So I walked in to get a bowl of Ramen. I was literally the only customer in the place. A person working behind the counter was busy cleaning something up and said something to me like, I can take your order at the cash register. Ok fine. I was standing right next to the cash register. I replied, no problem I'm not in a hurry. They again told me I was standing in the wrong place. They started to lecture me about why I was standing in the wrong place whatever -I'm the only person in here, shrug. Arm gesture toward and almost touching said cash register... Again, while they were still doing other chores and not ready to help me actually order a bowl of Ramen, they continued to tell me why I was being inappropriate and standing in the wrong place. I've just had it with this abusive attitude toward customers. like it's not necessary to be so rulsey, particular, weirdly controlling and not helpful... it's Portland, I know the game, at this point I'm supposed to bend over backwards and do whatever this person needs because they might be having a bad day, because they are unique, because they need me to make them more comfortable. It's rude and it's really not OK to treat people like this. And you know what, I too, might've been having a hard day. Having just come from my appointment at the hospital. I just looked at this person. Didn't say a word and turned around and left. If you are that uncomfortable in public or OCD or petty power tripping, controlling whatever - you don't belong working in food service. It's not complicated and places that aren't polite and don't employ common sense and just basic manners, are earning losing customers. It's just not OK to treat each other like this. And it's commonplace. My sincere hope is that people reading this review will realize that you have a choice of where to eat, especially in Portland. It sounds like other reviewers here had similar issues and if these places can't hire some nice people to work there then maybe we need fewer places to eat out because they don't really deserve our business. Even special snowflakes have to learn how to create new behaviors to keep a job. read more

One of our favourite places. Love the Taiwanese popcorn chicken. The unagi is great. The deep fried squid is great. My kids love the curly fries. My family also loves the boba and tea drinks. The service here is impeccable. I had been enjoying the Taiwanese Popcorn chicken and asked one time if it had dairy since my wife has an allergy and I hoped she could enjoy it. The employee checked with the cook and brought out the package for the flour they use and showed me while stating there was no dairy including butter, casein, or whey. I was blown away that they knew to check for casein and whey which can trigger the dairy protein allergy (and are in so many goods). Now one of my wife's favourite spots (and the rest of the family as well). The shop is a really nice space and I like they new benches and tables they recently added. read more

There are several locations of T4 shops in this area. This location is currently my favorite. The drinks made here seem to be stronger in flavor and therefore taste better to me. Who wants to pay for weak watered down tea? Not me. They do not charge extra for "no ice" and their overall prices are quite reasonable compared to some other tea shops. The menu has a great assortment of tea drinks and non tea drinks along with all the usual toppings. There is also a selection of food items including my favorite, bubble waffle. Service is prompt and friendly. There is seating available inside and outside as well. They also offer delivery thru GH. Highly recommend! read more

I may not be Taiwanese, but them advertising 'Authentic Taiwan Taste' is a stretch. I visited this boba shop around 6pm on a Sunday for a refreshing drink. I ordered the Mango Royal Tea with Coconut Jelly. First disappointing this was even though I ordered coconut jelly, I got lychee jelly instead. Sipping on the drink was sweet and refreshing, but the mango flavor tasted so artificial and even chemically. However, my drink was not as worst as my friend's . She ordered a berry smoothie, but it turned out to be more of a slushie. There were huge ice chunks in it which were not very enjoyable and made it hard to drink. I feel as if our drinks weren't put much effort into since they were wrapping up for the day, but that really isn't an excuse for serving quality drinks. I've been looking for new places to eat lunch and this is a good one. Smith Teamaker doesn't serve any food, but T4 next door does. I ordered an Earl Grey tea and Taiwanese popcorn chicken. I didn't specify hot or cold; they gave me iced tea probably because it's July? Or that could just be the way it is. I've never been to a tea place before. The popcorn chicken was a surprise, very tasty, and a big portion with sweet & sour sauce. The tea was very good too. I waited about 10 minutes. This store used to be Moonstruck Chocolate and has retained the same general layout. That's the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5. Their menu makes them almost a restaurant, but they only have 4 small tables (2 chairs each) and one large table (8 or 10 chairs). They could put stools all along the south wall with one long ledge "table" and would probably fit 15 people that way instead of 8. Anyway, I'll try to go when it's not busy. read more

Even though I ordered no spicy, there is still a kick to 'em that I like. My order took about 10 minutes, but the chicken came out hot and juicy...so no complaints about the wait time. Food: Tried the octopus balls and I wasn't a fan of the fact that the dough was slightly gummy in the interior. Otherwise fine, but be prepared for a slightly sweet sauce to be applied liberally unless you check that impulse. Fried chicken pieces were fine but am used to significantly hotter and for them to be shaken in a hot coating. Alternatively, here it comes with a thin hot/sweet sauce. Pro tip: pour the sauce all over the chicken and close the container. Cover top with a napkin squeeze it shut as you gently shake the box. Drinks: I love that you can customize. Store hours stated that it opens until 8:30pm today so I'm not understanding why kitchen is closed after 6:30pm. You might as well close the entire store at 6:30pm. When I tried to order food the cashier said their kitchen is closed for the night already, mind you they don't close for another hour and there was no sign indicating that.
