My husband and I went for Valentine's Day and it was ok. We made a reservation, and they sat us upstairs in the room they usually reserve for private events which felt a little awkward. Our favorite thing of the night was the Pimento Cheese and Gauc appetizer. Both of our entrees were mediocre at best, my salmon was very bland and my husband's pork chop was overcooked and lackluster. Our server was fine, no issues but didn't stand out in any way either. Overall, a very disappointing experience for an almost $100 meal. We will most likely not return.

Went here for Valentine's Day dinner, and truthfully was not impressed. Food was alright, it wasn't bad by any means but it was nothing great. I got the pork and it was a bit dry. Shake the table while cutting it kind of dry. Service was ok, again nothing awful or bad but not much interaction. We were sat upstairs where I assume they usually use for events so that might have impacted the ambiance. The best way I could the describe the experience was ok. It was a restaurant

Did a solo dinner here last night and overall found it just ok. The spot has a nice ambiance - very chill. But as others have mentioned, every dish is excessively salty and nothing stood out. I got fried pickles, the southern plate with fried catfish , and a key lime pie. The fried pickles were good and had a generous serving but the catfish was just way too salty.

My husband and I came here for a quick date night. It was a Saturday, so we expected it to be somewhat busy, but we found the place nearly empty. We found two seats at the bar and really enjoyed that they were seemingly able to open it up and make it more of an outdoor space when they choose. While the appetizers were great, we did not order dinner. I found it odd that there were not that many people there, but maybe it was because there was an FSU game going on? We will definitely be back for happy hour and appetizers, but the food looked a little pricey, and not something that we would generally like. The service was iffy. The bartenders seemed apathetic and could use a couple smiles.

Was looking for a place with a bar & good food and voila!! This place was great!! The food, the drinks and the friendly service! I could have order the whole menu, but went with the fried green tomatoes and the turkey sandwich! Blake was a great server / bartender!!! Highly recommend this place next time you are in Tally!!

What an amazing experience and worth the 45 minute wait. (Make your reservation earlier in the week) it was no wonder that every table was full. The hostess handled us so sweetly and professionally during our wait. Then when we finally got seated our server Perkins greeted us immediately with a sincere smile, apology for the long wait and a plate of warm bread. We immediately ordered the pimento cheese and guacamole appetizer and drinks. Wow! The pimento cheese dip was pure perfection and my margarita was perfect. Dinner exceeded our expectations, the sirloin steak was served with a savory dipping sauce and sliced potatoes. My Shrimp and Grits was filled with jumbo shrimp sautéed to perfection with tail completely removed and a savory sauce around the grits that made every bite an explosion of flavor. Everything was excellent including our server Perkins. Although I was visiting my daughter at FSU, the next time we're in town we're already talking about making reservations and going back.

The experience was good for the large party of people that were in attendance. The waitress was accommodating and patience. The food was good and I ordered shrimp n grits without mushrooms (not a fan). I give it a 8/10. More shrimp would have been nice however it was a good amount for the price.

Food was great. Service was excellent. Very noisy busy outdoor bar scene. Loud girls partying but that happens.

What is the parking situation like? Is it valet only or can I self park?

The parking behind the restaurant is all valet (it is their own parking lot).

Well...that’s a tough one! It is August in Tally so it’s warm out. However we do have fans on the porch and it is covered. I sat outside recently and I didn’t think it was that bad. Now if I would have been in a suit or long sleeve shirt, I may… Read more

They run a promotion where if you sit at the bar, your meal is half-off. Unfortunately, we were 4 people with a 9-month-old so bar seating was not in the cards for us. We walked up to counter and placed our order. 3 burgers, a chicken sandwich, two small bowls of fries and two small side salads. After tip, it was $96. I've had less expensive sit-down dinners with top-notch service for that price. Our food was brought out to us not too long after we ordered. I will say the food was good. I ordered a double cheeseburger. It was comically large and nearly impossible to eat. The patties were thick and the beef was fresh and savory. I did the build-your-own. Mine had pickles, lettuce, tomato and cheese. The fries were ok. We got the parmesan truffle fries. They had the slight earthy taste of truffle and dusted with parmesan. The side salads were good. The kale was fresh and crunchy, it had a light vinaigrette on it that didn't weigh down the salad and complimented the bits of tomato and carrot. In the end, we enjoyed the meal but couldn't get past the price tag. If there is a next time, we will pop our 9-month-old in her car seat at the bar to get this food at a reasonable price.

The best I can describe it, is that it has a retro-craft feel. I really dig it. Food comes out quick and is excellent. Bar tender and staff is friendly and chill. You can taste the cooking oil is kept clean, and is changed often by the fries and the smell. You can taste the food is made to order with real food. They also have cool events all the time. Like a poker night, and trivia night. I think the poker nights are Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm and 8pm. It's a little hard to find, tucked behind another building, just off the main road. Carful parking the little lot in the back, they have a massive pot-hole thing... just go real slow. Always seem to meet the most interesting people there. Nelson's Burger Bar is the "misfit island of toys" of the burger scene. Infact "scene" is exactly the right word to describe it. This place is a total trip. Next time your craving a beer and good burger, get yourself over here.

We sat at the bar- they had indoor and outdoor as well, but the bar was good. Our server was amazing- funny & knowledgeable about the menu- loved him. My husband ordered the Carolina dog and the Nelson burger and he loved them both. I loved my Nelson burger as well. It was big, but it was tasty and seemed like we had just cooked it on our grill outdoors. It was a nice, clean, bright space, and the food was delicious. We will definitely go back if we are in the area - craving a burger, hotdog, or sandwich - all of the sides/extras looked amazing as well. We will have to try those next time.

How can you tell if you are going to have a bad experience at a restaurant in the South?…read more There will be some signs I will share with you based on my recent visit to Big Randy's. Sign #1: Sweet tea brought to you is from a soda fountain and not fresh-brewed. Making fresh-brewed sweet tea does not cost much. The waitress admitted it to me. I cannot tell you how many times I have had an awful sweet tea from the tab and the the rest of the experience has gone downhill more times than stabilizing the sail. Sign #2: Buying ranch to go with your wings instead of at least being given an obligatory one. Wait...it gets worse...paying for a pre-packaged Ken's Ranch...not Ranch made in-house. Sign #3: BBQ sauce on your wings is Sweet Baby Ray's bought from the grocery store. That is what my wife received and I probably had Sweet Baby Ray's Gold on my overcooked wings. Sign #4: I haven't met many French fries I wouldn't eat but Big Randy's tested me. I couldn't eat them. They were like McDonald's fries except way too salty. My wife's fries had no salt. The only saving grace from a 1-star is at least they made my wings extra wet like I asked and the service was fine. That's how you earn a 2-star. Note: the fried pickles had more of a corn nugget batter and the floor was also very sticky.
