Cute table decor

I came into town for a wedding and had to try all the foods Louisiana is known for. I went to T-Coon's for the beignets. They're made fresh. But they weren't what I expected. Besides the powdered sugar, the dough was not sweet. Cute diner style restaurant, clean with good customer service.

Amazing beignets! I loved the coffee tap on the table. I also really loved how wonderful and sweet the waitresses were. Thank you for a great experience.

Food: 4/5 We ordered the Red Beans and Rice Lunch Special & Crawfish Etouffee Lunch Special ~ cabbage, green beans and rolls for sides. Everything was very good & tasted like a good ole lunch at your grandmas on Sunday afternoon. The cabbage was our favorite for sure! Service: 5/5 Very quick and excellent service from all the staff. Took us no time to get in and out on a Thursday at lunch time! Ambiance: 4/5 Don't let the outside fool you, it's located within a strip mall building but the inside is very homie feeling with unique decor & historical stories everywhere. Tons of room

There are a lot of things that I love about Acadiana. My mom, Cajun food, and the accent. If only I could do the accent justice I would try and speak that way all the time. Know what I am saying chair? Anyway, T-Coon's is the kind of place that this dude from the hard streets of Nola loves. I used to work with a guy who worked down the road from here. He kept telling me that I needed to come visit at lunchtime and we would go eat here. Well, he retired so that never happened but when I was in town last week at lunch, I decided it was time to give ole T-Coon's a try. T-Coon's is the kind of place that can only exist in Acadiana. I have been to similar spots in Eunice (Cajun Music Capital of the World) and New Iberia (Capital of my Mom). Yes, many cities have casual lunch spots but none can match those in Acadiana. The menu here is vast but I have learned that the special of the day is always a good idea. On this Monday it was the smothered rabbit with rice and gravy. It came with two sides and I opted for smothered cabbage and green beans. The flavors were great but difficult for me to describe. Rich, deep, and delicious are some adjectives that hit the mark but you have to try it for yourself. I will say that the rabbit has a lot of bones so proceed with caution. The cabbage was the best I have had hands down. The ladies behind the counter were as sweet and friendly as one would expect in Acadiana. Prices were very reasonable and we left full and happy. If you find yourself in Lafayette, make sure you visit T-Coon's. Tell them T-Bubs sent you.

When in Lafayette drive past all the shopping centers and chain restaurants to seek out T-Coons in a strip mall. It is a well appreciated, family, traditional Cajun restaurant with country ambience and many locals of all ages. There are daily specials and service is mostly from a premade buffet selections. I was alone so I can only report on my one meal which I would call spectacular. I had crawfish étouffée which was overloaded with the critters. It came with delicious Cole slaw and a sweet fresh bun.

Beignets

Beignets always great. Prompt service. Southern comfort food and atmosphere. Beignets are made to order, fresh and hot. Perfect size and density! Which is important!

We're on vacation and we literally stopped by here just to try the beignets and they did NOT disappoint. Very tasty! Can't say much else... we got them to go.

We loved our breakfast so much that we came back the next day! The food was beyond delicious especially the grits and beignets. We loved the atmosphere and the Cajun community who are obviously regulars. I hope to come back soon.

Biscuits and gravy and, by request, with crawfish. Beignets (because we both incidentally wore black) All so good!

We were looking for the perfect Louisiana breakfast and found it. Our waitress, Ashley, was amazing. She was attentive, helpful, and just fun to talk with. We loved the coffee and that they leave the decanter at the table for refills. The place had a nice mom and pop diner vibe. Staff made us feel welcomed. The food was incredible. It was the made-with-love kind of food we craved. Husband wanted biscuits and gravy topped with crawfish, and they happily accommodated him. I had the sausage biscuit with a side of grits. If I could have that plate for breakfast every morning, I would. We will be back again!

A great breakfast and I'd love to come back for the catfish courtbouillon. And right by our excellent Homewood Suites. Mellow Joy is a historically significant coffee brand recently brought back. And thanks to our wonderful waitress who just enhanced the experience.

We tried a few different bites, and everything was exactly what you want from a spot like this -- flavorful, fresh, and satisfying every single time. Food: The food is really the main attraction here. Nothing overly fancy or trying too hard, just consistently good food that delivers every time. Everything we tried was solid, and it's the kind of place where you already know you're leaving happy before you even order. Service: Service was smooth with no issues at all. The staff kept things moving, and the experience was easy from start to finish. Ambiance: Billy's has that classic Louisiana stop-through feel to it. Nothing extravagant, but it doesn't need to be. The food speaks for itself. Overall: Not much to rave about besides the food -- and honestly, that's all it needs. Billy's is officially one of my can't-miss stops anytime I'm driving through Lafayette. I'm never passing this place up.

