TJ's Carry Out is a very good hole in the wall cheesesteak place in Linthicum. Very easy to miss if you haven't been here before. They have a good variety of options but I've only tried the cheesesteak here. Their cheesesteaks are delicious and I usually get their combo which comes with fries and drink for under $9. They don't skimp on the meat here and also give a large portion of fries. Seems like most of the negative reviews are delivery related so if you do carry out, you should be good. After doing some driving to figure out the lunch plans, I landed at the very end of W. Nursery Road where a little restaurant sat. I saw the sign "T.J.'s Best Steak Subs" and thought to myself that this has got to be another restaurant hyping itself up a little too much. Being the curious fellow I am, I went in and gave this place a try. First thing I noticed when coming in was the amount of patrons already in the store. This told me that this seems to be a popular spot for locals and for those who work in the area. After ordering the Ribeye cheese steak special with fries and a medium drink, I can see why. By the time I was able to digest the sub, I couldn't even eat all of the fries. By the way, the fries are plentiful. It wouldn't be Baltimorean of me if I didn't get a half and half (half tea/half lemonade) for the drink, which hit the spot as well. The whole special, including tax, came to $7.41. There are no tables inside the restaurant, so pretty much be prepared to pack your food for the long haul. T.J.'s is definitely worth another visit in the future. read more

I have only tied their cheesesteaks sub special (large sub, large fries, and soda) for about $8.50 and can't bring myself to try anything else because they are so good. You can see for yourself how fresh everything is because they cook right in front of you - cutting slices of steak off of a giant top sirloin, they use fresh rolls and the fries are always cooked to perfection - always crispy (never soggy and they obviously change their oil often). The staff are always extremely friendly and the prices are very good. The amount of food you get for the Cheese Steak combo with fries and my half and half drink is a deal you can't beat (you have to be ready to finish it all yourself and honestly should be split for 2.) If my food didn't take 2 hours to get to me this place is an easy 5 stars. But when you pay $15 for a luke warm cheesesteak and cold mozzarella sticks a place just loses its good qualities. TJ's has pretty decent food most of the time. But it's honestly the service that is knocking it down to two stars for me. I order here frequently and this incident not only happened once but twice. They forgot a part of my order, it's okay I understand accidents happen but the attitude was very negative and I felt accused of lying to get more food. As I was on the phone the second time, the manager said that they had found the food that they forgot and started laughing about it. Usually food places are reliant of having a good relationship with customers but it seems like the people at TJ's doesn't really care. As stated earlier the food is okay. Had the cheesesteak and fries because of the awesome reviews on Yelp and Urbanspoon. I was very disappointed. The only thing that was good was the portion size. The bread was dry, the onions were undercooked and the cheese was in clumps (not melted). The meat is ok, they do give you a lot of it. It did need some more seasoning. Someone said the fries were "to die for". The fries were just your run of the mill frozen fries that they put in the fryer. Nothing special. The place is a dive, and not in a good way. It doesn't seem very clean and after I got my sandwich, I noticed a tub of raw meat just sitting on counter behind the grill. Not sure how long that had been there.
