My experience was the same as the other poor reviews for this business. The bill went way passed the original quote while half the originally quoted work wasn't completed due to endless excuses. On top of that, when one of the parts they recommended/ordered arrived and it did not fit my model year, this guy had the nerve to force me to pay the hundreds of dollars in return shipping and restocking fees to his vendor. If I didn't pay the return shipping charges and restocking fees, they made it very clear that they would put a mechanics lean on my Jeep. Avoid being taken advantage of like me and others. Stay away from this place and these people. read more

Mike and Dennis are a wonder to work with. A previous shop had taken me for a ride on an aftermarket part install, and Dennis and Mike not only corrected the issue, but did so for less than I paid the first shop. They did a very through inspection on my front and rear differentials, alerted me to the fraud issue from the previous shop, and expertly installed new, high-quality parts. I couldn't be happier with my repair. As a bonus, they helped me with my upcoming litigation against the other shop by providing me detailed information on the past work being (poorly) done and facts on the bait & switch parts he used. I brought my 99 Jeep XJ to T&J to repair my smog issues. I had replaced my catalytic converters and O2 sensors already but still had codes. I figured Jeep experts would be my best chance at finding the problem with the least amount of expensive experimentation. I was told my O2 sensors needed replacement. I reminded them they were new. I asked if they were certain this was the problem and they alluded that's what the codes were telling them. I accepted. I got a call telling me they took the jeep out and it immediately started to overheat. They told me I need a new engine but couldn't tell me why other then they looked at the color of coolant. I was certain at this point what I was dealing with and settled up with them for $500. I was told this was discounted price under the circumstances. I drove the jeep directly to the nearest radiator shop. They replaced my water pump which had disintegrated. The radiator shop guy was super helpful and told me my engine was fine. He recommended another mechanic down the street to repair my smog issues which persisted with my twice-new sensors The new mechanic hears my explanation and immediately says I probably have a blown fuse associated with the O2 sensors. Not only does he fix my jeep but he gassed it up, drove it till it cleared and gets it SMOG'D for me at a total of $430. To sum up, my water pump blew at T&J and they made no offer to diagnose or repair it. They charged me for sensors I don't need and worst of all, I paid for their valuable expert time upselling me a boutique engine. Its important to iterate how bad it was to recommend a new engine. I could have easily junked my jeep or sold it as needing a new engine. The irony is I went to T&J to avoid precisely what they turned out to be. read more

I have been dealing with T&J Performance since about 2010 and they are my go-to for anything I need or want for my Jeep. The shop is an off-road racing team and they understandably have times of each year where their focus is on their sport. This being the case, I expected to wait for a spot on their schedule. A few times over the last 12 or so years I had to wait a few days but overall, I was always given a realistic timeline and I am very pleased with the service I get at T&J Performance. They have replaced/upgraded everything on my Jeep except the body, engine & transmission and I am very happy with the off-road performance of my Jeep. The highway miles are good too but this Jeep is now my off-road rig so I trailer it when traveling beyond 50 miles or so from home. Exactly how I planned it. Mike is a good guy and friendly and super knowledgeable. He has all the time in the world when you're buying. After the work is done however it's a different story. I had two axles regeared, and tons of other work done to nearly $7k. Nevermind that was a couple grand more than my quote. I chose to move forward so that's on me. I bought their Barnett clutch linkage too. Worked great for a few hundred miles then came apart. It was hell to get an appt for them to look at it. A couple weeks later they looked at it and charged me more money to fix it!? I was assured it was good to go. A couple more hundred miles later, it happened again. After calling for an appt for three weeks and getting blown off, I started calling twice a day for a week and a half. This included speaking with Mike twice who couldn't get me on the schedule? An owner can't get me on the schedule, really? After telling them this was a daily driver and the car not working for a month, I was finally given an appt; but not for three more weeks because they were just so busy. They're happy to take your money in the beginning. Once that's done, you're forgotten and they won't stand behind their work or product. You are given zero priority or warranty consideration. Avoid this shop if you care at all about service, warranty or integrity. I feel totally scammed and blown off completely. I'm sure the rest of the work is fine, but who can tell when the car isn't drivable due to their inferior product or workmanship? read more

Very Confusing! My mom and I came into this shop trying to buy a "TrashaRoo" Jeep trash bag for the spare wheel on the back of the truck. A very nice gentleman grabbed us a bag with a "TrashaRoo" label. He assured us (we have NO idea about this kind of stuff) that this was the trash bag thing my bro wanted for Christmas. Fast Forward: Paid $45 for it Take it home Wrap it up Christmas Morning Bro opens it It is completely the wrong item. It is a license plate holder that corresponds with the TrashaRoo system. Not sure if the dude who sold it to us knew this, but he should have checked to make sure before he sold us something that was completely different from what we asked for!!! read more

I was referred to this shop because I was told they're top notch gearing/drive train specialist. Went for the test drive to replicate the issue and half the test drive I was getting a sales pitch on the tires they sell. They had my vehicle for two days and recommend I buy their cheap Chinese smittybilt to "fix" my issue. Paid for two hours of labor, time off work, uber rides, to be right back where I started. Wouldn't recommend this shop to anyone unless it was a CJ. UPDATE: Took my jk to a real drive train specialists and the issue was in the rear diff as I suspected. A pinion bearing had gone bad causing vibrations and gears to wear funny. T & j's wanted me to fix my rear pinion angle with their Chinese control arms. I try to buy American products when I can, and steel prices just went up and I will continue to purchase American made products for my jeep. read more

Extremely pricy rates for for the work that was done that exceeded the original estimates by three times what was initially quoted. Work was done piece by piece and many things simply uncompleted adding hours upon hours of work rather then following the estimate and completing the job. Just too expensive is my main complaint here. Insult to injury, the Mechanic felt it necessary to bad mouth me and my character to my girlfriend while I test drove his work after putting up with his guff through the work needed to be done that sky-rocked in price and time from the original quote. My Sons car had check engine lights on. We had never been there and took a chance. They were great. Check engine light was a sensor that needed replacing. They went and picked up tires from another place and put them on. They gave my son a ride home so he didn't have to wait and they picked him up when ready. I work in Customer Service and know how to take care of customers and they are now on my list of places not to go "BE AWARE"! They will rip you off too! Its not difficult to order online these days but wanted to go into a shop and trust them to do it becaise I wasnt sure and paid them 30% more to have them do it, cool no prob Ibthought. I brought my part in to Steve who looked at it and orders the part. It comes in wrong, no problem I'm not in a hurry, He gets the right part in but now wants to charge me the shipping and tells ME that we both ordered the part together so I pay. Its his shop he ordered the part and should take responsibility, so every part that comes in wrong the customer should pay for? my daughter was in an accident in her jeep cherokee that tore up the front suspension and drive axle. we took it to a mechanic for an estimate. the cost was ridiculous for the age of the vehicle. tom at tj was recommended to us as an alternative. i realize they do a lot of custom jeeps but he was very helpful. he and his staff did a very thorough inspection and gave us a more than reasonable estimate. tom was considerate of the fact this jeep was for my daughter and safety was his primary concern. they repaired the cherokee wonderfully. it drives smoothly and safely. all of my dealings with tom gave me a real sense of expert mechanic and honesty. this was a very comforting combination. they took a very sad situation and made it whole without killing me cost wise. my daughter is very happy as am i. i would absolutely recommend tom and his staff at tj performance for you jeep repair needs. thank to everyone who worked on my daughters car. read more