The cracklins had a little bit of fat and meat on them which I wasn't used to. I'm just used to the fried crispy skin. It tasted more like fried/seasoned pork belly. The seasoning is really good though. My favorite boudin was Billy's more than the smoked one but my fiance liked the smoked flavor more. I wish we took pics but we just ate it in the car. The casing was a little tough to bite through so I sliced it and scooped out the insides. Although the Billy's boudin is good, I don't know if it was good enough to drive from Texas for it. I need to search for more places while I'm here.

I didn't even know that the "Boudin Capital of the World" had this many people. The place was packed, and I visited on an off time on an off day. I guess they don't have any off times or off days. Our wait was quoted at 40 minutes, and it was fairly accurate. They have a full bar to grab a drink and chat with friends while you wait. You can also grab a drink and stand alone in the corner, but that would be creepy as hell. Once seated, I was ready for some food. My kid and I shared some of their firecracker chargrilled oysters, and they were wonderful. Ensure your order has charbroiled oyster,s and you will be happy. The table also had an order of fried onion rings, and they, too, were excellent. My entrée was fried shrimp. When it arrived, I was concerned as the batter looked a little darker than I am used to. One bite, and that concern went out the window. These were some perfectly fried shrimp. This is an awesome place.

The boudin egg rolls were unreal--crispy on the outside, packed with flavor on the inside, and clearly made with care. The Landry po'boy was stacked and satisfying, with fresh ingredients and a perfect bite every time. The alligator bites were tender, well-seasoned, and fried just right--not greasy at all. The fish plate was cooked to perfection, flaky and flavorful, with sides that actually felt thought-out instead of an afterthought. But the real standout? The firecracker oysters. Unique, bold, and addictive--sweet heat with just the right kick. That's the kind of dish you come back for and tell people about. To top it off, T's Tea with the rice vodka was both strong and refreshing--the kind of drink that sneaks up on you in the best way and pairs perfectly with the food. Great food, great drinks, and a menu that shows real personality. Uncle T's is the kind of place you recommend without hesitation and can't wait to revisit.

I admit, I've seen an abundance of these recreated villages, all across the US. Growing up, my…read moreparents were fond of them, so they've been a part of most vacations, and many of them tend to blend into one another. Vermilionville, however, stood out as one of the best, and is a memory I'll hang onto for a while. The attendants in period garb were friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer our questions. The woman with her spinning wheel even gave us a demonstration. She had taught herself to spin whilst working there and explained the excessive amount of hours it took to finish even one sweater. She also made it possible for me to try the bread pudding I'd been eyeing on the restaurant menu; she warned me they were closing in just 15 minutes so we rushed over and put our order in. Now, I'm not sure if their restaurant has its own yelp page so I'll just review it here. That pudding was the most delicious, most perfect bread pudding I've ever had, and I've tried quite a lot from some of the best places in NOLA. The top was crisply caramelized, and the center was a buttery custard infused with vanilla and cinnamon--an aromatic taste sensation. The server brought me two containers to go (an extra as I'd only asked for one!) and I was so excited to try it, I devoured the first one while wandering between the houses. There were some rather beautiful little homes, furnished with accurate historic decor, and I appreciated that we were able to look at things on our own, at our own pace, free from having to follow a guide. We visited on a day it was set to storm, but we were able to see most of the buildings before the sky opened up on us. We foolishly forgot to bring umbrellas of any kind, so we ended up darting between structures, and eventually taking refuge in the old church while the worst of the rain passed. It was atmospheric and memorable. We found some charming animals in a little barn--a donkey and two sheep and we said hello. There were even mushrooms, and among them we found a single chanterelle, so keep an eye out, fellow mushroom hunters! Lastly, you must leave adequate time to check out the gift shop. They have something for everyone, and much of it made by local artisans! I would recommend Vermilionville to anyone with an appreciation for southern history.

They shared historical details in a fun way, bringing the old houses and artifacts to life. The restaurant is onsite so we ate lunch. The food was absolutely amazing! The picture was after we ate half, so you get plenty of food. Every thing we ordered was perfectly seasoned. The bread pudding with praline sauce was wonderful (also not pictured). We would definitely recommend the restaurant as its own destination! The restaurant hours are 11am-2pm and the historical views are available 10am-4pm. Enjoy!
