They live very close to a location there, and we got pizza to go when I was visiting them one time maybe in 2022. The pizza was very good as I recall. Then, I saw there was a location of Primanti Bros. opening in Linthicum Heights near BWI Airport, the first location in the Baltimore-DC area. They were having a grand opening on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, where the 1st 100 customers were going to get free sandwiches for year. I live about 13 miles from here, and I toyed with the idea of trying to be one of the first 100. But I opted against as even if I got there at 6 AM for the 10 or 10:30, whatever grand opening time, and there's still no guarantee I'd be the 1st 100. And I'd be pissed that I drove all the way there and stood there for hours to get nothing in the end. Not to mention, I had work too (although on average probably slower due to also Juneteenth holiday), which I could do from out there to a certain extent. Ultimately, I had emailed them, and they said the 100th customer got there at approximately 4 AM that morning! That's insane. This place really has a cult following! A friend, who knew I lived in AA County, loves this place and mentioned the idea of meeting up with me one Sunday to watch a Ravens game, and him and his fiancée (wife as of March 2025) went up there a few times to watch game or other reasons they went that way. On Thursday, October 3, 2024, like Juneteenth the holiday Primanti Bros. opened, it was Rosh Hosannah, and that friend who had off (as he works in a school & they get the Jewish holiday) off invited me to lunch with another friend of ours. My work was slow that day, and I needed to eat lunch somewhere anyway. I probably would've eaten lunch at home or close to home if they hadn't thought to invite me. So, I drove the 13 miles from home to meet up with them. Those two friends were kind of high. Well sure, it was a holiday they were off work. And they were hungry too! However, server was a bit of a klutz as she accidentally spelled some water got a bit on one friend. Geez, was she the one who was high?!...just kidding, it's just one of those accidents that can happen being a server. She was apologetic. My friend took it with stride having a positive attitude. I believe I got a pastrami sandwich, but could've been corned beef. Their sandwiches are big, pilled high with lots of meat & delicious too. Food safety is not something that should ever be taken lightly, especially when customers may have allergies or other dietary concerns. Because of the seriousness of the situation, I felt it was necessary to contact the health department. Beyond the food safety concerns, the customer service I received was unacceptable. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend eating at this location. The fries were hot and crisped and quite generous. We liked Willy's welcoming staff. They seemed to like the place and the customers, and they seem to know many as regulars. And the customers filled the room with a soothing background of happy chatter. I can't tell you how comfortable it felt. She asked how far away our friend was and then asked if we could simply order for her. We explained that we hadn't even been seated yet and that she was less than 10 minutes away. She then pointed to the sign stating that incomplete parties would not be seated and commented that moving tables was "a lot of work" and that they had many reservations. At that point, the restaurant was practically empty. She eventually told us she would seat us "just this one time." I understand having a policy about incomplete parties. What I don't understand is why the interaction needed to be so unnecessarily difficult, especially when we were only waiting a few minutes for one person. Once we were seated, the service did not improve. Our waitress would not serve us anything until our sixth person arrived -- not even water. We had a pregnant woman with us who simply wanted a glass of water, so we ended up going to the bar and getting our own drinks while we waited. When our friend arrived, we ordered our meals. She also asked if she could order a gluten-free crab cake to take home in addition to her meal. She was told she would have to physically go to the carryout section herself to order it and that it would not be cooked; she would instead be given instructions on how to prepare it at home. To top it off, the food itself was less than impressive. Restaurants are absolutely entitled to have policies, and we had no issue respecting them. The problem was the way everything was handled. From the moment we arrived, we felt like an inconvenience rather than customers who had made a reservation and were there to enjoy a meal. Good customer service can make up for a lot, but unfortunately, neither the service nor the food gave us a reason to return. It is safe to say there will not be a "next time."
