicy lucy in taste as the cheese melted over grass fed local ground beef burger which was perfectly seasoned. The fries were harmonious alongside it as well. The rabbit pasta dish was also pretty good (don't be scared, rabbit is like a pulled chicken). The chicken and dumplings were very tasty as well, though the chicken is bone in (I grew up in 90s, bone out generation sadly). Dumplings more like little flat biscuits than noodle like plays on dumplings which I very much enjoyed. The lamb and beef meatballs were lackluster and overpriced. My wife and I cannot stop talking about how horrible the food was last night. It's a pleasant enough vibe, but that's pretty much where it ended. We went with three other friends who felt the same way we did. Our friend, Michael said it best, "for the price point, you've got to do much much better." Kristen asked if they had a "buttery Chardonnay" to which the waiter looked dumbfounded and replied, "I'm not familiar with the wines here." Huh? My wife ordered the ricotta entree which was as weird as it sounds. It was served cold, had no flavor, two mushrooms and corn crab meat hiding in there somewhere. We aren't picky and it was just plain weird and bad. She's vegetarian so her options were limited. I felt badly for her and gave her half the fries that came with short rib burger. It was turned out to be two small pieces of beef and three small chunks of cheese that had obviously been cut off of a small block of cheese... two chunks were mostly melted and one was just hanging out solid as could be. The brioche bun tasted old but that was somewhat masked by the grease covering it. I ordered a side of creamer corn that wasn't creamy but tasted decent nonetheless. Not great, but decent. My friends reported afterward that theirs was very mediocre too. Also to note, they don't have a single cabernet you can purchase by the glass. Bottles only. Overall, it was a night filled with excellent company and an awful dining experience. First and last trip there. After 4 days in AVL, this is by far our best experience. Every aspect of the food, service, and environment exceeded our expectations. We sat outside with our dog, with the intentions of a drink and small bite. We found too much incentive not to dive in to the menu. We had the bread, cavatelli, and chocolate pot de creme, along with a wonderful bottle of Chenin Blanc. The food was so good and the wine was a fantastic accompaniment. The service was spot on - not too much, teamed to have all the right support without interrupting every aspect of our conversation, and excellent support for our decision making. 2 gripes-- 1) The outdoor seating creatively re-purposes a steep alley into a tiered deck with overhead bistro lights. Really pretty booths as we walk up and up and up... until you get to the last 2 which are basically in the parking lot behind Kimpton Hotel. Fine, but its also right off the back of Table and Right Here Bar where the employees take their smoke break on an overturned bucket every 10 or so minutes. The smell of cigarettes really overpowers the nice food. I would definitely appreciate it if Table had a no smoking policy and kept the outdoor space cancer free (patrons and employees alike :)) 2) The menu offered 2 items prefaced with "Black Trumpet" which we took to mean the delicious wild summer mushrooms that pop up around this time. We were surprised to see plain ol' Shiitake mushrooms instead. When asked, the server pointed out that this was the name of the farm. We said its a bit deceiving and inconsistent as other farms were not referred to by name (SC Royal Shrimp for example just listed the place of origin). We had quite the bitter experience at this restaurant. Bitter, but in a pleasurable sense that is. A distinctive bitter note carried through from salad to entree to dessert and we appreciated this flavor profile after dining in restaurants where sweetness was the dominant flavor. The sharply flavored radicchio salad was velvety with slender salty anchovies tucked among the leaves and crushed almonds adding the crunch. The trout for two was almost comically oversized, but the bitter char on the skin and the succulent flesh were delicious, as was the the side vegetables of grilled Brussel sprouts. Our dessert of dark chocolate sorbet added the final touch of intense bitterness to our meal. read more
